"Tik&Borrow have been good friends of Simply Deep for some time now, we’ve always rated their productions as a duo and the quality output from their label In:flux Audio. You can imagine our excitement when we finalized the debut release from Tik&Borrow on Simply Deep.

The ‘Torn’ EP is another strictly 140BPM output from the label but do not let this fool you into painting the whole EP with the same brush, each track has its own distinct characteristics which gives them all a unique shine. From the title track ‘Torn’ with a growling Reese Bass coupled with melancholy atmospherics and melodies – to the reflective Guitar plucks and Deep Basslines within ‘Guitar Dub’ – to the final original production titled ‘Bogus’ with its percussion-heavy frenzies.

To finish the release we brought in two artists from the Simply Deep and In:flux Audio rosters on remix duties. Imanzi takes a more rhythmical approach to ‘Guitar Dub’ with snappy breaks and a keen Jungle influence. Fork and Knife chews up ‘Bogus’ and spits it back out with a heavy rearrangement worthy of the Gun-Finger treatment.

Since forming in 2016, Minneapolis-based DJ/producer trio Ternion Sound has quickly become a household name in the underground dubstep scene, churning out 140 bpm dungeon anthems with alarming consistency. In just a few short years, they've stacked releases on legendary labels like Truth's Deep Dark and Dangerous, Alix Perez's 1985 Music, and J:Kenzo's Artikal Music, while traveling all over the world and performing at Outlook Festival in Croatia, the acclaimed Black Box club in Denver, and Infrasound Festival in Wisconsin. Their explosion onto the scene is no random occurrence, however, as the trio is made up of established producers Nostalgia, Johnny Foreplay, and Apparition, but it's safe to say that their collaborative power as a group has grown exponentially since forming.

Today's premiere comes to us via Hypho and Xakra's Manuka Records, in the form of "Spiral": a new exploration for Ternion Sound into the realm of 130 bpm, drawing on influences from breaks, techno, jungle, and of course, dubstep. The defining style of Ternion Sound shines through while embarking on a new journey, and the result is exciting, to say the least. Knowing how limiting the rhythmic rigidity of the 140 bpm scene can be, it's a breath of fresh air to see artists like Ternion Sound breaking ground in other tempos. "Spiral" is the latest single from their full EP release on Manuka, aptly entitled "Exploration", forthcoming next Tuesday, September 1st, 2020. Mungk has quickly become a legend in the scene for his colourful and dynamic productions which never fail to impress, this palette of productions has seen him release Vinyl and Digital music on very respectable labels: Duploc, Frozen Plates, Soil and Sound & Encrypted Audio to name a few.

Mungk is no stranger to Simply Deep either, ‘Totem’ saw Imanzi and Mungk team up for the track ‘Kapa Haka’ whilst January saw the drop of his track ‘Masquerade’. We are glad to have him back on the roster for his debut EP ‘Tarot’, if that wasn’t exciting enough, we have three talented artists on remix duties: Hypho, Hunter Reed & Khromi.

The entire release oozes with class alongside disciplined production techniques, the melodies in all three original productions are captivating and yet still top contenders for Sound System Music with the rumbling low-end basslines – a perfect spectrum of sound.

"At Simply Deep we rarely find the intro compositions as much of a joy as the ‘drop’ itself, this EP is truly a mark of craftsmanship from Mungk."

The icing on this delicious cake is the remix work from Hypho, Hunter Reed and Khromi, all respectably adding their own touch to the productions whilst keeping true to the original vision from Mungk. This is without a doubt one of our proudest releases to date, we hope everyone enjoys it as much as we do.
