Hi there! Jesse here. I'm so glad to finally present to you this new indie project! 🌻💌

The Shepherd was composed and recorded in a isolated village in the Swiss mountains. I was on retreat up there for over a year.
After releasing my third album in 2022 and thus concluding my folk-hop trilogy, I needed a little time to figure out what was next for me.
Combining my beloved folk music with the chill motion of the lofi hip-hop scene is invariably something that thrills me.
I wanted to keep on creating independent projects as this is where I feel the most free, but at the same time reinvent myself with a different theme.
It was then that, inspired by the natural world around me and its culture, I had the idea of creating an album in the format of a beat tape based on the symbolism of the shepherd.
A folk-hop project on physical cassette, which would be marked by a sound full of infectious dope vibes, soaking up beat tape patterns and old school arrangements. The project is made up of 15 tracks, instrumentals as well as several with lyrics and vocals that are mostly inspired by my christian beliefs and my attachment to God.
I love the symbolism of the shepherd, a solitary man in the mountains who takes care of his flock, while enjoying his simple rhythm of life. But I find myself even more in the position of the sheep, who without a guide, can so easily get lost. My prayer is that this humble project inspires reflection, and brings you a sense of comfort, softness and peace.
