(A voice to your side perks up, startling you. Beneath you lies a red-and-white petaled flower - A talking flower, with a little, flower-sized top hat.)

[ * Just remember one thing: down here, er, "disputes over property" are solved with these. ]

(An amorphous form of energy swirls above Flowey, forming a seed-like shape. It hums with heat enough to distort its surroundings.)

[ * This is probably quite a bit similar to what humans would call a bullet. ]
[ * Long story short, anything that looks like this, don't touch it, capiche? ]

(The bullet is sent your way at a slow pace - You avoid it with relative ease.)

[ * Good. That's basically all you need to know. ]
[ * Just be careful, okay? Down here... There's only one real rule anyone follows. ]
[ * It's kill or be killed. ]
[ * Someone as scrawny as you... You look like free EXP. ]

(You hesitate. Eventually, you find yourself able to stand - A vine, presumably one of Flowey's, emerges from the ground to help you up.)
(You thank him and agree. Flowey has joined your party!)

[ * Let's get going. If you want to get out of here, we've got a lot of ground to cover. ]

003 - I Hope We'll Be Friends

(The remains of an ancient civilization stretch out before you - Although in disrepair, it remains magnificent. Marble pillars accented with gold hold up the cave ceiling, and the floor beneath you presents pathways made out of similar marble. The walls and whatever segments of the floor aren't paved are made from darkened purple bricks, separated from the floor by black-bricked accents.)

[ * Stay close to me, unless you want to end up buried here, too. ]

(It smells terrible - Damp soil, rusting metal, ash. Perhaps urine. Occasionally, the wind will carry an unnerving scent similar to copper into your lungs.)

[ * Hee hee hee. Oh, this is rich. ]
[ * I'm already not supposed to be seen here, and here I am, bringing along a fresh batch of human! ]
[ * Better keep quiet, or we're both dying here. ]

(Leaves litter the ground, and wildflowers struggle to escape from between cracks in the bricks. You aren't sure how this is possible, but it certainly adds to the atmosphere.)
(The terror of the unknown has a strange beauty to it, and you are filled with the courage to press onwards.)

004 - Mausoleum

[ * SHUSH! Okay, okay. You're gonna have to trust me with this. ]
[ * Get behind that pillar. Don't make a sound. ]

(Your intuition tells you to obey. A sinking feeling in your gut tells you that you are in danger.)

[ * Shush, seriously. Keep it down. ]
[ * Not one word, not one movement. ]

(The air is thick like blood. Every shadow appears darker than before, as if they, too, are hiding from whatever is approaching.)
(Cold sweat lingers on your forehead - You clutch the pillar tighter, trying to stop yourself from shaking. Every echo through the cavern, every misplaced sound makes you flinch.)

[ * ...She won't hurt you, but if you want to get out of here in your lifetime, it'd be best not to run into her. ]

(In the distance, heavy footsteps pierce the darkness. Even Flowey remains still beside you now - It's like the world is frozen in time. The only thing you can hear are the approaching footsteps.)
(They sound wet. Disgustingly so. As they approach, you catch something else - Something dragging on the rocks, ever so slightly.)

??? - [ * H-Hello? ]

(It's a feminine voice. She sounds just as scared as you are.)

??? - [ * D-Don't cry! It's- We- Y-You're going to be okay, my child! ]
??? - [ * I-I know this is scary... ]

(Their sentences are worded strangely. It appears almost coincidental that you're in a similar situation to whatever she's seeing... But she doesn't appear to be talking to you. At least, not what's currently defined as 'you'.)

??? - [ * I'm- I-I promise... I'll keep you safe, my child! ]
??? - [ * Safe and happy here, with- With me! ]

(She sounds terrified. Her words are broken by tears. You have to resist the urge to reveal yourself, to comfort this tortured soul.)
(Somehow, it's more courageous of you to remain hidden for now.)

