Sebadoh - celebrate the void

With the electronic drumroll of “The Bill” the sun comes out.  Choruses bursting with vitamins, melodies that fill your being, arrangement that put a smile on your face.  Finally, perfect pop is like an orange juice.  Then comes “Six By Six” and you discover just how much you miss songs with several voices.  Maybe it has been three years (since the last release by Lost Tapes, to be precise) since you last heard such a refined harmony. Pau Roca and Rj Sinclair are the go-betweens that will connect you and total happiness in song format.  More serotonin:  in the crystalline jangle-pop of “Like a Waltz” (with lyrics inspired by Leonard Cohen himself) happy bats circle.  A shiver that comforts.  By the time you reach the last track of this EP that precedes the new album buy this duo, you have set up Lost Tapes’ teenage fan club.  You need to tell them that you love them.  Send them that love letter.  A farewell in the key of bedroom pop that goes beyond labels:  this is pure pop.

Fake Laugh - Surrounded

Starry Eyed was recorded in 2017, in studio within 3 hours as part of the winning prize of the local battle of the bands competition. The song is the last song to be released that features writing credits from all four members of the original Sundive band, and is the last song featuring a lot of the band's earlier styles and themes of high school romance, adolescent anxiety, becoming a meaningful person. The track was sit on for two years and released on a whim, for old time's sake.
