Destined for the sunset crew, for the hip shaking, for the gym, for those, who are open-minded about disco anyways, for more parties, last but not least for salvation.

The Vol. 1 starter package contains five brand new, unreleased, exclusive tracks, coupled with four best of Compost Disco catalogue tracks. All 15 new tracks will be available on vinyl 2xLP out in April 2022.
The variety ranges across the floor from boogie, italo, new wave, classic soulful, balearic, neo-disco, housey, downbeat, fusion, garage, to tech-disco. Tasty, hypnotizing and emotional.

Belgian techno don Marco Bailey lands on Watergate with a debut that’s guaranteed to intrigue as he leans into electro territory. 

DJ, producer and label chief, his is a storied career that spans three decades, and it’s long been evident that Marco’s enthusiasm and passion remains resolute. He closed 2021 with the release of his sixth studio album Surreal Stage, an ambitious, introspective body of work that dropped via his booming imprint Materia. His own label aside, his discography is stacked with cuts across eminent labels Second State, ARTS, Bedrock Records, as well as being one of the first artists to debut on Carl Cox’s seminal INTEC. While it’s techno that he’s become firmly associated with, his adeptness in the studio isn’t limited to the nuances of one genre and this is a rare opportunity to showcase a different side to his musicality. 

It’s ‘From My Mind’ that delivers first and sticks in your mind - from the heavy synth bassline to the soaring ascendant melody, and distorted, robotic vocals. ‘The Spirit’ floods in next, almost immediately engaging listeners as it ebbs and flows with complete abandon. If the promise of electro grabbed your attention, ‘Pulse’ slaps and packs plenty of punch power as it snakes its way through with dominating, ascendant chords.

German duo Extrawelt and Belgian export Biesmans step in with rerubs of ‘From My Mind’, and firmly grip some of the elements which make this electro excursion so memorable. Steve Rachmad seizes his Sterac Electronics alias, staying true to form in getting deeper and darker with a brooding, stirring trip that begs for immediate replay. Techno linchpin The Advent links up with Zein Ferreira, delivering a cut that blazes with ascending notes and a scattering of twisted elements beneath the winding vocal bleed. Axel Haube, a rising Belgian artist, is last in and he weaves a rolling bassline through a rerub that lifts the mood with a celestial melody and skyward keys.

After two singles on Introspection Recordings Tuscany's secret weapon Edoardo Scarpellini better known under his artist alias E-dward! releases his digital debut album A Simple Mistake on the label. Known for his preference for old-school-sounds to reinterpret newly and in his own way E-dward!'s music has always covered various genres and styles. Consequently A Simple Mistake is a potpourri of Edoardo's influences and at the same time a journey into the artist's musical diversity. Altogether his album contains seven original tracks and a remix for the title track, which comes from Federico Grazzini. The nine-tracker closes with Zouc, a rather techno-driven piece with a creaking vintage sounding bass- and a deep and touching synth-line that make the track a graceful ending of the LP leaving the listeners emotionally affected.

Darkroom Dubs returns with a little late-night disco dissonance. It's time for some ‘Unstable Harmony’.

Following a brief hiatus - during which the label has been preparing for its forthcoming 20th anniversary - Silicone Soul’s longstanding imprint strides into 2022, fashionably late with this powerful label debut from Günce Aci.

An unstoppable tour-de-force from Istanbul in recent years, Günce has been weaving between the genres, joining hypnotic dots in the darkest shadows of house, disco, indie and electronica on labels such as Nein, Ombra International and Spectrowave. Now she lands Darkroom Dubs with two blisteringly fresh originals that defy categorisation.

‘Unstable Harmony’ sets the pace and tone. A bulbous bassline pushes the message with urgency in a way not dissimilar to Black Strobe. Laced with dark disco nuances and an unfaltering groove strong enough to melt concrete, don’t be fooled by the title: this guarantees the sweetest of dancefloor harmonies.

‘No Longer Human’ increases the feeling of unease and tension with a lingering groove that lurks and raises in weight and momentum but never peaks. The perfect transition track or palette cleanser, Günce’s broken beats, insistent bassline and spiralling musical elements can disarm a crowd at 20 paces. And will do for a long time to come.

Stay tuned as Darkroom Dubs have plenty more to drop throughout 2022 from old friends and new. Expect beats from new signings Alvaro Cabana & Fargo Devanti and Abel Ray, plus the return of Undo, Amount and Am$trad Billionaire. ‘Smooth Monday’, with Permanent Vacation-backed Zombies in Miami, is a synth symphony of twanging nu-disco and bass arps with a melodic dreamy top layer.
 
‘All Day Every Day’ is Biesmans’ slice of breakbeat euphoria with a reverb-rich bass riff. 
‘Hola y Bienvenido’ with Alex Medina is a fast, hi-energy piece with an 80s drumbeat.
‘March for Peace’ is a laid-back but danceable multi-layered upbeat synth fest.
‘Away’ with Vandesande (half of dOP), a portentous Blade Runner-esque contemplation
closes the EP, but opens the album.
