“The Undercover Babas” is an exciting new project by Mandala (Angus Young) and Braincell (Ralph Knobloch). Two seasoned psychedelic trance producers both firmly in the Nano records family.

Ralph and Angus met by chance at Angus’s retreat in Goa in 2014 where they became firm friends and began to share sonic ideas and visions of a new sound. Both of them were deeply inspired by nature and had been on missions worldwide to record it! 
Having collaborated on two tracks that would later be released on Nano records, Cellular Mandala in 2017 and “undercover baba” which was featured on Mandala’s highly acclaimed album “Back To Your Nature” in 2018…They decided to take it a step further, and created the concept of “The Undercover Babas”…Music born of the idea of their lives being a subtle mission to spread positive, deep, psychedelic sonic messages. The result is an authentic sound that blends both their recognisable  styles of storytelling, creating something fresh and truly unique in this genre, blending driving basslines , subtle spiralling melodies, natural recordings and modular madness .Their sound conjures epic cinematic sonic landscapes hinting at far off tribal lands… highly polished tales of the raw energy of the heart.

Their first Ep “Mission Possible”  on Nano records, featured two journeys that leave you feeling you’ve been spoken to ! … “Right in this Moment” is a cheeky playful fun filled funkfest featuring channelled mutterings from the outer realms….and the epic “Cosmic Orgy” is a full length trance inducing tribal monster inspired by the imaginings of the party that creation itself would put on! 
Their second ep. "do something different" set about to raise the bar for writing something that pushes the boundaries of the formula in the genre, featuring 2 sonic tapestries written on full moons, and written together in the studio...no long distance writing with these guys....the authenticity in the music comes from them jamming and vibing together.
Their 3rd Ep. 'Hope-scope" is once again the inspired result of these two loving what they do so well together....having serious amounts of fun in the studio! "Tribal calling" was started with a vocal shamanic twisted microphone session which conjured up the image of tribes from every far flung region of the earth and beyond, subliminally answering the call to sonic prayer and making their way to the ultimate gathering.  "Everything around you" is an epic piece that reminds us of the quest to becoming  more aware of ourselves in relation to everything around us...and is a true goosebump inducer!

Ralph and Angus are both fully committed to taking Undercover Babas to as many dance floors as they can and passionately delivering their new live-set straight from the heart
