This is Sans' theme. Sans is a recurring character throughout the Frosty Forest, and less frequently later parts of the game. Sans is less directly involved with your progression than Toriel is in Undertale, but at the same time he doesn't disappear for the second half of the area, so... 

Also, the reason Megalovania is in this song is cuz I made it before I actually decided what Megalovania was gonna be in the OST, and when I reworked it for the current motif swap scheme, I kept the Megalovania sections since they sounded nice.

I always found the Altertale set of swaps to be interesting, and am disappointed at how poorly they're executed in the original AU.

This is the replacement for "Power of 'NEO'", and specifically for the unfinished extended version. The original 30 second version is probably still the actual version for in-game (which is still an instakill bossfight), as I want to make something something joke about overpowered anime protagonists (i.e. Altertale Undyne) being cringe.

I always found the Altertale set of swaps to be interesting, and am disappointed at how poorly they're executed in the original AU.

UPDATED to include the motif from the new Power of NEO! Technically isn't reflected in the Undyne song, but eh, I can argue that Indeterminate's middle section is technically a version of Megalovania's middle section even though they sound nothing alike :P

Surprise, the genocide route encounter isn't against Toriel this time! It's Asgore! I originally had a completely different song for this, based on Megalo Strike Back using Determination/RudeBuster motifs (hence the upcoming Determination replacement using MSB), under the logic of Disbelief using MSB as a Papyrus theme, but changed my mind on when Megalovania would need to appear in the story.

Altertale - DYNAMIC CHARACTER

This is the replacement for "Amalgam".

I don't exactly know WHAT Napstablook did to the monsters here, but I know that involves the SOULs moreso than the actual bodies. Anyway:

Napstablook is now the royal scientist! A lot of undead characters in the royal court, it seems - Mettaton, Napstablook, Papyrus... Napstablook is still a ghost, though. Like in canon, I don't think they'd care much about gaining a physical body.
Napstablook's experiments allowed the fragments of Gaster to re-enter the world, so I'd imagine they'd have to do with manipulating SOULs in some capacity. Thus, these monsters' SOULs broke down to an extent rather than their bodies, and as such their fights are in groups and helping to reconnect them to their original identities. Roughly similar mechanic to Lost Souls, I guess, though referencing encounterables seen earlier in the game rather than main characters.

Altertale - Athazagoraphobia

This plays when talking to the Malformation prior to the proper fight, where MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE plays instead. 

So, I've finally figured out the deal with the fragments and the SOULs and whatnot:

a) The fragments themselves killed the humans, thus they have the SOULs.
b) They don't use the SOULs until the end of the run, when they actually fight you,  because they know that the partially restored form of Gaster would be... not ideal, and so they only use it when they have you right where they want you.
c) This actually overrides your ability to shift between timelines. 

Swaps:
- Redacted and the other Gaster fragments (Memoryhead, Follower #2 fragment, Mysterman) with Flowey.
- Omega Flowey with a being called the "Malformation", composed of the incomplete recombining of the fragments. Similar vibes to Helptale characters, reflecting how Gaster in his proper forms shifts between fanon conceptions of himself. But also kinda like the Gaster form in Wonderful Idea.
- Gaster with Asriel!

This is actually the neutral-pacifist Undyne fight, analogous to Mettaton EX. I've decided to go with the vibe of Undyne as an anime protagonist, to tie her character into the 'famous' role necessitated by Mettaton's place. 
Undyne has no transformation, her epic anime transformation is saved for the Genocide route. This is just normal Undyne.

So this is the soundtest! Well, the statue room, which swaps with the soundtest. His Theme plays here, along with the other themes associated with ASRIEL. Okay, so Asriel's kinda-death-but-not-quite has to do with the whole "determination slipping away from the world" bit he mentions in the second phase of his fight in Undertale. This room appears at a "Happiness" value of 76 in the early Homely Haven area!

Altertale - Justice

Plot twist, Chara is a goner! I decided to swap the thematics of the way Gaster and Asriel interact with timelines, cuz they swap in Altertale. Specifically, yours and the Gaster fragments' saves now work by being sort of between or outside timelines in a way, while Asriel sort of "slipped away from reality" by determination abuse, like he mentions in the canon fight.

