As soon as the lights on the dance-floor went out there was a stir through the club. Word was out that old Acid Cow had a strange dream the previous night and wished to speak about it it to all the other animals. This old fellow was so highly regarded that everyone was ready to lose an hour’s sleep in order to know what happened. The animals began to arrive and make themselves comfortable one by one.

First arrived the mountain cow Debal Sommer, followed by the Falling Cows, who settled down in the straw right in front of living legend Attila Manju. In the meantime Timboletti perched himself on the window-sill but then fluttered up to the rafters, Frech & Koch lay down behind golden gated Didier Dlb and Breger with his robs and began to chew the cud. The cows from Langegarden came in together, walking very slowly and setting down their vast hairy hoofs with great care. Odd Only finally returns back to their own imprint Joyfriend with a new record after their excursions on Empore and Musica Autonomica: "Carla" is the latest entry by the two and includes two originals and a remix by Schlepp Geist from Leipzig.

The title-giving piece of the record impresses with its sophisticated synthesizer harmonies on a mercilessly driving groove. Already part of Odd Only's live set for a while, “Carla” has undoubtedly been written for the cellars of the world and will provide for one or another special moment on the dance floor with its intriguing mood.

Intuition, on the other hand, with its ironic title, presents a challenge: Its lavish and extraordinary drum arrangement sits enthroned on a broken bass drum groove and represents a welcome break from the usual realms of the 4-to-the-floor-formula. It does not stray too far though and keeps its compatibility with classic house and techno numbers.

In the end, "Schlepp Geist" presents his own interpretation of the title track, enriching it in particular with a multitude of atmospheric drum events, which weave the main motif into an always surprising and impelling context.

Odd Only - Carla (Schlepp Geist Remix)

Kellerkind unleashes sprightly melodies that liven up the floor in his Playground EP, consisting of an assortment of filler-free grooves.

Those Nights is outlined in bold sound strokes - radiating synths and catchy, twilight-drenched vocals lead to a near-apocalyptic breakdown. A straightforward, punchy slice, its arguably the danciest cut on the release, with the other three following closely. Meanwhile, Playground is centred around a tribal-infused melody accented by wind instrument loops with a predominantly eerie aesthetic.

A stripped-back cut with playful ethnic vocals, Lelelales charm lies in its minimalist backdrop that puts the emphasis on the vocals and exotic instrumental bits.

The Smooth Operator exhibits a subtler atmosphere, melding equal parts groove and feeling into a heady sound while remaining in the same auditory realm as the rest of the EP.