??? - [ * D-Don't look at me like that! Say s-something, my child... ]
??? - [ * What a m-miserable day it is...! ]
??? - [ * I w-wish it didn't have to torture... Such a p-poor and i-innocent youth! ]

(She attempts to speak further, but her voice degrades into hysterical sobs.)

005 - Come Home

??? - [ * H-Hush... Little b-baby... Don't you cry... ]
??? - [ * Mama's g-gonna sing... You... A lullaby... ]

(The hushed, stifled sobs of the monster before you muffle the sounds of the lullaby she sings - A faint tune echoes from something in her hands, and it does not match the tune of the lullaby even remotely. It's a haunting dissonance.)

??? - [ * And when... the b-bough breaks...! ]
??? - [ * The- The cradle w-will fall... ]

(She's started singing a different lullaby, now. You hesitate as you approach, still struggling against FLowey's vines as he tries to hold you away from her.)
(You ask her what's wrong.)

??? - [ * M-My ch-child! ]
??? - [ * Y-You have never f-felt... S-So close... ]

(She turns around. Her hair is wild and unkempt, as if she hadn't touched it in the slightest in years. Her mane flows long enough to nearly touch the floor, and it covers her eyes. The black dress she wears is tattered with age, yet the golden accents still shine bright. Her horns are long and dangerously sharp, curving behind her head.)
(If she were to stand, she would tower over you. She kneels, and is still significantly taller than you.)
(Mascara lines stream down her face. Her fur is wet with tears - She still doesn't quite seem to notice you're there.)
(You ask her what her name is.)

T - [ * I-I am T-Toriel. Y-You have f-forgotten my- My name? ]

(You assure her that's not the case.)
(You aren't quite sure if you should play along with her clear delusion, or if you should attempt to wake her.)

T - [ * M-My child... I- I am going to teach y-you some new th-things, okay? ]

(She stands up - Even more massive than you had anticipated. Her horns scrape the ceiling nearly six feet above you, making her stand at a terrifying near-eleven feet tall.)
(She reaches a shaky hand forwards - You flinch away, but she grabs your shoulder with surprising strength and speed - Her touch is gentle, regardless.)
(She sees you as her child.)

T - [ * P-Please follow me, my child... ]

(Without waiting for input, she slinks away with you in tow. Her strides are long, yet slow, to the point where you can easily keep up. You can very clearly see that if she was walking full speed, she would leave you in the dust.)
(You aren't sure if she's moping, or if she's deliberately slowing down for you.)

In fights in this world, you do not have the option to spare an enemy without some form of self-defense. ACTs may cause special interactions to happen between enemies on the field, and perhaps in the grand scheme of the world in general, but you cannot spare enemies via this. In order to spare an enemy, you must fight back - Will you wear them down over time, and spare their life? Will you strike them down?

Or will you manipulate their emotions, turn them against each other? Will you tear apart their relations and watch the world crumble around you, without ever lifting a finger?

After Flowey uses you to kill Toriel, he immediately absorbs her soul and gains the stats she once called her own. Now with significantly increased power, he plans to immediately put his plan into motion - And it starts with the simplest task first: getting rid of you.

This fight introduces a new mechanic, being STATUS EFFECTS. During this fight, you are permanently afflicted with RAGE, increasing your damage dealt while lowering your defensive ability, as well as completely disabling your ACT button.

At the end of this fight, Flowey is not defeated, but simply decides he's had enough fun toying with you. With the knowledge of what his plan really is, every step you take in the Underground from here on out is laced with uncertainty. You'll need to think ahead if you want a good ending, as one wrong move might just kill someone.

(Toriel's death does not affect the pacifist run, as you did not kill her.)

Snowdin Town in this take is much more of a small, tight-knit community. After a tragedy in the past, the original village was all but completely demolished... Forcing the (remaining) townsfolk to move and create a new home.

Townsfolk you ask seem hesitant to discuss the cause of the destruction. You can't tell if they're hesitant or unwilling, but it leaves an emptiness in your mind either way:

"What the hell happened here?"
