A PORT OF CALM

Natural Tuning consists of the pitch reference frequency and of pure intervals, whose frequency ratios are the quotients of natural numbers.
All is based on the natural overtone series.

I have recorded the acoustic guitar in my home-studio with the doors open, you can hear some background noises like birds, cars in the distance. I have added a drone to the recording and a strange delay which sampled fragments from the recorded guitar and randomly give it back.

About the album:
I have continued to work with A=432Hz tuning, exploring the possibilities of sustained sounds. I have been working towards an even more static atmosphere than on my previous albums.

I'm very interested in the role of time in this kind of music. The sounds have a different effect and meaning depending on how long they last. To me, the music becomes a vehicle to accomplish a meditative state.

Crazy Compass & The Black Diamond Train - TELE VISION (CD+book)

The "Croisière du monde", our collaborative album in progress with Roberto B (@user-55822457 and @robertoiib) that focuses on film music but with much variation and cross-genre influences, continues here with its 4th track, "Pourquoi je n'arrive pas à dormir ?" - or, in (our preferred) English translation, "Why Can't I Sleep?". This is another longer track but we hope that the progression and variations in the beauty of the music will entice the listener to the end.

The track was created in collaboration on 28 September 2021 (initial mix and recording in MAGIX by Roberto B), 15-16 October 2021 (subsequent additions, mix and recording in GarageBand and Logic Pro by Alex M) and 18 October 2021 (final mix in Logic Pro by Alex M), and posted on SC on 22 October 2021 (by Alex M).

The artwork cover for the album and all its constituent tracks was designed and implemented by Alex M on 29 June 2021 (in Tayasui Sketch in Mac OS), cropped by Alex M (in Mac OS Preview) on 30 June 2021, and annotated with text by Alex M (in Mac OS Preview) on 2 October 2021 - in coordination and agreement with Roberto B.

Thank you so much, Roberto - for the beautiful musical ideas that inspire again our new collaborations in this ongoing "musique de film" - and more - album, "Croisière du monde"!
