BURR OAK mark a monolithic moment in their sonic journey with the release of their debut album, SOMEWHERE WE BELONG, which stands as the crown jewel of the two member’s careers as solo artists and as a duo alike. Packed with a mammoth 18 tracks that span the full breadth of the Neurofunk genre, SOMEWHERE WE BELONG sees BURR OAK deliver a definitive work set to cement itself well within the history of the genre.

BURR OAK’s own story is mirrored in the stories of their twin cowboy personas, Scruggs and Sonny Jim, whose escapades are expressed throughout the album’s tracklist and the tales that accompany it. Much like these two inseparable wanderers, BURR OAK’s two members, Niko and Julien, began their careers as solo artists before joining together to embark on their shared quest as BURR OAK. Longtime fans of Neurofunk will recognize each by their many other monikers. Niko has produced and performed variously as a member of the French Drum & Bass trio Signs, as half of the duo Cecil Hotel, and under his solo alias Opsen throughout his long career devoted to the pursuit of Drum & Bass’ most technical edge. By contrast, Julien’s journey under his solo alias The Clamps has seen him champion both cinematic soundscapes and the genre’s most extreme fringes, merging beauty and brutality within his music in equal measure. 
If this wasn’t a colorful palette of a career enough, they are also running another project with the also Toulouse based SKS – “Forum” which is also a heavyweight drum and bass project with a jungle/rave/oldschool twist. And to add a cherry on the top Julien runs Third Colony with Yan, an extravagant IDM/downtempo project.

As BURR OAK, these two prolific artists intertwine their sounds in an inexorable musical lattice, presenting a unified sonic profile that is more than the sum of its parts. This stylistic synergy thrives amidst SOMEWHERE WE BELONG, which details the story of BURR OAK both in fiction and as the producers they are today. The album’s title speaks to this, not only for the duo’s cowboy characters but for Niko & Julien as well. Beneath the branches of the BURR OAK, these titans of Neurofunk have truly found somewhere they belong.

Agressor Bunx delivers a high-octane rework of Mean Teeth’s “Nine Lives” on the Bring Back the Funk Remixed Part 4 album, and it’s a thrilling ride from start to finish. Known for their fierce, bass-heavy style, Agressor Bunx transforms the track with their signature dark neurofunk flair while injecting a new level of groove and energy.

Overall, Agressor Bunx’s remix of "Nine Lives" is a standout on the album, pushing the boundaries of neurofunk while keeping the groove alive. Trendkill are undeniably on a roll, having rocketed into 2019 with some of their most resounding tracks to date. They’re maintaining this trend with a brand new, double-sided single from Opsen. Led by Prolix, Trendkill has showed their ability to pull through a wide selection of heavyweight production standards from a drum & bass world which is currently at its largest ever population. However, Trendkill are still delivering an array of artists who are just beginning to establish themselves against the scene’s founding producers. But Opsen has already been a recognisable force throughout the wider trenches and his forthcoming single shows this. As one part of the French collaborative Signs project, Opsen demonstrated his creative might, something which the following tracks ‘Redwood Falls’ and ‘Lumberjack’ continues as a solo venture.

Opsen’s ‘Redwood Falls’ is your first insight into what you can expect from this new endeavour and it’s an intimidating one. Brick by sonic brick the track begins to build and before long you’re introduced to a titanic wall of sound, one which breaks suddenly, throwing you down its chaotic first drop. Soon comes the record’s well-honed grooves and it’s the type which sit neatly beneath a punchy composition. Each drum roll claps into the next, with the track developing powerfully as you’re taken through every sixteen bars of noise. Opsen is relentless, something which will is immediately clear on first listen. 

The flipside is ‘Lumberjack’, which draws The Clamps into Opsen’s levels. This is a return to Trendkill for The Clamps and it’s one which will see fans excited by its announcement. Both artists demonstrate the same standards of engineering and the track is a merging of two formidable creators. ‘Lumberjack’ pushes the same crushing drive, with shaking subs and moodily distorted LFOs manufacturing its driving motion. Opsen and The Clamps work hand in hand to deliver this next slab of carnage and it’s just one of many releases to come from Trendkill this year. Under the guise of Prolix, the imprint has risen in strength, something which is evident through its stream of releases throughout 2019 and its meteoric rise.

Since Renegade Hardware first picked up an Unknown Error tune back in 2004, there's been no stopping the born and raised Kent artist. 

Unknown Error burst onto the scene with the debut release of "Shadows" on Renegade Hardware in January 2005 which featured on Hardware's first release of 2005, The Chronicles vol.4 EP. This release went straight in at no.8 in the BBC 1Xtra DnB Charts and was featured on the Guerrilla Warfare CD mixed by Grooverider. Tracks on Trouble On Vinyl, Cymbalism and one of Moving Shadow's strongest Eps - The Heaven & Hell EP -  followed to take Unknown Error far beyond being newcomers. 

The remix of the Kryptic Minds and Leon Switch's "More Like You" has been tearing up dance floors thought out world with heavy rotation from the likes of  Andy C, Calyx, Teebee Diesel Boy, Noisia, Dylan, and Pendulum amongst many more, helping push it into the BBC 1xtra top 10 chart. 

Unknown Error took the title track and the a-side of the sampler for Renegade Hardware's Album "Fear No Evil". Amongst this huge release is also a remix of the Universal Project Track "Bleach" . 
Showing the more diverse side to Unknown Error's talent, along came the ever popular oriental vibes of "The Yearning" on Horizons Recordings.  
Now that the Unknown Error duo have split and gone their own ways, one half of the production force aka the mastermind behind the decks has taken full duties to continue with the Unknown Error sound as a solo artist. Jim's first solo track as Unknown Error, entitled "Alone" has gained much hype and critical acclaim which featured as the A side on the "DreamThief LP" on Horizons Recordings, followed by the true stomper "The Curse" clearly shows Unknown Error is still a force to be reckoned with.

2010 brings the new beats accompanied by Unknown Error Digital... watch this space
