SC001, titled 'Streets Are Like', is the first installment on new born label Scandalo Music, launched as a platform to bring Brazil's very own musical footprint mixed with collaborations with international artists and pioneer producers. The limited edition 12" offers up an original Nu-disco gem reminiscent of early LCD Soundsytem along with a collection of outstanding remixes showcasing the originals funky bassline, captivating vocal and live disco feel that so many tracks fail to achieve. Prepare to be served warm crunching guitars, floating soundscapes and latino percussion blended, filtered and delivered sunny side up. 

Silver City (Fernando Pulichino and Julian Sanza) started playing music together in 1999 as electronic music collective Ciudad Feliz. After few releases on seminal house music labels like Silver Network and Stickman, the pair moved to London and began producing as Silver City for the esteemed 2020 Vision label. Two Silver City albums and multiple projects followed, seeing the pair joining and touring extensively as part of the 2020 Soundsystem team, Julian on keys and Fernando on bass, whilst also releasing separately on labels such as Rebirth and Redux respectively. For the undaunted grandeur of the title track "Streets Are Like" the pair enlist the talents of Patriarca with whom they have already released some great tunes via Under The Shade Records and Tropic Records.

On remix duties Julian Sanza's offering freshens up the funk with a bouncing club ready bassline and underground house grooves and drums. Pete Dafeet adds his signature swinging beats and groove to his remix with tribal flavour and memorable tech house lead line. Finally Gunne's dark and twisted offering makes this a desirable package to please all and sundry.

Producer, DJ, Radio Presenter, Promoter... musical polymath, Doorly seems to have already ticked off a lot of the things on any DJ's Bucket List.  Djing in Time Square New York, Touring regularly alongside his early Inspiration Fatboy Slim, Recording TWO BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes, Producing and DJing Live for Usher & Nicki Minaj, and sharing the stage with the Prodigy to 65,000 people (Twice!).

Doorly’s dedication to the craft of DJing remains paramount, with sets being played out across four CDJs, plus samplers & FX units, he is a firm believer that a DJ set should be a live turntablism experience, but if you're not lucky enough to catch Doorly out, he can be heard every Tuesday night 9-10pm (EST) on iheartradio Dance Music station ‘Evolution Radio’.

Today we feature an exclusive Doorly reprise of Mario Cruz' 'Little Thing'. As the title says, this one is a nice weather, piano laden bit of pure house.  Just try not to smile when it comes on.

HEIST Podcast #8 - Nachtbraker

The first music to be shared from #N/A - the forthcoming new studio album from NISENNENMONDAI, recorded with legendary dub producer ADRIAN SHERWOOD in Tokyo, and released outside Japan on his On-U Sound label.

#N/A (literally, Nisennenmondai with Adrian Sherwood) is a new studio album which sees the cult Japanese trio filtering their epic motorik jams through the mixing desk of the legendary dub producer.

Nisennenmondai are three girls from Tokyo, Sayaka Himeno (drums), Yuri Zaikawa (bass) and Masako Takada (guitar), who have been playing instrumental music together since 1999. From their initial beginnings as a noisy no wave band openly referencing influences such as Sonic Youth, DNA and This Heat, they have since honed and streamlined their sound into a more minimalistic pulse with an emphasis on the hypnotic possibilities of repetition, creating a sound that can be likened to ‘organic techno’.

Much beloved by other musicians including Battles, Prefuse 73 and Chris & Cosey (Throbbing Gristle), in recent years they have made more connections to dance culture, in particular with their 2015 collaboration live and on record with electronic producer Shackleton.

Recording their new album with Sherwood has resulted in them sounding bigger than ever before, with a greater emphasis on small rhythmic details and subtle dub touches, reminiscent in places of the classic Basic Channel sound.

This international edition of the album includes 2 bonus ‘live dub mixes’. Whilst Adrian showed considerable restraint in his production job on the studio album, on a subsequent live date at Tokyo’s Unit club he was recorded deploying a wild array of FX tricks, dropping in splashes of cavernous reverb and space echo delay to the performance of two pieces from the band’s previous album N’.

As a kid growing up in Illinois' tucked-away capital of Springfield, Justin Cudmore played the drums at home and in school as a jazz percussionist. In his college days Justin dove into electronic music, workshopping new-wave influenced beats in bands and DJing parties. Currently, Justin is a fixture across Brooklyn, popping up on dance floors and behind booths, where he has spun records at his Hotmix parties along with Mike Servito and Gunnar Haslam. 

“Crystal” is Cudmore’s debut 12” single. Raw, rough and ready to rumble, “Crystal” marries snaking acid lines and bouncy grooves to a sample from cult underground film classic 'The Queen'.  On the flip is Detroit-bred and Bunker resident DJ Mike Servito’s “730 Reshape”, that gives the wiggly worm vibe harkening back to the early days of Transmat, Warp and the minimalism of Dan Bell's DBX project. L.I.E.S. mainstay Gunnar Haslam provides his “Dekalb Avenue Remix” made while living in New York, a modular synth cruise with the top down. All tracks have been mastered and EQed for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley and labels are as pink as Crystal’s lipstick.
