Opening 2022's final quarter, Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Mike Griego back to the label for a new EP. Based in Buenos Aires, the Argentinean DJ and producer has carved out a unique place in the electronic underground. His exacting design, addictive grooves and avant-garde melodies have made for a transcendent sound that continues to unify dancefloors around the world. With a career that now approaches fifteen years and one hundred discography credits, Mike would have to be considered one of progressive music's elite artists. A meticulous discography reflects his choosy nature; with Replug and Sudbeat serving as the primary landing spots for his musical output. With 2021 being highlighted by his most recent Replug vehicle ‘Dysbiosis', the Argentine made a much-lauded return to Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music earlier this year with ‘Foreign Affair', before laying down impressive renditions of Kasper Koman's ‘In Circles' and Dmitry Molosh & Navar's ‘Foreign Wonders', released c/o Juicebox Music and Proportion respectively. Now, continuing what has been a great year, Mike returns to Replug with a three-track showcase entitled ‘Flying Doves'. 

As a favourite of Replug label boss Cid Inc across the summer season, EP opener and title selection ‘Flying Doves' finds Mike at his creative best. Shot in high-definition and full of detail and drive, it's an emotive voyage where the Buenos Aires resident flexes his freethinking muscles and lands comfortably in-between groove-centric science and hopeful musicality. The inevitable zenith of this peak-time excursion mounts with nostalgic melodies and balmy harmonics converging, achieving a rich, colourful timbre over a bed of pulsating beats and fascinating percussion arrangements. 

More enigmatic yet is the EPs second selection 'Brothi'', a creation which finds Mike etching towards a darker monochrome. Plush kick drums and voluptuous bass stabs lead to electrified iterations of new age sonics. Cleverly cadenced coactions underpin a fascinating blend of pyrotechnic effects, before segueing into the main break where metallic melodies and effervescent rides unite, setting the course for a finale of rebounding rhythms and surreal sonic aesthetics.

The third and final selection 'Blood Echo' further solidifies Mike's transcendent abilities. Possessing a dramatic undercurrent, the Argentine works hypnotizing structures over punchy kick drums and detailed percussion, creating waves of locomotive meditation. Its thrilling pulse has become a production hallmark for Mike, one where inventive drum patterns, mesmerizing rhythms and quixotic effects carry the storyboard onwards to a thunderous dance floor awakening. A fitting conclusion to a fresh three-track odyssey, one where Mike carefully balances technique and musicality, thus continuing his tenure as one of Argentina's most beloved progressive house producers.

Roger Martinez's Higher States opens the new year by welcoming FJL to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Rosario, the Argentinean artist first emerged in 2020 with a contribution to BC2's ‘Novus' collection, a track which would tip him as a name to watch in the world of progressive house. Further successes would come across the next three calendar years, with key projects via Or Two Strangers, Mango Alley and Sound Avenue highlighting his resume, in turn earning the support of Above & Beyond, Ezequiel Arias, Hernan Cattaneo, Roy Rosenfeld, Khen, Mariano Mellino and Nick Warren, amongst others. With his latest Mango Alley vehicle ‘Fixation' starting the year on a high note, FJL continues on an upwards trajectory with his Higher States debut ‘Forgotten Angels'.

FJL continues to explore his club-effective style on the lead selection ‘Forgotten Angels'. Fluid and energetic throughout, it's a framework of warm kick drums and full basslines which lay the foundation for flashing percussion, and shape shifting atmospheres to create a smooth first act. Emotive key changes flow through the groove, as muted tones and airy gates rise across the main break, adding a cosmic character into the mix and setting the course for a tastefully uplifting finale.

Surveying a darker monochrome is selection two 'Night Creatures' which further cements FJL's dancefloor minded ethos. Its rippling drive is anchored by powerful beats and capsizing bass stabs; nicely accented with a clever co-ax of driving percussion and orbiting effects. A tension-filled break sits at the core of the journey, gently melting down to an array of interplanetary clusters and a thumping peaktime conclusion.

Selection three 'No Return' showcases FJL's repertoire further with a smooth and equally powerful journey. Clocking in at eight minutes in length, the Rosario resident's creative prowess shines once again, as he crafts a lively club cut that is rich in rhythm, groove and atmosphere. Thunderous basslines, hopeful pads and a capsizing swing create a perfect balance of hypnotic energy, before giving way to a mystical break and groove-centric finale that's sure to leave a lasting memory on the dancefloor.

An artist with a diverse and storied relationship with the dance music scene, GMJ & Matter are proud to see Kasper Koman make his label debut with the twin-track "Sinking Sky / Biome". A veteran of more than a century of production credits dating back to a 2008 debut, Kasper Koman has seen his work signed to myriad high-profile labels including the likes of Plattenbank, Anjunadeep and Guy J's Lost & Found. From central Netherlands, Kasper has combined trademark emotion with a powerful and evocative sound that has seen his music supported by such leading tastemakers as Guy Mantzur, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J himself. Now debuting on Meanwhile, the "Sinking Sky" opener is characterised by a driving beat and metronomic hi-hat pattern. A running 16th note bassline pattern enters the fray in the second movement with a fizzing vibrancy provided by resonating and filtered effects. A cast of additional characters add to the overall sonic landscape including a beautifully juxtaposed pad progression. A spine-tingling breakdown provides acetylene-edged emotion via the extended bassline motif, before hitting its stride once more in the latter stages to wondrous effect and no small amount of production talent. "Biome" continues the narrative of raw effects-laden power, while a strong kick lays the foundation for a piercing percussive groove, adding swing to the off-beat. A well-crafted sonic palette supplies a soft chord progression of Kraftwerk-inspired imagination as a meandering array of well-placed effects, white-noise washes and rasping bass notes create a mosaic of sounds. The result is a hypnotic, angular offering that keeps listener interest piqued without a central melody seeing the 6-minute piece fly past in an instant. 'Delusion'' is an special Progressive House track, with a lot of elements which make an amazing groove with its percussions and synth sounds. Maybe it has less melodic elements  than other tracks by this artist, but it's more exciting an effective for the hottest moments of your sets.

'Whale Voices' is a track halfway between Organic House and Progressive House, track with a lot of melodic and percussive elements, which print a magical, epic and emotional harmony, specially in its breakdown. An amazing piece that shows the versatility of this great artist.