And it makes sense that with all of Gaster's... ahem, experiments, and being in Asriel's role, Chara would end up affected by Gaster, and being a goner. 

The SAVE functionality in game still functions the same, but the lore is different. 

Also, Chara inherits Sans' "Heya" rather than Toriel's "Greetings". 

This song has Megalo Strike Back due to an unused idea where Determination would replace the Megalo Strike Back motif in Asgore's Genocide battle theme, and then I changed Asgore's genocide battle theme so that no longer makes any sense. It's not Megalo Strike Back as Chara's theme, though I guess it can retroactively be interpreted as such.

And tbh, I feel like if MSB is used for anything in Deltarune, it would be the shenanigan involving Kris and the goner vessel, which is in a rather similar vein to this take on Chara, so it checks out anyway.

Altertale - Freedom

The sequence where you learn the story of Gaster plays out completely differently to the corresponding story of Asriel in the original Undertale. Instead of encounters, it's basically a moderately interactive cutscene with NPCs (being the Gaster followers) talking to you about it. 

Gaster was actually the original KING of the Underground. This is to make the ages of Gaster and the skelebros line up, while also referencing an older draft of Altertale I had where the Dreemurrs and the skelebros were swapped differently. Anyway, Chara falls into the underground, gets taken in by Gaster (I'm going to say Sans and Papyrus were around at this point, even if that requires heavily compressing the timeline, the timespan is about 50 years in Undersided anyway so monsters that were kids in 201X could very well still be around 50 years later, and it's not like skeletons show any visible signs of aging). Eventually, Chara and Gaster started working together on a plan to free the monsters using time displacements and the power of Chara's SOUL to bypass the barrier entirely,  thus allowing passage for the rest of monsterkind. The experiment failed, trapping Chara outside reality and shattering Gaster across time and space, the fragments only to reunite with enough soul power that they could then break the barrier altogether. With the young Sans and Papyrus left on their own, Papyrus took up the job of ruling the Underground (filling it with puzzles, no less), while Sans left to the Snowy Sanctuary in the depths of the cave and settled down there.
Chara would reach out to connect with each new human to fall into the Underground, but would fail until Frisk fell into the Frosty Forest, and only then would they establish a connection. It is because of Chara, ultimately, that you are able to SAVE. (The SAVE mechanic allows multiple save slots, as a result of being able to shift between timelines.) 

Anyway, welcome to the Frozen Fortress! This area has a much more elemental ice theme compared to the snowy village found much earlier on. Think Elsa's castle from Frozen. It was originally Gaster's castle.

    Gaster swaps with Asriel. 
    Chara remains unswapped, though their story ends up significantly different.

And no, Toriel and Sans are still just friends. Toriel and Asgore are romantic partners.

As such, Toriel is the final boss of the Homely Haven, while Asgore is fought much later on the Genocide route. This is done for a couple reasons:

    I feel like Asgore would angst more over losing Toriel

    Asgore bossfights are epic

    GENOCIDE Asgore bossfights are epic, and I can take inspiration from the numerous examples that exist on the internet

    Toriel's rather distanced character seems more likely to result in a boss fight as you exit Hometown

    Such a bossfight with Toriel is ITSELF most likely to lead into something resembling the Sans hangout sequence

    You get to have a cup of tea with Asgore!

    The song "ASGORE" from Undertale fits so well onto STMPWYFS' arrangement that I can't pass up the opportunity

Altertale - Song That Would Play If You Fought Asgore

This is an original song for Papyrus in JW!Altertale, as Papyrus appears a lot more throughout the Underground. He's still on good terms with Sans, and in fact the Frosty Forest section has quite a few of their antics.

Papyrus is the king of the Underground, living in the icy "Frozen Fortress", since Gaster's disappearance. He... does his best to lead.

Additionally, this song is a modified version of "Bonetrousle [ERECT Remix]", a song I originally made for the Hard Mode Papyrus battle for EUC.

This replaces "Can You Really Call This A Hotel ...". For some reason the original song uses the motif from SAVE The World, so here An Enigmatic Encounter plays instead. But more specifically, the Worst Beauty variation, as of course the Snowdin theme also plays.

This plays during the first chase sequence with Undyne. Undyne's chases will probably utilize a variety of mechanics rather than just being two spear mazes to navigate through.
