My set from the Unison 5 event on Oct 23rd, 2020.

I joined over 55 DJs representing nearly 30 crews for UNISON 5, a 2-day live stream celebration benefiting The Fire Response Fund of the Community Foundation - Santa Cruz County. They are working to aid residents who have been displaced by the CZU fire.

It was a stellar event and I was honored to be a part of it.

Beginning our series of releases from our recent Unison 5 event is this beautiful opener from Ethan and Flo. We have many feelings that come up from this mix and Flo and Ethan's words sum them up:

A Mix for an on line fundraising event entitled Unison 5.   This is some dark funky broken ghetto techno.    That's my best description.  There is an edge to this mix, it's not for everyone but perfect for these troubling times.

2020 has been quite the year, culminating (at least for now) with the 2020 US elections. For my set for Unison 5 (@unison_stream), I decided to try and add a layer to the music by creating a poem through the track titles of what's played, in the order they're played. In addition, all the tracks were released before 2016—a happier and more sane time. 

Aside from the poem, the music is a high energy electro breaks set but within it still has an energetic journey that was cathartic and for me, emotional. I hope you enjoy it.

Stuart Hill Robinson has been working in SF Bay Area music and entertainment off and on for over 20 years, having been a promoter for Clockwork Events and Funky Techno Tribe in the late 1990s and early 2000s, along with conventional DJ/MC work for Sound In Motion Events.
