As with AEON 18 Alex Niggemann steps up with another landmark voyage into the realms of me- lodic, deep techno, delivering two tracks with a sound that defines a very popular and relevant style. Divergent is a stirring track with stabbing synths and a breakbeat drum pattern, punctuated by an evocative drop around half way through the track. As is customary on Alex Niggemann AEON releases, the B-Side, Luminance, takes things into deeper territory, with a rolling bassline and a deep percussive groove.

UP Series 001 Podcast - Street Parade Special 13.08.16

20 years ago….
1997 was the year I started dj-ing; I was buying a lot of records and practiced every day, making mixtapes to listen to on my walkman and analyzing these before going to sleep, dedicated to improve myself the next day. 
My record collection is from the period between 1997 and 2008 (after 2008 I started playing with CDJ’s and later with Traktor and Rekordbox) 
So I decided to make a selection from stricktly one compartment in my records cabinet and then make a mix. 
I wilI call these mixes ‘nostalgic’. Every records gives me a nostalgic feeling, a flashback, associations, memories.

This first nostalgic mix contains music from roughly 2004-2007. 
Memories that flashed through my mind while mixing this selection were:

2004 was an important musical year, I went to Sonar together with Esther Duyn, we attended the Mobilee roof party with Anja Schneider and Sebo K was playing there. The next day I played at a Connaisseur Party and had a nice conversation with Patrick Chardronnet at the diner with all the Connaisseur artists. 
I played at Detroit Electronic Music Festival on a Dutch stage together with Joris Voorn, Duplex, Benny Rodrigues, Stefan Robbers, T!m and others. It was such an honor to be part of this selection of artists and see Detroit. I remember going to a small warehouse party where John Beltran played, extra special that he’s done a remix for me this year. (I feel very privileged) I visited the Underground Resistant record store (wow!). And I went to an underground party where Octave One performed, or was it Night of the Jaguar? I forget things 😔
AND I played at Lowlands, a huge popfestival in the Bravo tent which was one of the biggest tents, closing off after (don’t remember, was it Chris Liebing?) and almost shit my pants because I was extremely nervous. The stage manager was so kind to mention that he never met an artist as nervous as me.
My dad joined me that day and we stayed at the artist camping, the next morning we had breakfast with Wannabeastar who had bruces everywhere due to her dj / slash / pole dance act.

I signed my first release on Connaisseur, a label that I had already been following for a few years. After getting the courage to send them my demo they signed ‘Driven’ and even helped me releasing my first album in the years to come.
Of course I remember going to the Amsterdam recordstores where I would meet my fellow dj colleagues and we would gossip and share music.
So much more to tell! But I save that for the next mix.

The Series finally continues with our Podcast 002. 

DUBFLUSS is a project born from the friendship between two guys from Vicenza (near Venice), Mattia Bellon and Marco Fiuma. The project came to life through an exchange of views and ideas shared in the world of club music in various lines of deep, tech and techno. This passion for the genre is grown and widely-depth with the inclusion of the couple into HUND (Underground Music Movement) as resident djs.

Mark Alow is an emergent producer and DJ from Alicante in Spain with a short but intense career. He moves between Minimal and House and his productions have been released in some of the best underground labels like Little Helpers and Innocent Music. 

For this record Mark presents a 3 track EP for Akbal Music filled with cool melodies, groovie rhythms, hypnotic sounds and moving basslines that will work great in the club or at outdoor festival this summer.

London has long been something of a house music Mecca and one of the keys to its shining success is its enviable ability to reinvent itself. New influences come and go. New faces emerge. Fresh talent crosses boundaries and arrives. Slavaki has been polishing his individual take on minimalist sound for a while now. His releases both digital and vinyl found favour with numerous people of distinguished musical taste. His last record got hailed by artists as diverse as Slam, Ekkohouse, Silicone Soul, Brother’s Vibe, Franco Bianco and Chris Carrier to name but a few and found praise on the pages of De:bug, Ibiza-Voice, Klubbers, and radio stations such as Ibiza Global Radio and Freaks Radio Show. Slavaki's new offering is nothing short of spectacular. Walking in the Snow displays artist's most notable trademark features - a rare ability to merry functionality, precision, groove and soulful airiness never shy from revealing the beautiful side of sound. The title track is one of those rare secret weapons able to break the dead calm and start the club waves moving again. Full of crisp rhythms, haunting yet endearing in its awkwardness melody and a solid groove build up, it will do wonders and revive a dance floor no matter what state the crowd is in. The remix support comes from Korablove. His unique production style on labels such as Apparel, Pro-Tez, Night Drive Music , 3rd Wave, and many more had placed him firmly on the forefront of current house music scene. Give his version of Walking in the Snow a listen and you will easily see why. His take on the main theme tackles the key idea of the track and turns it on its head taking the listeners for a trip in a parallel dimension. Dimension of Deep, no less. The signature groove is still here and is instantly recognisable, yet you will note that it’s slightly more down tempo, less obvious approach gives the original delicate melody a new depth and subdued gloss. The flip side is no less magical and even more beguiling. Sparkling rhythms, beautiful melodies, organic percussions, and haunting ethnic chanting are among the surprises that will convince you that both sides of this EP are filled to the brim with quality and inventiveness.

Unsere Podcast-Reihe startet in die Off-Saison und lädt mit „Gottlieb Scheppert“ zum eifrigen Pilzesammeln über den Dächern Neuköllns: Der Berliner Down-Tech-Produzent sorgte zuletzt mit seiner „Zahar EP“ auf dem Label „Metanoia“ für großes Aufhorchen in der Szene und bringt mit seinen verschwurbelt-niedertempoiden Sets reihenweise deren Frontallappen zum scheppern. Mit einer geradezu unverschämten Brett-Dichte fegt er dem Kranich selbst mit angezogener Handbremse die Ziegel vom Kopf und manövriert dabei gekonnt zwischen psychedelischer Electronica, 90er-Nostalgie und absoluter Peaktime-Extase. Wir verbleiben voller Floorfreude auf die Clubsaison und freuen uns vor allem darauf, „Gottlieb Scheppert“ wieder live auf dem Klunkerkranich begrüßen zu dürfen.
