It was long overdue but we’re excited to finally present you the next episode of the Reels podcast series! Behind the wheels of steel this time is Sebastian Rebig, a true house music lover and proper vinyl junkie who owns more than 9000 records. Sebastian hails from Mönchengladbach (in the famous Ruhr region) and has been playing since 2000 in various locations around Germany. He has caught the ears of many passionate listeners, including Session Victim who have since then invited Sebastian to spin at some of their parties. Thanks to his record selection, deejaying skills and deep knowledge of music, Sebastian Rebig is the perfect example of a „DJ’s DJ“.

Reels 6 is vintage Rebig: a faultless collection of forgotten house classics from Mood II Swing or Black Science Orchestra blended with contemporary heaters from Fresh & Low or Moomin. Par un concours de circonstances propre à l’incroyable vie des choses, les sonorités bruitistes du premier EP de Jacques ont résonné jusqu’aux oreilles bienveillantes des membres de l’équipe de Radio France. C’est dans le cadre des journées du patrimoine que Radio France lance alors à Jacques le défi de composer un morceau qui inclus des sons enregistrés à l’intérieur de la Maison de la Radio à Paris. Panneaux de signalisation, poteaux, extincteurs, ascenseurs, tiroirs, câbles métalliques… tout le bâtiment est cogné pour en extraire une banque de sons inédite à partir de laquelle il va composer sans le savoir ce qui deviens aujourd’hui son nouveau single. Dans un morceau fait à partir de la radio et pour la radio, Jacques chante pour la première fois le fait qu’il est pour la première fois dans la radio. Le titre ? Dans la Radio. Une mise en abîme que l’on soupçonne d’être une expérience de plus dans le cadre de son projet pseudo-scientifique né au Palais de Tokyo il y a quelque mois : Le CNRV (Centre National de Recherche du Vortex).

(NTS 29/1/17 Pt. 1)

Ben Rau returns with the second release on his Inkal imprint February 15th, featuring two new original tracks from the German artist.
Berlin’s Ben Rau has become a prominent name in groove-laden house music over the years as resident and artist with London’s inimitable Fuse events and record label, as well as releases on label such as JusGrooveIt and Body Parts. November 2016 saw Ben inaugurate his very own Inkal imprint though, which climbed to the top of the Deejay.de vinyl sales chart hitting number 1 and perfectly setting the tone for the imprint.
This February will see Ben back on form with the second release for the label and opening things up is title track ‘Work Hard’, a smooth slice of driving house fuelled by snaking bass grooves, low- slung bumpy percussion and vacillating vocal swells, whilst chugging acid licks and the introduction of additional vocal lines gradually creep into the composition.
On the flip is ‘Ouisky’, another raw, stripped-back addition employing thunderous sub bass surges, heavily swung percussive shuffles and an amalgamation of bright chord stabs layered into a head nodding, infectious and dynamic sequence throughout.
Ben Rau’s ‘Work Hard’ EP is out on Inkal February 2017.
