'Madman is the new musical travel by the young duo Depart, from Istanbul. This track has been made during a night walk along the beach of Izmir in Turkey, a walk toward balance and inner readjustment. At that time the singer of the duo had reached a point where he was feeling stuck in his life to the extent of madness: « scraping his scars just to feel alive ».

The best remedy to this situation was to put it into words. He, thus, decided to impersonate his own role in the song and call himself a Madman as a representation of all the frustration and weight he was carrying away on his shoulders.

This record is for everyone feeling stranded in their life, it’s about accepting vulnerability instead of stiffness, it’s about embracing your inner self, in the ups as in the lows, instead of fighting it. This record means a lot to the duo as it helped them going through that rough time, they hope this will now help many more people who are facing the same obstacles in their reality.

The EP comes with a hypnotic and high percussive reinterpretation from dOP, a mesmerizing down tempo remix from Moon’s Voyager and a stellar deep house remix from the Birds of Mind.

Martijn Ravesloot aka Melawati makes music out of mistakes. He comes from an indie background but has always admired Aphex Twin while playing in bands such as The Subs and working in theatre. He has a love of experimenting with soundwaves that gives rise to his complex, experimental and improvised sounds. He first met Maceo Plex while jamming and that session turned into the track 'Daliah' which dropped on Ellum Audio and was remixed by Tale of Us. After that, Melawati wrote this most absorbing and beautiful album during the pandemic in a dark studio attic in the heart of Brussels. He set about recording live experiments on analog synths and then deconstructed and reconstructed them into the tracks presented here. The angelic tones of guest vocalist Lisa Jane feature on two tracks though the pair have never met, and Melawati is now set to take his impressive live show to Tomorrowland. His life has changed since writing the album, he now has two children and lives on a farm, but the power of this music where organic and alien worlds intersect remains utterly compelling.

The Munich-based label Plattenbank, led by Guy Manzur, presents a striking two track release that brings together an unexpected artistic collaboration. While ECHO DAFT has previously contributed to Plattenbank with tracks on the fifth and ninth editions of the label's bestselling compilation, Secrets, this marks the first official release showcasing his studio partnership with Kebin Van Reeken. Both artists have built strong international followings, and their combined efforts have resulted in a seamlessly crafted 17-minute sonic journey that could stand as one of the creative high points in their careers.

The opening track, Years of Ascent, sets the tone with a hypnotic groove and distinctive percussion, stirring deep-seated memories and invoking instinctive movement reminiscent of ancient ceremonial dances. At the same time, its refined production techniques ensure an immersive experience, whether played through massive festival sound systems or in more intimate club settings.
