This week, we welcome Ukrainian 🇺🇦 DJ and producer Xenia Torino. Emerging in 2022 during a time of uncertainty and unrest, her journey into music 🎧 was fueled by urgency and emotion. What began as a personal escape has evolved into something far more focused—marked by discipline, depth, and direction. 💨♾️

Her mix moves through Melodic Techno 🎚️and the rawer edge of Indie Dance, with flashes of Peak Time energy. It opens with atmosphere—clean layers, rising tension—and gradually shifts into a heavier, late night space. 🟰 Her selections carry both weight and clarity, driven by emotive builds, crisp grooves, and moments that stay suspended before pushing forward. ♾️

Tucked inside is her own track Rabbit Hole—a reflection ➰ of her current state as a producer, threading into the narrative without breaking its flow. 🫧

@xenia-torino a Ukrainian 🇺🇦 DJ and producer who began her journey in 2022, during the height of the war in Ukraine. In the midst of chaos, music became her escape—and her way forward. 🎧

Starting with live YouTube mixes, 🩶 what began as a personal outlet quickly grew into something bigger. 🫧 Her sets have been featured on stations like Kiss FM Ukraine, and she’s played at leading venues across the country. In 2024, she took her sound abroad with her first international tour in Bulgaria. 

Xenia’s style moves between Melodic Techno, Indie Dance, and touches of Peak Time Techno, with a constant openness to experimentation. 🎚️ She’s released five original tracks so far, including collaborations with artists from Ukraine and Brazil, and continues to develop her voice as a producer. ➰

For Xenia, music is more than expression—its connection, strength, and a reminder of hope in difficult times. 🟰♾️

Subterránea Podcast - Xenia Torino | EP #125

Underground Colombo (UC) was envisioned by Kushan Dissanayake, and his co-founder, Kasun Dissanayake, who is known as Kais D. This dynamic duo, driven by their shared passion for underground music, embarked on this journey together in 2016.

Inspired by the vibrant energy of Sri Lanka's music scene, they had a vision—to cultivate a close-knit community that immersed itself in the rhythms they cherished. Alongside them was their best friend, Buddika Wijebandara, forming an unbreakable trio.

Their first step was the establishment of a Facebook community, a digital haven for kindred spirits, which rapidly flourished and now boasts a dedicated following of 15,000 strong. But that was only the beginning.

Determined to take their passion to the next level, they decided to launch their own SoundCloud page. This expansion was made possible with the unwavering support of Azmara Veera, a pivotal figure in UC's journey. She, along with the team, contributed creative forces that allowed UC to venture into new territories. 

However, UC isn't solely about music; it's a dynamic, all-encompassing experience. They added a unique visual and editorial flair to UC, making it an aesthetic delight.

Underground Colombo on SoundCloud is more than just a platform; it's a testament to the commitment and dedication of these individuals and the community they've nurtured. The beats, melodies, and sonic landscapes come to life through this collaborative effort.
