Bogged down in a pile of archival documents and adstracts from alchemical synopses, Spacelunch fell asleep unnoticed. Concentrated reading dragged him into the world of dreams which, as usual, was at his favorite desk. However, someone didn't want to stop there.

Naively inspired by the legend of homunculi, Cat decided to personally assess the activity of neurotransmitters in the ionized gas environment. The old experiments of their parasientific cooperation on the influence of information fields on the cerebral hemispheres were considered incomplete. Isn't this a reason for new experiments on the mental platform? As soon as the trial sample was subjected to intense exposure of the plasmaballs, tightly clamped in restless paws, there was a resounding click.

By chance, the professor's dream turned out to be less sensitive than it might seem at first glance. Jumping up after a piercing "meow", he felt the sharp smell of electrified wool: "Hey, buddy, are you okay?! Please be careful with the Tesla radiation!"

This album is Inspired by the Nooscope Manifest by Pasquinelli and Joler, and its view of AI as an instrument of knowledge extractivism while using an analogy with optical media. In Comfort of the Darkness, jjsauma presents a collection of tracks where he lets AI create its own interpretation of music by building dub versions of the tracks created for this project. In this case, a test of the Nooscope Manifest was applied as a filter for a multitrack recording. These tracks were conceived as glitch/techno/ambient and were given a dub treatment by an amorphous entity with human-like characteristics programmed by jjsauma using Max/MSP. Human behaviour, bias, inconsistency and failure are part of the new aesthetic created by using AI in arts and industry, showcasing uncertainty as a precondition of dialectics, as opposed to the certitude of traditional computational processes.

While AI raises a lot of questions, it produces its own vision of the world, and this album is a representation of AI’s intellect along with the human fingerprint of the original creator of these pieces. Dub production techniques allow a producer to re-envision and re-interpret music in a personal way. This album is human music re-interpreted by AI’s aesthetic properties of dub.

This album is the result of the research made by Joaquín Jiménez-Sauma presented at the Joint Conference on AI Music Creativity (KTH Royal Institute of Technology) and Conference on Computation, Communication, Aesthetics & X (University of Porto).

jjsauma - When The Ocean Sleeps [Secuencias Temporales]

Alex aka Le Code is a French producer of electronic music. He first evolved in deep and dub techno and founded in 2016 the label Apnea specialized in these styles.
He discovers ambient music and during the confinement of 2020, he launches himself in this style that has now become his second musical home. He founded the label Mare Nostrum with Anne (absurda) and Are Morica, he is half of the ambient duo Belle Brume and hosts a podcast dedicated to this so particular music: Ambient Travelers.
Le Code's music is a sonic exploration, a mix between smooth ambiences and carefully composed textures, all accompanied by subtle and worked melodies.
