Bassist Patrick Austin (1965-2013) was instrumental in bringing together Universal Beat Union as a band. His passion for the bass guitar and love of psychedelic music was well known among his friends, collegues, and fellow musicians. His larger-than-life personality and non-stop creative drive permeated everything he did musically. This song "Sloegrind" was recorded in one take during a jam session only a few months after the band got together, possibly even before we had settled on a name. We had just added a 1200 Watt subwoofer to our practice room. Here's what happened...
