We are honored to have dOP joining Bar 25 Music on our journey. The legendary duo went from their roots in the Parisian Hip-Hop scene to the world of unconventional House and Techno of Berlin. They have releases on the most prestigious electronic music labels from Eklo to Supplement Facts, from Watergate to Circus Company where their debut album “Greatest Hits” surfaced in 2010. Now Bar 25 Music is happy to replenish its catalogue with the record by the prolific duo.

The EP contains two original tracks ¨Resist¨ and ¨Vape¨ and two remixes. The title track was reworked by another duet of legends —  DADADISCO. They have a lot of sweet memories connected to Berlin’s Bar25 where they played pretty much memorable marathon sets. Their Dirty Disco House parties helped to make that place even more unique. When the legendary place closed for good, they decided to spread their retro-futuristic sound under the alias Dada Disco, which sums up the chaos and extravagance of those years.

Dave DK made the remix for the second track. One more huge name for anyone familiar with Berlin’s club culture. Since the early 90's he was fascinated by the upcoming techno movement, which eventually led to his own active initiation. After producing his first track in 1995, Dave released on labels like Kompakt, Pampa, Müller Records, Decore, Lifetime Music, Cadeaux, Moodmusic and many others.

Last but not least, it is important to mention the artwork by Nicolas André, Neopen a combination of art and top-notch technologies. "Using Generative Adversarial Network, I used AI to tell short stories about real and AI-generated peoples as seen in a metaverse. Between visual poetry and cognitive narratology, each of those explorations is unique".

The illusive @imperieux ventures into the fantastical world of DJ Koze’s Pampa with three tracks of masterful, genre-bending electronica. 
 
It’s little wonder that the Turkish/Bulgarian native finds himself coming into the orbit of the Hamburg-based label head. DJ Koze has been a long-time supporter of Impérieux’s music, his intrepid DJ sets often finding their most dramatic peaks or existential lows with one of the producer's audacious dancefloor soundscapes.
 
Now Berlin-based, Impérieux’s music draws deeply on the sounds of his heritage, taking inspirations from Bulgarian folklore, twisted and chopped Turkish dialect as well the gritty underground of his new surroundings. 
  
With Fantasmagorii, Impérieux explores his sonic boundaries with techniques inspired by the label-head himself. As a producer he is becoming known for his ability to build fantasy worlds through aural experimentation, creating productions soaked with fragility and emotion. His music brings a full-body listening experience of it’s own, laden with intensity and mystery, and full of opposites. He has the ability to pluck their listeners out of reality, to bend the rules of time and space and defy genres in a way that is reminiscent of Koze’s various bodies of work, and it’s no surprise that this selection of tracks feels right at home in the Pampa fantasy.

Opening festivities with a remix of Stimming's 2016-released cinematic slope-climber "Alpe Lusia", Wruhme entices us on the path of electro-powered elation through a Janus-faced roller of a kind. Ruffled beds of electronic convulsion merging as one with the haunting esthers of a euphoric night out, the sanctuarial harbour of a lover's arms, dying sunrays drizzling their spectral light over the skyline's unsympathetic curve; all of this finds itself amorously entwined within this impressionistic tableau in sound that knows the way to your heart, by heart.

Fresh off their April 2022-released debut single on Unreel, German duo Konrad Ritter & NEPH are back at it with "High Hopes", a three-track hike across solar house territories beautifully complemented by a choice remix from Kompakt stalwart Robag Wruhme. True to the pair's ever vivid and colourful approach, a lush palette of summery flavours and organic suavity exudes from this fresher-than-fresh second effort.

The blissed-out, disco-hued opener "Trip City" treats us to a smorgasbord of layered pad swashes, framing our minds in a warm cocoon of sound that spins in and out of focus to the jacking rhythm of early Chicago house drums. Folding out sequences of melodic sublimation and honey-like textural unctuosity thru and thru, a different shade of feelgood-ism innervates "You Are Doing Well", where Ritter and NEPH blend in elements of polyrhythmic Caribbean music with heavily processed vocals and a left-of-centre sense of deep-house escapology.

Rounding off the package on a luminous, typically empowering note, German maestro Robag Wruhme repurposes "You Are Doing Well" into a proper clear-watered slice of shoegaze-y, dreamy elation - perfect for transitional states both on and off the dance-floor, then slowly but surely (and elegantly) cranking up the tempo up a notch until its bass-powered engines take us off up the highest layers of the dance-o-sphere.

