"When I picked records and songs for this mix I wanted to include a lot of tracks that are timeless and not trendy. Important tracks are in my arsenal of music. I don’t own CDJs so I did the mix on my 1200s. These songs kind of reflect the epitome of the sound in an underground party, from any era. I ended the mix with an old Get F*cked track, because I love that record, and it's perfect for closing out a party or a mix. Nathan Coles and I have been homies for over 20 years. I recorded the mix a few weeks before passed and it makes the mix mean something more to me than just doing a cool DJ mix. RIP Nathan Coles, I always share the gifts you gave us in the form of music, and you will live on thru the hundreds of songs."

Jim (Somersault) first asked me to come on the podcast 7 or so years ago to which I politely declined, with a mutual understanding that it wasn’t a firm no, it was a ‘not now’. As at the time I was looking for more established producers and he was just starting his trajectory into where we find him now. At the time I was working A&R for a local record label to which my manager and I agreed he was definitely one to keep an eye on. Better late than never, I finally hit reply late last year and with the years since we had become good friends and peers pursuing very similar musical aesthetics. 

So where do we find him now? Absolutely killing it. Right up there with one of Australia’s best house music producers backed up by record label signings from some of the most sought after house music labels globally such as powerhouse PIV, META, Audio Jack’s Gruuv and others. Now dividing his time between London and Australia his musical output is always worth seeking out. 

I’m very happy & proud to have Jim on for the first podcast of season 2. So let’s dive in with Somersault.

Pornbugs are a DJ and Producer duo who have been creating captivating music for the dancefloor since 2005. Here, they blend deep, tech-house, and minimal-house with soulful grooves to create an immersive dancefloore xperience. Pornbugs are known for keeping it real–and so is their raw and uplifting sound focuses on authenticity, quality, and honesty. Moreover, Pornbugs’ music has become known for its ability to connect people with their hearts and a deeper place in their souls. With their passion for pushing musical boundaries and constantly evolving their sound, Pornbugs have quickly made their mark. No wonder their sets have taken them to play in venues in North and South America and Europe, e. g. New York, Sao Paulo, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, London, and Barcelona. Still today, after more than 15 years, Pornbugs distinctive sound can be experienced at their "Bondage-Music Label Nights" in various locations in Berlin and their residency at the “Circle“-parties in Prague.

Almost at the same time as founding their DJ duo, they decided to start their label, BondageMusic, in 2006.With the label, they wanted to provide a platform for themselves and other artists to release their unique sound and bring the idea of captivating music to life. Since then, the label has be comeaforce to be reckoned with in global electronic dance music and was releasing music from talented artists such as Markus Homm, Dilby, James Dexter, Sascha Dive, and Mihai Popoviciu, to name a few. Bondage Music also hosts a weekly radio show every Sunday from 23:00 to midnight on Ibiza Global Radio, where you can listen to the label artists. Pornbugs are also working on further own releases in 2023, starting with an EP on the Acker Dub label in January 2023, followed by an EP on the Klauselle label and a track together with Cristina Lazic on Bondage-Music in February 2023 as well as another EP on the label Sublease Music, a sublabel of Steve Bugs Pokerflat label. So you better don't miss out on this dynamic duo pushing house music to new heights.

Bizen Lopez, born in Palma de Mallorca in 1987, found his passion in Hip Hop, which led him to pursue DJing, focusing on the art of Scratch from a young age. His music has gained recognition from notable artists such as Richie Hawtin, Joseph Capriatti, and Adam Beyer, and he has released tracks on labels like Stereo Productions and Moan Recordings. In 2018, his track “I Feel Like” topped the Hype Tech House charts, while “Analog Vibes” reached the Top 4 in Minimal-Deep. With a style rooted in Techno, Tech House, and Minimal, infused with dub influences, his DJ sets are known for their powerful groove, making him a sought-after performer in clubs worldwide, including Sankeys Ibiza and Supermarket Club Zurich.
