From the Middle East to Central America and Russia, a trio of artists blend their talents. Out of the darkness and into the light, Golan Zocher, Gux Jimenez and Mango build a stratified sonic masterpiece from “Only a Shadow”. Subtle organic layers amble through a forest of percussive saplings that sit beneath a towering beat and subterranean groove. Emerging in the dappled moonlit shadows, evocative motifs create an eerie atmosphere before a bassline force springs from the undergrowth and into the open, prowling beneath luscious melody.

Harnessing familiar energies from the darkness, Dowden hypnotises with a new poise and grace. “Only a Shadow” forms in the twilight as white noise crashes in pulsating waves. A mesmerising bassline hits the Toronto streets where it forges a path through pinpricks of melodic light and a seething, rolling rhythmic groove. A pioneering sonic architecture is forged from exquisite St Petersburg and Sao Paulo landscapes. Bassline and synth lines fire off each other in playful interaction and melodic beauty swirls in coruscating patterns of delay and intrigue. “Only a Shadow” is transformed into an iridescent array of sonic colour and uplifting brio by K Loveski & Gorkiz.

The well known argentinian artist Juan Deminicis @juandeminicis returns to Univack with 'The Middle Path', an Organic House track that shows the unique style of Juan, full of armonic elements, atmospheric pads, and warm grooves.  

The Ep is completed with an epic remix by the Polish producer and Manchester-based, Greg Ochman @gregochman , who uses the original sources to built a very personal version of the orginal track, with the genuin sound that Greg achieves in his productions. We can not imagine a better tandem for this new Univack's release.

Juan Deminicis - The Middle Path (Original Mix)

As 2022 opens its doors, Izzet returns to Particles "With Hope". First making his debut over a decade ago on NewBorn Records, further work in the intervening years has seen the Russian artist feature on the likes of Liquid Grooves, Proton Limited and Clinique. A clutch of releases between 2018 and 2021 then saw him feature on Particles with the "Summer Goodbye" and "Abstraction Distraction" EPs, plus remixes for Pole Folder, Savvas and Rafa'EL.

"With Hope" is a powerful glistening progressive house offering with rich piano sequences and emotive bassline sustaining their presence throughout. Waxing and waning in laconic fashion at a stripped back breakdown, new musical elements come to the fore through muted synths and textured pads. A deep kick and rolling groove add to the aural melange in a smooth and beautifully arranged offering. Partner track, "Puncher" offers the same rich melodic framework, as reverse synths make their play against a growing bassline force that sits below in subtly incongruous fashion. Beautiful piano elements are introduced at the mid-point breakdown and into the third movement as a tight percussive groove provides the perfect accompaniment for the surrounding melodic elements.

Bangalore based artist, Weird Sounding Dude, has found himself much in-demand throughout 2021 with a plethora of music signed to a host of blue chip imprints that included Mango Alley, Clubsonica Records, onedotsixtwo and the behemoth that is Anjunadeep. With over 200 production credits to his name, the fast-growing Indian star now debuts on Particles with an immaculate reinterpretation of "With Hope" that captures the essence of Izzet's original. Transforming into a floor-filling gem that shimmers with percussive energy and subtle synth elements from "With Hope" original parts shine through in gated and filtered fashion to create a vibrant new track. A head-shaking rhythm section add weight and gravitas throughout in an impressive remix.

An artist forging a distinctive creative path with his blend of progressive house and melodic techno, Mayro has grown significantly since a 2016 debut for Renensanz. A raft of original material has subsequently found its way onto the likes of Lowbit, Siona Records and Traful, supported by a stellar cast of A-list DJs that include Nick Warren, Eelke Kleijn, Miss Monique and Matan Caspi. Making his Particles debut, Mayro has created a sparkling rework of "Puncher" that carries the central melodic theme of the original while surrounding it in a swathe of new production material. A heavy kick and bassline groove provide gravity while an intricately programmed percussive top-line adds flair and depth. A filtered arpeggio from Izzet's track filters to the fore, providing familiarity as the track progresses into an evolving second half, while the dynamic rhythmic force creates a sultry and seething dancefloor powerhouse.

"With Hope", Izzet provides a bright and powerful start to 2022, perfectly supported by Weird Sounding Dude and Mayro.

