With a penchant for off-kilter drum and bass, bass, dub and dubstep, sina meticulously curates sets that mix and match elements of atmospheric trip hop, murky post-DnB and the mischievous 2-step sounds of the 90/00s. Witnessing sina grace the decks at Inward Goods festival was a nostalgic luxury - I felt like I’d stepped into some form of magical Y2k swamp party, where only the best of early 2000s drum and bass were being thrown down. Sina’s contributions to the community extend beyond the decks and into the realm of party planning and label curation (Secret World) whilst also forming ⅓ of the band dregs. I first met Pjenne in the Bookar Crater at the inaugural Inner Varnika festival in 2017. Only moments after our introduction we were hugging and swaying together, to an unforgettable set by my brother Ben. Little did I know she had already played at the festival before I’de arrived and would soon become one of my favourite disk jockeys. 

Pjenne’s sets all manage to have a unique and alluring atmosphere, a vibe that permeates itself no matter the style or genre she’s exploring. Each set brings a sonic embrace, a warmth similar to that which I felt when we first met. 

This mix is no different, a certified classic of dubbed jams mined from the depths of ’89 to ’03. Please Enjoy!

"This mix was closing Supercamp festival’s last ever edition, from 6 to 8pm on a sunday. Therefore we thought we do a reverse journey of intensity, starting with 140 pressure taking our time to slow all the way down to 120 during the 2hours - hitting 130 with mellow dub techno cuts or classic-feel ukg, and ending with a series of (very) warm closing tracks upon closing tracks. You’ll know by now that Bambi and Beatrice M. are pretty different in their approach to DJing, which makes it all the more interesting and fun for them to find the lovely middle ground they pleasantly settle in during their b2bs. A long time coming, this new chapter in our Podcast Series comes from our dear friend and one of our favourite live artists, dan nicholls. We’d have a hard time counting exactly how many times we’ve seen them concoct their colourful sonic potions, effortlessly merging multi-layered depth with soft playfulness, oscillating between meditative horizontal sounds, spoken word and field recordings and high energy bass infected half & double time dance workouts. To witness an artist in pursuit of their genuine expression succeed in building a world of their own while being versatile and open is a beautiful thing to behold and we feel so lucky to be able to share this little peek into Dan’s workshop, in the form a live set recording from Brussels’ Brasserie Atlas ✨

dan nicholls is a producer and multi-instrumentalist exploring sounds at the crossroads of ambient, electronica, jazz and free improvisation. Over the years, Dan has moved on from a career in jazz, via electronic music, to a heartfelt embrace of rave culture and the feminist and queer theories which are all strongly present in the current iteration of their solo projects and collaborations. With a powerful grasp on world building with, through and beyond sound, they co-curate the London-based Free Movements - a multi-sensory event series hosting genre fluid experimental music performances crossing both acoustic and electronic realms 🔮

In the true spirit of their highly collaborative workflow ~ always in the process of making with and through people and other-than-human critters, culture & politics ~ this improvised recording features voices of tyroneisaacstewart, Lauren Kinsella, Juju Love, Moor Mother, Gillie Nicholls, Janet Blake and Palestinian activist whose words contribute in different ways to amplifying of marginalised ideas. And it seems that for every word, there is a sound to match, a little something that carries its weight, gives it a warm embrace and lets it slip in our ears with tenderness and gravity to be remembered through feeling. There’s only one way to know and that’s to press play and listen 🐚

i thought it important to stay true to the emotions that birthed seed. so the first one is from me 

i found this process very difficult, got stuck in the headspace of wanting to make it a good ‘mix’ but it just not working while staying true to these feelings. and i realised that it’s not meant to be make sense, feeling these emotions simultaneously is jarring, it’s abrupt highs and lows, it’s stop and start, it’s silence. cold and warm. it’s the complete disruption of flow following slight cohesion- conflicting. it’s disrupted diversions into altering soundscapes

i had a go at this a few times, and this version was my last attempt. i cried the whole way through and it was on that very spicy full moon, it’s raw- but it’s honest

