The world-renowned Miami Music Week returns in its entirety in 2022. What better way to celebrate it than a compilation to mark the occasion? Making up our MMW VA, we welcome a host of international acts to the stage as they share an array of forward-thinking underground cuts!

Teknically Speaking blow the door wide open with ‘Titled’, bringing swinging grooves, jazzy melodies and soulful vocal arrangements to create a certified vibe-builder. ‘Look Out’ follows with Chris Brooks and Martin Bordacahar turning out a terrace-geared percussive jam with bottom-heavy beats, subtle harmonies and hooky vox constructions. Simon Salazar’s ‘Fergilicious’ ramps up the pace with driving rhythms and pulsating bass notes and a nostalgic vocal topline, churning out a guaranteed dancefloor heater - also accompanied by a stripped-back ‘Dub Mix’.

MartinoResi, Baraçal and Marcelo keep up the tempo with more percussive-driven mastery on ‘Tombo’, delivering a groove-laden mix of sturdy drums, captivating melodic factors and sultry vocal runs. Ivan Zorzolo and Julio Bravo’s ‘Crashed’ takes a deep dive, stripping back the energy and emphasising an underground feel via a heavyset kick and sub combo, scattered percs and glitchy sampling. Matt Arnold’s ‘Hero Or Nero’ showcases his increasingly-popular audio signature of tribal-tinged rolling beats and blossoming musicality, bringing weighty terrace rhythms and vivid injections of harmony from end to end.

JXR’s ‘Euphoria’ builds around layers of gritty leads, pads, and bass notes alongside punchy drum work and fizzing hat sequences for an undeniably danceable and charismatic cut. ‘Liket’ sees Matías Schaller dip back into the heavier end of the spectrum with colossal rhythmic sub-bass and big-room appeal from the outset, making it a prime time playlist pick. JP Torres closes the compilation with ‘Oh Right!’, keeping the energy at a resounding high level with a vocally-driven dancefloor weapon full of riveting cadence and unwavering intrigue from the very start.

Seeing if you’ve got the appetite for three house tracks pitching zippy 4x4 beats against congested rhythms, algorithms with hiccups and computer data looped into a lather, UK producer Copasetic tells you to open wide and get ‘Greedy’. Notable for a previous contribution to Clarisse’s volume five compilation with the Lucas MB collaboration ‘Bible Killin’, Copasetic won’t leave clubbers going hungry, kicking it to a host of labels serving up his finest ingredients. 
 
The title track piles its plate high and fills the channels with automated grooves, vocals trapped in the commotion, and programmed bumps, shuffles and bufferings. Haphazard on the surface, Copasetic arming himself with a stash of carefully aimed spanners to throw into the works, ‘Greedy’ is essentially a funky deep houser buzzing about the place and coaxing you to get into the music by saying that if it can’t sit still, then neither should you.
 
Resist ‘Resist’?  Not with that slick bassline sliding across the dancefloor, getting windows wound down and loosening your limbs over six minutes. Soulful vocals are integrated into Copasetic’s canvas where the essentials are fractured and on full alert, while straight ahead beats maintain control and provide breathing space.
 
With a touch of Kid Crème funkiness to it, ‘Waste of Space’ shouldn’t be so harsh on itself, a third funky bop housing a hive of activity, characters involved in a dancefloor argument, and a feeling, which sums up the EP, of Copasetic being in charge of some sort of rhythm revolving door slash blender, turning awkward moments into melodic pirouettes, zigzags and overlaps. As Gordon Gekko may have once said, ‘Greedy is good”.