With The Tiger, Matias Aguayo returns to Kompakt with his first EP for the label since 2014’s Legende. Since then, he’s been busy with all manner of experiments and explorations – a monthly radio show on Worldwide FM, 2019’s Support Alien Invasion; the essential El Rudo Del House series; an album on Crammed Discs with his group The Desdemonas; collaborations with Sano and Gladkazuka (as Rionegro), DJ Spoko, Mujaji, Julianna, a new trio with DJs Pareja, named MDM Factory, and the latest offering on his Cómeme imprint, El Cameron featuring Ricardo Villalobos. But something special happens when Aguayo returns to the mothership, as though he’s reconnecting with something essential: “pop melancholy is just right there,” he says.

On The Tiger, Aguayo is in touch with the core of the flame, the music that’s at the centre of his being. While most of the music may have originated “in the foggy Mexican forest,” he’s sure that the EP is “still a Cologne record,” something you can hear as soon as the prowling bass, shuffling rhythms and ghostly voices of the title track lope stealthily into earshot. The titular character is caught up in the sensuous tangle of the night, that space between dusk’s delirium and dawn’s dreaming. Aguayo sings, “Do you see the same I see? Are we having the same dream?” – here, he’s picturing an after-hours revelation, “on a warm muggy night with all sorts of background noise from various nightwalking animals – but at the same time, I was a city dweller stranded in the jungle, who still dressed like he was about to go to the disco.”

The ascending, ever-circling bass of “Nightshift, The Red” tells another story, a spiralling mantra that’s hypnotically psychedelic, yet elegant, refined, filled with sonic textures you can almost reach out and touch, like knotted twists of exotic fabric. “The lyrics are very associative and somewhere between urban and jungle nightlife,” Aguayo mentions, “fireflies shine, but also the reflections of the disco ball.” “Show Me What You’re Feeling” takes us back to the 1990s, with Aguayo re-working some vocal and lyrical fragments from three decades ago, its beautiful uncertainty remarkable in what Aguayo calls its “extremely emotional openness”. Dappled with melancholy, it’s a lover’s hymn to intimacy and vulnerability.

Aguayo signs off The Tiger with “El Propio Propio”, a celebratory ending to an EP that’s rich and complex, full of lovely musical moments – the tender melodies woven through “Show Me What You’re Feeling”; the warping, pliable, plastic textures that Aguayo crumples and crinkles through “El Propio Propio”. Like much of Aguayo’s music, The Tiger highlights the senses, to advance a new sensibility, one that inhabits a fever-dream of hints and clues, a mystery that’s solved by the deep, dark sensuality of the rhythms here, fully in love with the nightlife. It finds its exoticism in unexpected moments, sideways glances, surprising twists and turns. After all, as Aguayo says, “moths are far more glamorous and mysterious than butterflies.”

Electronic group Pale Blue returns to Damian Lazarus' label Crosstown Rebels. Dive stems from the pair's upcoming album on the imprint, which will drop next year. Remixes from Fort Romeau and Rebolledo feature on the EP, adding another layer to the shoegaze-tinged tune. 

Mike Simonetti talks about the theme of the track. "'Dive' is a breakup song. It's about when the person you are living with becomes a stranger," he says. "Musically, 'Dive' is an experiment in polyrhythms and textures; the music has a lot of movement, yet Elizabeth's vocals are stoic throughout. The music represents the chaos of the relationship, and her voice is the calm realization of self." The title track opens with Elizabeth's soft vocals and a dreamy synthline, evoking a hazy but potent soundscape. On Fort Romeau's remix, the Oxfordshire native offers a Tranceadelic Mix of the track, combining tribal-flecked percussion with an understated bassline, allowing Elizabeth's lyrics to dominate the atmosphere. Rebolledo pens an acid melody and transposes Elizabeth's vocals to an alien-like pitch—perfect for a tripped-out listen. 

Jersey-born Mike Simonetti is one half of the musical group Pale Blue and the founder of labels Troubleman, Italians Do It Better and 2MR. With over two decades of experience working as a producer and DJ, Mike has released disparate sounds on Crosstown Rebels, Correspondent and several more, building the reputation of a versatile artist who avoids the limelight and instead focuses on making dance music with depth. In 2020, Pale Blue’s track I Walk Alone With Acid landed in Pitchfork’s The 30 Best Electronic Music Releases of 2020 and The 100 Best Songs of 2020. US-born Elizabeth Wight is a vocalist and the other half of Pale Blue. No matter the project she's working on, her vocals add different layers to electronic music, creating a signature mood that only she knows how. I Walk Alone With Acid remains one of the most striking records in her evolving discography. UK-born Fort Romeau merges the tones of house, kraut, ambient, disco, and techno across his work, releasing on Permanent Vacation, Mesh and more. His album Beings of Light dropped on Ghostly International earlier this year, affirming his status as an innovative artist. Mexican DJ and producer Rebolledo is one-half of the electronic duo Pachanga Boys, but as a solo artist, his sound bounces between sun-kissed house and strutting disco. Tracks on Correspondent and Hippie Dance highlight his boundless approach as a producer.