Samuel　

Samuel, born in Amsterdam, but currently based in Antwerp has been involved in the techno scene for several years. The Dutch DJ joined Monument first as a writer in 2017, which he was eager to do due to his increased passion for techno and ambient music over the years. Not much later he also picked up the mantle of MNMT’s head of podcast. Sam performed his very first DJ gig In June of 2019 at MNMT Festival, with a 2-hour melancholic ambient mix as the opening of the final day of the festival, to which he was overwhelmed with all the positive feedback. This gig motivated him to focus more and more on his development as a DJ. Having been involved with the scene for several years, Sam is focussing more and more on his own DJing and is honoured to have been invited to make Undulate’s first podcast mix

予想以上に評判がよくこれをキッカケにDJに熱心をもちはじめる。
 DJにフォーカスしている今 Undulateのポッドキャストに初フィーチャリングされ光栄に思っている。

Let music breathe, resonate with life surroundings in concrete jungle. Taku Hirayama has been on decks since 2000. Hailing from Fukuoka, south Japan, now based in Hong Kong for over a decade. By mixing various style of music, expanding interpretation of dance music with his own taste and careful decision. Keeps updating himself with his own party "Junktion" which connects numbers of DJ’s DJs and upcoming hidden talents across the globe. Himself also travels from the industrial city to various inspirational dancefloors in the world.
When his favourite trippy groove is on control, music can be spread smoothly and extensively. It grows certain kind of positive energy towards to sunrise. Besides holding crowds on dancefloor, he keeps trying to make waves in and out with surprise. Even if he plays deep mind bending sound, or gentle hypnotic sound, or even old school gems, there is deep connection with control and release, consistent groove and constant waves in his set.


90年代後半の地元福岡でのパーティー体験を機にDJを始め、現在まで約20年に渡って活動を続けている。テクノやハウスといったエレクトロニックミュージックを軸に、エクスペリメンタルな音や多彩なリズム、過去に影響を受けて来た新旧様々な音楽を織り交ぜ、ダンスミュージックを自由に解釈。またインダストリアルシティや旅からのインスピレーションも重ねながら独自のトリッピーグルーヴの探求を続けている。2013年より自身でオーガナイズを続けるパーティー “Junktion” においても、有名無名問わず世界中の感度の高いアーティスト達と音の交差を繰り返しながら、音楽観を常にアップデートしている。香港での活動は10年を超え、シーンが成熟して来ているアジア・中国圏、そしてヨーロッパや海外各地のパーティーやフェスティバルなど多様なダンスフロアでプレイ経験を重ねる。

Tatsuoki (Broad/JP)

He started his DJ career in April 2011. He considers his music as an object in three dimensions. He always has his own logical thinking and emphasizes deep sounds includes Techno. He plays quality genre-less music which is the best match with the dance floor and his play style gets evaluation. Today he became one of the most promising DJs in the scene. Tatsuoki launched his own party Broad at Daikanyama AIR in November 2012 which is regularly held at Contact today, and it has been successful every time with the style of welcoming artists from diverse fields, from domestic to international.
Tatsuoki released his podcast from Dino Sabatini’s Outis Music in Italy in March 2016, and also from Vitamin Cubes in Eastern Europe Georgia in 2017. He is continuously showing his further success.

子供の頃は田園地帯で生まれ育ち、上京後の2011年4月より現場でのDJをスタートさせる。音楽を三次元に在る1つの物体として捉え、彼独自の論理的な思考を常に持ち、フロアを読みながら最適なチューニングを心掛ける。さらにその中で自由奔放さを大いに出してくるプレイスタイルは定評があり、今後期待されるDJの1人だ。2012年11月に代官山AIRでスタートした彼が主宰を手掛けるBroadは、現在もContactにて開催を続けており、海外と国内の多方面からアーティストを迎える雑食スタイルで毎回盛況を得ている。
2016年3月にDino Sabatini主宰イタリアのOutis Musicを皮切りに、2017年に東欧ジョージア、2018年はドイツと韓国からPodcastをリリースし、更には現地でプレイもする等の活躍を見せている。