The latest offering from Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint finds the label presenting new interpretations of Nopi's ‘Hookan Idyll'. Originally released in October of 2020 as part of the Ukrainian's well-received ‘Where to Go' EP, it's deeper design and hopeful atmospheres charmed DJs and fans alike, proving once again what an exceptional talent Nopi has become. Now bringing new life to the much-loved track, Sound Avenue invites Forty Cats, Meeting Molly and Pedro Capelossi to re-imagine the production for 2022.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of ‘Hookan Idyll' is Forty Cats. With well over a decade's worth of DJ experience, Russian artist Christina Gavrilova aka Forty Cats has been a fixture of her country's nightlife, sharing the stage with Jody Wisternoff, Nick Warren, Yotto, Dave Seaman and more. Christina's production debut landed three years ago via 8bit Music, and in relatively short order the Russian artist has gone on to release projects via Lane 8's This Never Happened, Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Juicebox Music and Mango Alley. Having made her Sound Avenue debut in January with a well-received remix of Eric Lune's ‘Dreaming Home', Forty Cats now makes a welcome return with an equally stunning take on ‘Hookan Idyll'. Smooth and rhythmic throughout, the Russian artist goes deep and driving for what results in a hypnotic eight-minute journey. Meditative lines, gentle tonal themes and intoxicating atmospheres unite across the first act, perfectly setting up an effects-laden break. Acid-like lines and ghostly vocal fragments emerge as the centrepiece evolves, adding a trippy flair as the narrative builds onwards to a thumping drop and colourful finale.

With his star brightly on the rise, Konstantin Kuranakov has carved out a sizeable niche via his Jiminy Hop production pseudonym. Now debuting on Meanwhile, he confirms again as one of the artists to watch in 2022 with the mesmerising “Johlin” EP.

Inspired by a love of underground house with a dash of techno thrown in for good measure, Jiminy Hop is no stranger to playlists of DJ elite. Initially inspired by David August’s Boiler Room mix, the Russian producer now counts heavyweights, Sahar Z, Hernan Cattaneo and Alex O’Rion as supporters of his work.

With almost 300 production credits to his name, Jiminy Hop has released his music on an array of esteemed independent imprints as the likes of Juicebox Music, Kiksuya Records, Art Vibes and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden have all played host to a collection of original and remix production material. Now making himself an instant favourite on GMJ & Matter’s ever-reliable imprint, “Johlin” is a beautifully constructed offering that oozes quality with its cavernous sub-bass groove and shuffling hi-hat percussive line. Progressing with delicately twinkling synth lines, velvety pads swell and ethereal vocals melt into the mid-range. Hitting the heights with a rousing breakdown crescendo, “Johlin” drops into a powerful bassline stormer in the second half to devastating effect as sympathetic piano motifs hit the spot.

Immediately establishing itself with powerful bassline sequence and textured pads, “Solunar” continues the progressive house journey. Through use of counterpoint melodies and shimmering synth motif, the track gently develops over its 8-minute timeframe as white-noise effects and risers build tension at the mid-point. Reverting to the strong bassline theme and metronomic rhythmic pattern in the second half, combined with a cascading synth line, the result is an impressive addition to the EP.

The final track sees “Colatrix” impress with its deep kick and off-beat house rhythm. Gently pulsating through a swathe of side-chained pads, a trademark bassline sequence emerges through the textured melange while arpeggiated synth lines filter into sonic range. Another beautifully sculpted breakdown sequence showcases Jiminy Hop’s skills in abundance as coruscating sounds blend effortlessly against a dynamic percussive backdrop.

A very welcome addition to the Meanwhile family, Jiminy Hop hits the ground running with “Johlin”.

Premiere: Juan Deminicis - Water ft. Mila Belini (Dimuth K Remix) [Proton Music]

Released in March 2021, Simos Tagias and his “Euphoria / Emotion” created a sublime musical moment, frozen in time. A year later and Meanwhile returns to the EP with a pair of remixes from Paul Deep and label owners, GMJ & Matter.

Plying his trade from an early age as a DJ across the Buenos Aries province, Paul Deep has an innate understanding of the music that moves club-goers. Able to translate this knowledge into the production arena, the Argentinean has had a stream of successful releases on the underground electronic industry’s finest imprints. From Tale & Tone and Juicebox Music to The Soundgarden and Sudbeat Music, Paul Deep has continued to see his music supported by the DJ elite. Releasing the “Deeper Dye” EP on Meanwhile in June 2021, Paul produced a quartet of tracks that showcased his skill and craftsmanship, followed by an appearance of “Excursions, Vol. 1” two months later with “Milo”.

A debut remix of Roger Martinez in late 2020 is now followed by a typically chunky rhythmic foundation that rolls effortlessly across his interpretation of “Euphoria”. Underneath a tight percussive groove, strains of Tagias’ central motif can be heard that flow over a subterranean bassline. Building with consummate ease, new melodies and additional production from the Paul Deep production portfolio emerge, making their presence felt at the breakdown. Making intelligent use of the remix components, a dark and seething dancefloor destroyer explodes into life in the second half to powerful effect.

