Undersound Recordings opens the new decade with an electro EP from Leite Dos Santos, alias of an unknown producer. This EP fuses old and new school electro vibes, all tied together by emotional melodies and undertones. 
The record opens with two broken tracks: ‘Codex Alexandrinus’, a classy track with the highest pace of the EP and the dreamier ‘Texto Sagrado’. On the flipside, the producer switches to a 4/4 formula with ‘Tanakh’ and ‘A Cidade Santa’, closing the EP with melancholic pads over arpeggiated saw basslines.

For this new Premiere, we have a track by the Zagreb-based music producer & DJ Ivna Ji from the upcoming EP "ZwaarteKracht 3" [ZK003] on the Belgian Electro Label : ZwaarteKracht.

ZwaarteKracht was founded towards the end of 2018 and are based in Belgium, their previous two releases have been hosting exquisite sounds from a broad range of artists such as Innershades, Cleromancer, Datawave, Francois Dillinger, Deemphasis, DerDieDas and label boss Arsonist Recorder.

The track we chose to premiere is the Z1 and entitled ‘Diatom’. It will be available from February 15, 2020 on Limited Edition Vinyl + Digital at most online retailers.

ZwaarteKracht are very proud to present the 3rd edition in the series, inviting some very unique and forward thinking artists.

The very prolific Zagreb-based producer Ivna Ji kicks off side “Z” mercilessly grooving a bassline down your spine like an itchy virus. Followed up close by Errorbeauty, who has been pushing boundaries through her own label Arkada Records (which she runs along with XOR12). Her track here displays some geniously organic machinerythms into an eerie dystopian escape.
On side “K”, Arsonist Recorder hosts this record with an invasion of microbug machinery in a heavily rocking track that continues to sonically outline the reactive views of this label, only to prepare the listener for UK-based producer and dj Kim Cosmik’s industrialised funk-anthem which concludes this release, masterfully drilling the beat into the floor with a rumbling subbass-message to society.

Spanish disco dreamer James Rod is back on Paper with some superb cosmic business.  The psychedelic artwork made by Fama de America is a good indicator of what's on the EP, out there aceness!

Belong City has a classic arpeggiated bass with effected guitar, 80s synths and crashing pads as it builds with heavy atmospherics. After the break, things are stripped things back as the bass follows a new progression but the the vibe stays. This is cosmic disco at its best and if you're a fan of DJ Harvey's sets, its for you.

Portuguese composer Afonso Ferreira a.k.a. FARWARMTH is a keen collaborator, as part of the duos HRNS, PURGA and the collective 00:NEKYIA. His debut album for Planet Mu is perhaps his most ambitious collaborative work yet. Built up over four years, its sources are recordings of friends and family in improvised sessions with cello, flute and accordion with Afonso on keyboards from the time he was on an artists residency in 2018.

Afonso's music is made by carefully processing and rendering his source material and he talks about the compositions in terms of emotional resonance, the construction of “connections between time, people and sound“ and the sessions which make up this album being about “emotional exchange, that gave away to something I did not imagine I could've reached alone.“ He describes the album as “rooted in the earth, but aiming for the heavens in an endless search to breathe enough air.” The music here can seem alien; recognisable sounds turned unrecognisable, channeling raw emotion by building layers of sound in unusual ways into huge, energetic sculptures.

The album opens with shard-like chords and twinkling melodies as if the sound is being coaxed into life. The track titles also suggest an almost uncanny onset starting with ‘Shadows In The Air', moving on to the open blasts of chords in ‘Below The White Sky’, and the strange intermittent static of  'Across The Black Sand'. These titles all refer to Afonso’s experience of being alone on the beach where he lives, making sense of the endless winters. It's not until 'Into The Grey Sea' that the bare instruments reveal themselves, freely weaving over each other in a strange dark tapestry, shot through with shimmering sounds that seem to come from distant shores. 'To Heft The Weight Of Memory' lands somewhere between the mystical sadness of Arvo Pärt and the fragmented beauty of Fennesz. 'Sunlight Mirroring' feels blissful; flutes fly out over cold crashing waves. The album finishes with the flickering static of ‘Shadows Through Time’ which gives way to a rich cello fleshing out the wall of noise, as crunchy distortion melts away into silence.

London imprint Drifted Records bring the heat with their second solo output in the catalogue. DR002 - Spirals EP, written by Dublin born, Berlin based wiz ‘New Members’, displays a distinct voyage of the beloved 90s era with a modern innovation.

Side A showcases the heavy, rolling drum patterns, airy dub chords and cleverly placed hats that you wanna’ be hearing at 4am on a packed dance floor, with both ‘Spirals’ and ‘Mythos’.

Following his debut release on kindred label Marginal Returns, Undersound is very happy to present a new EP by London-based producer and close friend @sohrab_dj. 

This EP showcases his wide ranging influences, with a diverse sound palette, while demonstrating his already-established personal aesthetic. 
The EP opens with “The Fool”, a steady four-to-the-floor track with esoteric eastern-tinged melodies, and continues with “Vertical Alignment”, a bassline-led emotional trip with interlocking evolving harmonies. 

The flip offers two contrasting moods: the rougher “Resolution”, a fast-paced late-night burner, and “Digital Bliss”, whose soothing synths evoke old school Goa vibes.
