dreams ep. 26 - too far

Lately it's like I don't really know myself anymore. 
Have you ever felt that way? - I bet you have. It's only human. 
And do you know what to do in such situations?
...
Yeaah... me neither. The best I can think of is kinda obvious, really. If you don't know who you are, look for yourself. Told ya, it's no rocket science. Such a simple strategy holds it's risks, though. You could be right there in front of your face all along. You could end up being someone you don't really like. Or you could end up too too far away from what you originally thought you were. Is this good or bad? Who's to say. You are what you are sounds simple but simple doesn't mean finding out who this is is an easy task. I guess that even if you're too far, you'd know deep down inside of you that something's not as it should be. And knowing something is better than knowing nothing right?

Speaking about that kinda remind's me of a very old game I like to think I've invented (of course I haven't but the thought's kinda pleasing). The game is simple and it's called coin. Whenever you are in doubt about what to do next, whether to do something or not or pretty much any dilemma that has two routes, just toss a coin. That's where you might be thinking "and just do what the coin says, right? Easy peasy" - Eeeem, not exactly. You see, here's where the magic kicks in. Deep deep inside of you you've known what you want all along. If the God's are in your favour and the coin falls the way you wanted all along, there's this tiny tiny voice inside of you that'd be screaming of joy inside of you. Muffled, of course, but you'd feel it. You'd feel relieved, happy, kinda anxious but in a good way. On the contrary, if the coins falls against your will, the same quiet voice would be cursing the day you decided to play that stupid game in the first place. Aaand again, you might not hear it but you'd feel it in your gut. That's that magical moment when you know what you want.

Are the last couple of episodes too far from the me I thought I am? The me you think i am? I am definitely far away from my usual sound but I still don't feel that it's too far. I don't hear the little muffled guy yet. And in the end I should definitely feel like going home at some point, shouldn't I? Let's find out.

John Evexc was born in Germany in 1981. Towards his late childhood he was an enthusiastic listener of electronic music. His passion for playing electronic music began in 2001. In 2015 he founded his project Sonne, Strand und Meer to give more attention to the music he loves and lives. This channel has provided a platform for numerous up and coming artists to showcase their talent.

Snyze was born in Germany. As an enthusiastic listener of electronic music, she was drawn to the dance floors of clubs and festivals, and she quickly developed a passion for playing music herself. From House to Deep House up to melodic Techno, she creates varied and fluent sets which invite you to dance. In 2019 she joined the podcast channel Sonne, Strand und Meer. 

Now, Evexc and Snyze work together on their project and on the decks.

We at Institution have been following both Evexc and Snyze, and listen regularly to their stellar underground Sonne Strand und Meer podcast. As you are about to find out, this duo is super talented; we love this mix!

Institution 036: Evexc & Snyze

1994 - die Zeit, in der man einen Club nur mit Trillerpfeife und Schweißerbrille betreten wollte, lagen lange hinter uns. ;) Es waren nun schon 3 Jahre vergangen, seitdem wir von diesem „Techno-Virus“ infiziert wurden. 3 Jahre, in denen all unser Geld (das war nicht gerade viel als Azubi bzw. Student) in Platten bzw. die Anschaffung zweier Technics floss. Neben dem gleichen Musikgeschmack verband uns, dass wir uns regelmäßig im Musikladen beim Platten-Durchwühlen im Weg standen (weil der andere grad mal wieder das letzte Exemplar der neuen Djax-Up ergattert hatte). Naja, im Elastic, der Distillery oder in der Duschkabine hat man sich auch öfters gesehen. Einig waren wir uns jedenfalls darin, dass die Leipziger Club- und Partylandschaft mehr bieten sollte. Zur Gründung von "Unknown Species" hat dann nicht mehr viel gefehlt. Der Reiz und vor allem die Lust, einfach mal was Eigenes auf die Beine zu stellen war einfach da!
Fortan beschäftigten wir uns also damit, geeignete Locations zu finden. Unter den damals noch oft ungeklärten Eigentumsverhältnissen, war das vergleichsweise einfach. Zur Organisation von Bar, Deko, Anlage u.s.w. standen uns jederzeit zahlreiche Helfer zur Seite. Unser Logo sollte ein Embryo sein, gepaart mit dem Namen Unknown Species irgendwie cool!
Am 16.05.1995 war es dann so weit. Wir luden zu unserem ersten Ding in ein altes Fabrikgebäude in Leipzig Eutritzsch. Insgesamt 9 eigene Parties und einige Beteiligungen an anderen Projekten und Partys sind’s dann über einen Zeitraum von 8 Jahren doch geworden.
Mittlerweile sind wir alle „Mittvierziger“ und im allgemeinen Lebensstress versunken, haben aber noch regelmäßigen Kontakt zueinander. Eines ist aber geblieben: Die Liebe zur Elektronischen Musik ist immer noch präsent und verbindet uns!

U.a. drehten wir im Elastic, in der Duschkabine, zur Kocmoc, auf den Subsonic-Parties, auf der Final Filter, im Club AchterMai und im Voxx in Chemnitz, in der Distillery, im Conne Island, Kosmophon, Zoro, Velvet, Placebo, Jam - The Freaky Gallery Club Chemnitz, im ShootClub und im Dezernat Ost in Delitzsch, im Blauen Pudel, im Cult Neukirchen, zur Vision East, im Winterpalais bei Plauen, im Le Bit, in der Opera, im Sector Gießerstrasse, im 1040, zur Stunde Null auf Radio Energy und beim Housequake auf Radio Blau, im nonTox.
