Kat Nzingha - 'Vorphic Skin'

Based in Philadelphia, Kat Nzingha is a multidisciplinary artist that explores experimenting with abstruse textures. By combining their sculptural works with heavy low-end frequencies and celebratory tones they create blissfully cryptic sonic materials that are the extended bodies of modified objects that they fabricate. Revealing the spirit within their sculptural entities in the sonic form of convulsing kicks, metallic percussion, and hyper-processed textures.

After releasing the EP Angeltribe on TT Label in 2020, Kat Nzingha releases their first vinyl 7” record with Toothgrinder Press with only 20 copies for purchase.

Vorphic Skin resonates from the idea of metamorphosis as transformation, and mutation as a modification. They activate the deconstruction of the internal human body and its process through industrial sonic textures.

The final katharsis release of 2024 is the 26-track compilation “Physical Force” featuring a wide range of affiliated artists from both the international and local Copenhagen electronic music scene. As the title hints, Physical Force delves into the visceral, bodily aspects of music, inviting its contributors to explore the theme of movement as a central element in their compositions. Each artist was encouraged to focus on rhythm, groove, energy, and the physicality of sound, which resulted in drum-heavy release from start to finish. While there is a consistent emphasis on rhythm and a bodily connection to the music, the tracks vary widely in style and sonic texture, ranging from big melodic anthems, gritty experimental techno, heavy jungle bangers, and beyond.

CÁRPATOS is a strange but cute creature that inhabits the dark forests of the World Wide Web. They have a slender body with a very long, very bushy tail and large eyes. Their feet, which include an often poorly developed thumb, have soft pads on the undersides and versatile, sturdy claws for grasping and climbing. They eat small memes throughout the day and compliment their diet with quirky Soundcloud tunes. As a very hyperactive being CÁRPATOS, needs to be constantly producing some kind of visual joke or experimental composition. They have several critiques of modern society which are constantly being oppressed by political correctness, moral literalism and liberal orthodoxy, this has led them to the artistic practices of crypticism, post-irony and new sincerity, in order to not commit suicide.
Lindred creates twisted holy hymns, hyper-emotional music with glistening melodies and underworld angel vocals. Channeling sonic spellwork, their music pulls you in with tender devotion and a fall from grace marked by razor sharp synths and watery escapes of blissful noise…

jjjacob is a Copenhagen-based artist who has set out to explore the implications of electronic music on a personal and societal level. The hyperdigital infrastructure of the internet has sent him on a quest to spread his musical vision as far as possible from home, which has given him opportunities to release music with various foreign labels and to get booked with his liveact in other European towns such as London, Milan & Tallinn playing with alongside artists as Swan Meat, Spinnee, Hyph11e and Blank Banshee.

This mix (jjjacob's) is like floating down the river of your dreams, catching glimpses of different scenarios and tasting the various feelings they posses - sometimes these pictures melt together and turn into new sensations, and sometimes they work as flipsides to each other. this collection is a good combination of newly discovered tracks and fresh/unreleased tracks from friends.