IORI

Hailing from Okinawa, now-Tokyo-based producer IORI once cut his teeth as an assistant for David Mancuso’s revered party, The Loft, in New York City, where he learnt a meticulous sonic mentality from his audiophile mentor. This permeates his carefully-handled arrangements, which have helped make his name and define a series of spacey, atmospheric originals and remixes for proponent imprints like Phonica and Prologue to name but a few.
Since his striking 2009 debut, Galaxy, which took its cue from Basic Channel and Manuel Gottsching, the Japanese producer has developed an immensely expressive dubbed-out sound in his own right. The first culmination of that is 2012’s excellent
Nexus album for Bitta, a label owned by Far Eastern rising star DJ Nobu, seeing his ambient productions sit nicely with his hypnotic dance tunes.
Two year stay in Berlin in early 2010s helped IORI gain a foothold in the international stage. He has since traveled across Europe, validating his characteristic meditative techno set, which is just the tip of his huge musical iceberg that ranges from low-slung house to leftfield oddballs. Despite his return to Japan in 2015, his presence remains strongly felt through frequent European tours.
2016 saw IORI release the Cold Radiance album, where his sci-fi ambient side grew fully- fledged. For an artist that has produced immersive and spacious pieces, it was a logical continuation of his extensive career as a producer. Eschewing the club-orientated perspective, it certainly proved IORI’s expressional depth and does justice to his artistic intention, his acute ears for spellbinding details standing out in sharp relief, which raised expectations of his promising future. 渋谷頭バーにてDAYBREAK、青山蜂にてUNISENSEを主催。日本を代表するTechno DJをブッキングする。2019年FUSIONのcrewとして日本を代表するクラブであるVENTにてパーティーのオーガナイズを始動。DeepbassやDelta Funktionenを招聘する。今みんなに伝えたい海外のTechnoアーティストにフォーカスを当て、アンダーグラウンドシーンを盛り上げる。また、Rødhådが牽引する世界最高峰のテクノレーベルDystopianの10周年レーベルショーケースでは、メインアクトとしてプレイする。﻿
淡々とした流れの中でも常に心地よく踊ることができ、音楽の世界にのめり込むようなDeepなTechnoを選曲する。DJ名の由来通り、宇宙を彷彿させる空間をプロデュースすることを追求している。﻿
ドイツやイタリアのPodcastからMixを配信するなど、活動の場を広げている。

Finsent C (Cipher/HK)

Finsent C is an artist native to Hong Kong, who has seen his sound evolve innumerably since his initial foray into DJing in 2009. Having been a drummer and member of a local band in his formative years, he eventually sought refuge in electronic music; cultivating a sound that can best be described as fluid, and with an emphasis on the hypnotic spectrum of techno. He perceives sets as flowing journeys, which requires time, and an element of patience to achieve.

His music project - Cipher, is a metaphor for his musical direction and vision – 'experiencing' parties that verge on the ritualistic, to which point they have been described as otherworldly. 
Artists both locally and internationally continue to be invited to express their various forms of deep, experimental and meditative sounds.

Finsent Cは香港出身のアーティストで、2009年にDJとしての活動を開始して以来、彼のサウンドは無数の進化を遂げてきた。地元のバンドでドラマーとして活躍していた彼は、やがてエレクトロニックミュージックの世界に身を置き、Technoの中でも催眠的なスペクトルを強調した流動的とも言えるサウンドを生み出している。彼はセットを流れるような旅だと考えており、それには時間が必要であり、達成するためには忍耐の要素が必要である。

彼の音楽プロジェクトである Cipher は、彼の音楽的な方向性とビジョンのメタファーであり、儀式的なPartyを体験することで、異世界のようなものと表現されている。
国内外のアーティストを招待し、深く、実験的で瞑想的なサウンドを様々な形で表現し続けている。
