A true OG in every sense of the word, the lifelong record digger and die-hard music aficionado Estimulo has been pushing the needle in Berlin's deep underground since the late 80s! His regular collaborations with like minded music obsessed guests to present marathon live streams of the notorious EstimuloShow are the stuff of legend, the most recent of which have been streamed live from his basement in Berlin with guests like Huerta, C.K, Flørist and Adi Toohey stopping by for some cake and an extended b2b.

Wowing even the most astute of house heads without even breaking a sweat, Esti's selections simply are one of a kind, drawing upon the deepest of deep cuts from his 30+ year record collection to share with the world an incredible ear for rare and forgotten dance music.

A dubbed out "listening mind journey" as he describes it, Estimulo mixes up some pure gold here as per usual, and gives us some great insight into the history and inner workings of the EstimuloShow, and the thought process that goes into making his own killer edits!

Hailing from Aarhus, Denmark, C.K is the main man behind Safe Distribution and its affiliated labels, such as PRS and Help Recordings to name just two. He has been known to release under a variety of different monikers, including the ambient-focused projects 3.11 and 355.11125. C.K is also part of several collectives, namely 2 Bit Crew, Maizena, and the infamous Regelbau crew, alongside Manmade Deejay, DJ Sports, Central, and more. A keen digger, C.K has a never-ending desire to find new music (and old) for his DJ sets. Whether performing solo or back-to-back, C.K is known to represent the relaxed but recognisable sound of all the labels and artists surrounding the Safe crew – usually with a nod a bit more towards the euphoric soundscapes of Dream House, with bouncy basslines and luscious melodies. Phonica Mix Series 91: C.K

After realising they shared an uncanny stash of the same records, Melbourne Deepcast’s Myles Mac and Melbourne via Copenhagen’s DJ Camov formed a tribute band of sorts, occasionally coming together to share their obsession for forgotten 90s house music with the world. 

On their regular journeys back through the golden years, Project 95 moves between the soulful house of Chicago, NYC garage, Detroit techno, acid and early French filter house, channelling the legendary grooves of Ian Pooley, Paul Johnson, Daft Punk, Wamdue Kids, Fresh & Low, DJ Tonka, HMC and Roy Davis Jr. to name a few. No stranger to the interwebs, their distinct styles have been featured across the spectrum with extended mixes for Melbourne Deepcast and London’s Stamp The Wax Diggers Directory podcast, with a three-hour session covering everything from 90s dub techno to IDM and rave.

At home, the duo has been regularly called upon to set the tone for the likes of Glenn Underground, DJ Qu and Jeremy Underground, have been found winding back the clock at club nights like Melbourne’s Lost Weekend and Lucid, Sydney’s Vibe Positive and Heavenly, and Pitch Music & Arts Festival in country Victoria.

Sevensol is a splendid producer, DJ and label boss. Kann, the label of which he co-founded alongside Bender, has become one of the best and most significant in a new wave of record labels championing House music in Europe. A figurehead of the Leipzig underground music scene Sevensol cut his teeth at record stores across the city, working behind the counters and gathering a wealth of knowledge which would go on to inform and inspire his own taste and perspective as a DJ.

His music is often deep, pensive and driven by emotions. This is perhaps best noted on his own productions, upon which he works with Bender to craft stripped back, textural music which tugs at the heartstrings as much as it moves the feet.

As a DJ Sevensol’s style is innovative and unique, seeking to take dancers on a journey through multiple genres and styles, all with ethereal undertones. Sevensol is also one half of the DJ duo Manamana alongside Map.ache.

We invited him to record this mixtape a little while back and now that it’s shown up it doesn’t disappoint.

Love On The Rocks invites special guest E-Talking presenting a Kraftwerk sample special.

"A few years ago, I started gathering records in my collection which sampled Kraftwerk's “Home Computer”, released in 1981 on the album Computer Love. I’m not taking too much risk by saying that this track (and album) shaped the sound of House, Techno and Hip-Hop in its early days. All the tracks selected in this mix came out between 1988 and 1991 and showcase various uses of the track as well as my obsession with it."

Just last month, Canadian Jex Opolis debuted on our label with a cosmic and feel good electro EP that came washed in Italo influences. It was the latest in a long line of colourful releases—largely on his own Good Timin’ label—that have explored a timeless mix of synth pop, leftfield, house and nu disco since 2013. As someone with a background playing in bands, he knows how to properly arrange a track, which always shows, and he even uses his own voice for extra layers of personalisation. 

His mix for us is a fun one: vocals ricochet around over boogie basslines, tropical percussions flails away next to glistening Casio keys and day-glo disco is never far away. House grooves take over later on and power through with more lush chords and it all makes for exactly the sort of thing you want to hear on an open-air, sun-kissed festival stage.

Starting as a label that served basically as a platform for their friends’ music in 2010, Uncanny Valley evolved into a record label that assembles acclaimed artists from the electronic music scene not only from the label’s base in Dresden but also from Germany and beyond. With a strong emphasis on the records’ artwork the label heads Philipp Demankowski, Conrad Kaden, Carl-Johannes Schulze and Albrecht Wassersleben are constantly on a mission to establish and refine the artists from the roster as well as to search for new talents. Artists as Jacob Korn, Cuthead, Credit 00, Massimiliano Pagliara, CVBox or Panthera Krause all feel at home on the label, giving them the chance to develop projects that are not only music related but can also integrate different art forms. With the two offshoots Rat Life and shtum under its belt, Uncanny Valley does not stand still to explore the full spectrum of electronic and not so electronic music from House via Disco, Hip-Hop or Ambient through to Techno. A range that can also be depicted when the four label heads come together for a DJ set as Uncanny Valley Soundsystem.
