Superwave EP: 
Following up on the drops from Gyrofield and Tim Reaper, Low End Activist arrives on Best Intentions with four mutant workouts up-cycled from dormant projects and moulded into weighty, outer limits club gear.
 
Low End Activist is best known for his sizeable output across Sneaker Social Club, Peak Oil and his own LEA label, where he twists grime and dubstep structures to gnarly, tweaked soundscapes indebted to dystopian sci-fi and social realism. Stepping up to Kasra's Best Intentions label, he tries a different approach by combing back through his archives of samples and stems and piecing together tracks with a sharp, surgical intent. 
 
In a canny display of stop-start dynamics, the A side comes through resolutely moody between the minimal, eerie atmospherics of ‘Wave ’01 and the dislocated vocal trickery and half-step pressure of ‘Wave 02’. On ‘Wave ’03 you can hear the click and crunch of early days Perlon and the rudeboy swing of El B, while the drums on ‘Wave ’04 lock into the mechanical rotation of Gescom as a counterpoint to the enduring hardcore influence coursing underneath the surface of the track.

The Digital Delay Dub of What’s Gwarnin? Is out today. It’s a fresh take on the original with different drums, bass and a King Tubby inspired approach to dubbing the vocals using a Boss DD3 digital delay pedal, a Strymon Cloudverb and a Mackie 1604 to do live FX throws. So much fun. 

I decided on a vocal / dub package for this release as I’m a massive fan of this UK Garage 12” format. Loads of amazing 12s from MJ Cole and Ramsey & Fen had the big vocal on A side and then the murkier, rawer club dub on the flip. So much more than just an instrumental. In the words of MJ Cole “you had the vocal one in the bag and you’ve finished that and then the dub was just playtime, do whatever you want. You’ve got one in the bag, just do something rough and quick and ready”

BIO:
Unlike Sessions radio show a été créé en 1999 par Hughes sur la célèbre radio de musiques électroniques du Nord de la France: Galaxie (95.3 FM). Cette émission se veut différente de toute l’Euro Dance diffusée sur la station et se focalise à l’époque sur la Jungle et la Drum & Bass. Hughes trouve alors un support auprès du magasin Stamina Records de Lille et s'ouvre par la même occasion au UK Garage (2step, Bassline, Grime) et aux prémisses du Dubstep. Depuis 2003, Hughes partage ces nouveaux sons venus d’outre Manche avec ses auditeurs. Unlike Sessions avance au même rythme que son DJ et le UK Garage prend une place de plus en plus importante au sein de l’émission. L'année 2006 marque l’arrivée de Dreadless, suivi de Sch’pr & Maxxxslyyy, tous atteints du virus Dubstep. En 2007, Galaxie est désormais diffusée sur le net et Unlike Sessions en profite pour toucher un plus grand nombre d’auditeurs à travers le monde. Cette année marque aussi les premières soirées «It’s all about Dubstep» organisées à Lille et animées par le crew, elles connaissent un véritable succès! En parallèle, Unlike Sessions ne cesse de s'enrichir grâce à de nombreux invités, comme notamment les DJ anglais Ramadanman et Headhunter, mais aussi des DJs locaux et s’agrandit encore avec Jaka et P.Boy qui intègrent la team en 2009. En octobre 2010 Unlike Sessions rejoint l'équipe de RCV 99 FM et est désormais diffusée tous les vendredis !
Aujourd’hui, Unlike Sessions est l’une des émissions Bass Music incontournables en France.
