Placated by rituals of dog days gone dead.

Behind the figure eight.
Lay me out like cold comeuppance
On hot parking lot blacktop. 
Let the vultures and the crows pay respects
The fastest hands in the west laid to rest


I was complacent in the haze.
Like backyard pools 
Or ball fields in the middle of nowhere .
Then I started imploding on impact.
I've never felt so clumsy before.

I'm out growing my adaptability.
These days it's all double knots
And Smoke stacks.
No Look backs, no take backs
All train, no tracks
All story, no facts 
No future, no past
Just a Fast track to fade to black

joy is still there.
 And the light is right behind.
Like that bluebird.
That fucking bluebird.
He's always trying to give me away.

It was just a trick
Just the way
The light fell on it
Can't believe your eyes
Look away
They tell nothing but lies
Isn't it peculiar what  tricks
Light and shadow can do
