Erupting from the depths of Australia’s hip hop and drum and bass scene comes a dynamic new sound of Melbourne’s own Wasabi. The long awaited first solo release, ‘Calm Before The Storm,’ is a five-track EP that seamlessly traverses a sonic landscape through psychedelic valleys and over ambient contours of earthy street beats. 

In 2012 Wasabi, internationally renowned proponent of turntablizm detours explore an eclectic audio science that takes the listener on a journey through the diversity of glitch, dub, industrial breaks and minimal tech with intricate fusion of wickedly crooked beats, liquid bass lines and smooth atmospheric frequencies, producing a soundscape that satisfies the hunger of every beat-fiend.  With a live show incorporating a horn section, percussion as well as an array of talented vocalists, mc’s and dancers, Wasabi offers a fresh translation of passion and emotion into sonic harmony.

JUNK! is an audio-visual show like you’ve never seen before.

Powerful, funny and slightly psychotic, JUNK! uses video game controllers, drum pads, a keytar and a tambourine to build live vocal loops before your eyes – all synchronised to video while wearing a cape.

JUNK! has performed his unique blend of the 80s, 90s and the future all over the world.

Well then, just thought you should know - funk is best enjoyed in your ears and The Charlies like to spread aural pleasure as often as possible.

After completing their recent world tour, with sell out shows in Iraq and Afghanistan, The Charlies have been nominated for twelve ARIA awards.
...Their fairly confident bass player Scott "slappin" Cherry will win the "Best Slap" award.
Guitarist Lizzie "guitar lady" Sedman, is favourite to win the prestigious "Nipple Picking" award.
Vocal vixen Bleedin Gums "don't spew on me" Willison is picked to win the "Longest Scream" award and is really hoping to win "Best Onstage Cartwheel".
Drummer Julia "Show Us Your Tits" Watt is in the running for "Best Camel Toe" after wearing that one piece jumpsuit late last year. There's some pretty tough competition in this category though. Ania "lady fingers" Reynolds won the best "Pineapple Hair" award in 2003 while touring internationally with notable OZ quartet, "The Woogie Woos" and is hoping to win it again in 2011.

All in all, The Charlies are one of the finest funk bands you'll ever see in your whole entire life. You'll be amazed, horrified, excited and offended by the end of your first listen.
