EARLY IN THE MORNING

« Early in the Mornin' » a la structure d’un blues de douze mesures. Elle est créditée à Jordan, au bassiste de Tympany Five Dallas Bartley et à Leo Hickman et a été diversement décrite comme une rumba, une samba, une chanson influencée par le calypso et un « numéro à saveur caribéenne ». Comme beaucoup de chansons de Jordan, elle a aussi un élément comique. La chanson commence avec des percussions de style latin et Jordan crie « Hey Pedro ! ... Où est Lolito? » Après une intro solo de piano de douze mesures, la voix de Jordan commence:
Jordan et son groupe ont plus tard interprété la chanson dans le film Look Out Sister de 1949. Il a servi d’inspiration à James Brown et Chuck Berry. Divers artistes ont enregistré des interprétations de « Early in the Mornin' », souvent orthographié « Early in the Morning » (à ne pas confondre avec la chanson précédente de Sonny Boy Williamson I « Early in the Morning »)