GMJ & Matter need little introduction to the Meanwhile literati. A DJ and production pair at the height of their respective powers, the curation and development of their Meanwhile name has been impeccable. Peppering the release schedule with sparkling original productions and 24-carat remixes, the duo’s “Lost on Origin” and “The Path / Perfect Storm” EPs have been notable highlights in the Meanwhile catalogue.

Returning for their second remix after an appearance alongside Paul Deep reworking “80s” from Roger Martinez’s “Cosmic” EP, the GMJ & Matter remix of “Emotion” burns brightly with dancefloor energy. Creating a new cadence from Tagias’ central melodic progression, shimmering synths ripple out in overlapping waves while pulsating pads drive their interpretation forward with elemental force. New motifs, infused with white-noise, fizz and sparkle as they cascade across the beatless breakdown, held in check by a rolling percussion. Dropping back into a sumptuous bassline synergy in the third movement, haunting vocals and immaculately programmed synth phrasing creates a remix of rare and quality and memorable production euphoria.

Through uplifting remixes from Paul Deep and GMJ & Matter, Simos Tagias has created a new state of ecstasy with his “Euphoria” EP.

An artist with a rich musical catalogue to his name stretching back almost 15 years, David Molano is well-established through his Dabeat production pseudonym. With music signed to the likes of Timeless Moment, Mango Alley and BeatFreak Recordings, his work with Kamilo Sanclemente on Proton Music has produced a clutch of impressive releases, not least on his contribution to "Beyond the Future, Vol. 1" and the 6 original tracks. Now making his solo debut, the 3-track "Equilibrium" EP showcases Dabeat's distinctive production work.

Opening proceedings, "Cauac" powers forward with driving beat and offbeat hi-hats while a muted arpeggio filters into sonic range. Hypnotically rising and falling, atmospheric synth layers arrive at the breakdown before new melodies ripple across the second half with grace and poise. "Equilibrium" continues the rich rhythmic backdrop as a delightful bass groove enters the fray, accompanied a smooth array of pads and arpeggio. The resultant combination is a joy to behold as counterpoint motifs combine with a vocoded vocal phrase to provide a light and airy feel. The third track finds "Torus" making its mark with meticulously programmed groove and ticking percussing top-line. A smooth analogue synth line appears in gloriously distorted fashion, captivating attention as it meanders across the near 8-minute piece. New melodies make their presence felt as the track progresses in a dynamic and creative environment.

On remix duties, Subandrio Sinhawansa is a name synonymous with quality. An award-winning Middle East DJ of the year, the Colombo based producer has ridden a wave of success with his music on Juicebox Music, Perspectives Digital and Sudbeat Music. A sextet of remixes for Proton Music has seen the Sri Lankan star provide moments of sonic joy with his reworkings of Andre Sobota, Juan Deminicis and Trilucid, as the Subandrio remix of "Torus" builds menacingly from a glorious bassline groove and syncopated rolling percussion. Familiar melodies from Dabeat's original soon make an appearance but it is through Subandrio's glorious musical expression that new melodic patterns and sequences create their own sonic story. Flowing in atmospheric vein across nearly 10 minutes, a deep and rich sonic journey reveals itself to find Subandrio at the top of his production game.

Subconscious Tales is another name familiar to the Proton faithful. Having recently released his "Experience" EP in April 2022, the Latvian artist has contributed to a raft of other original material that includes July 2019's "Magnectares" and December 2020's "Soulreaper". Remixes of David Calo and Soulwerk are now followed by a third which sees a typically vibrant reworking of "Cauac". Built upon whip-cracking kick and fizzing percussive intent, a dynamic bassline groove fills the low-end before a new arpeggio referencing the Dabeat original fills the stereo spectrum. Evolving with ease, familiar refrains blend through production material from the Subconscious Tales studio in glorious analogue glory. The result is a typically high-quality production.

Reaching a glorious state of "Equilibrium", original music from Dabeat is joined by sublime remixes from Subandrio and Subconscious Tales.

Talented Australian producer Liam Sieker combines his musical knowledge with Wilma where together they create a unique single that is part of the release of the same name "Wings Of Serenity"! This masterful EP has as many as three originals and two remixes, of which the above was done in collaboration, while only Liam is credited for the remaining two. On remix duty two strong names from the progressive and organic house scene, which would be called "deja vu" of top musicians, and in this case are RIGOONI and Fabri Lopez!
