Hailing from Brusque, Brazil, Ricardo Hingst (known artistically as HNGT) is quickly becoming one of the country’s most exciting prospects. Raising his profile as a DJ and producer with performances at D EDGE, Elfortin, Terraza and Surreal, and releases on the likes of Createch and now Victor Ruiz’s VOLTA imprint, HNGT is well on his way to being one of Brazil’s leading electronic names.

HNGT’s debut on VOLTA is an impressive three-tracker showcasing a depth in musicality with a firm grasp on modern techno flavours. Beginning with the title track, ‘Rebel’ dives straight into hard-hitting rhythms and rippling resonance. Firm drums and driving hat grooves pave the way for an onslaught of ethereal- laced melodies embraced by a soulful female vocal hook, blending in and out of atmospheric breakdowns to carve out a stunning opening track.

‘Artificial Awareness’ comes next, bringing racy ominous vibes from the outset. Another impressive display of synth-led techno is on display here, building around gritty electronic textures, glitchy fills and a robotic vox to deliver a darkened peak-time stomper.

‘Future World’ closes the release with a moody interplanetary persona, highlighting more of HNGT’s boundless creativity and writing skills. A constant ebb and flow of climatic builds and potent drops with progressively expansive soundscapes and futuristic nuances throughout to round off a profound debut.

Carbon is back on including remixer Lampé with two new dancefloor heaters!

'Tool of the Day' has a nice chugging bass groove and fills the space with lots of high synths and clean bass stabs.

'Nomansland' is a dark minimal roller that builds and grooves along with tight techno stabs and evil vocal samples.

Lampé is on remix duties for 'Tool of the Day' and brings a low-driving bassline with growling overtones and melodic arps build ups.

Draped in sullen shadow, the city before you stands in a silent vigil for its own ruin. The grandiose spires that once composed its monumental skyline are tattered and torn, their sleek forms now cutting jagged silhouettes into the last rays of the setting sun. Points of gentle orange light flicker within their eroded skeletons, emanating from the fires and lanterns of those who still call this dilapidated metropolis their home. 

What once was a place of glamour now lies forgotten in ruin, and yet here it is that the VISION SERPENT’s portal has led you to. What secrets might lie forgotten in the shadow, what knowledge might those who dwell within still hold, and what wealth is to be found still glittering in the flickering flames? “Delve deep”, commands the serpent’s telepathic voice in your brain, “and find what was lost upon the IMPACT”.

MONOCOC makes his debut on VISION SERPENT with IMPACT, a single that delivers all of the sonic energy so promised by its name. The kick drums of the single’s titular A-side burst into being amidst a cavernous sonic atmosphere, whilst its B-side “Energy” is set to similarly galvanize the dancefloor with its staccato synth stabs and cascading delay lines. Together, MONOCOC presents this twin pairing as a masterful medley of scintillant techno, which finds a perfect home with VISE008.
