Bordeaux-based @Mawen is a soundcrafter originating from the Techno scene, with deep roots in Drum & Bass and Liquid, and more recently opening to Deep House and Downtempo. He built this light wandering slow track as a lullaby for rave fairies.

RBR, what is it ?
Founded by french artists @da-iguana & @dokomodo, Reptilian Business Records aims to be an independent label of hybrid music, with the goal of promoting the fusion of electronic rhythms, organic textures, sound design and traditional influences, through the vision of local and international artists of all kinds. From tribal house to UK dubstep, from psychedelic cumbia to dark disco, from slow trance to indie dance, everything that purrs and reflects its scales, which squeaks and waves at the same time: reptilian music.

About the VA "GECKO BLASTER"
This VA puts the spotlight on 8 countries, represented by twenty artists from radically different scenes, from the parisian organic underground to the dubstep soundsystem scene of Brooklyn, to the downtempo and schnekno of Berlin and Frankfurt, swiss lo-fi, japanese experimental, or slow house drawn from brazilian forests, not to mention the participation of locals from the french southwest who offer organic jungle, dark electro or tribal slow trance... A musical diversity which has a common denominator love for psychedelia, distortion, depth of bass and sharp rhythms like the claws of an arboreal monitor lizard.

This is a series of 4 cassettes with unreleased music I made in Reason from 2005 to 2009 before I changed to Logic Pro. In 2005 I started naming my projects in numerical order and this is the way these cassettes are arranged. Some of the tracks are very poorly worked and some are more detailed but with the limitations of my skills at that time as well as the limitations of the early versions of Reason.
I decided to release these tracks 'cause Shesho (who made the artwork) told me to.

‘El Río’ is, as any other debut EP, an exploration of musical influences and production/composition techniques. In this case the EP from ‘Ma Wal’ (the musical project of Mateo Walschburger, a music producer, architect and artist from Bogotá, Colombia) explores through five songs the ever-changing idea of what latin american electronic music can be nowadays. By mixing elements from some of the electronic genres that shaped the local scene such as Drum n’ Bass, Techno, House and Downtempo with live instruments, and samples from traditional latin american music, Ma Wal creates an eclectic EP that aims to show new possibilities within the electronic music of this part of the world.

El Río es, como todo primer EP, una exploración de influencias musicales y técnicas de producción y composición. En el caso de este EP Ma Wal (el proyecto musical de Mateo Walschburger, productor, artista y arquitecto de Bogotá, Colombia) explora la idea de aquello que entendemos como música electrónica latinoamericana hoy en día, con acercamientos más experimentales a la producción y composición. Al mezclar elementos de algunos de los géneros que han formado la escena local como el Drum n' Bass, Techno, House y Downtempo con instrumentación más tradicional y samples de música latinoamericana, Ma Wal crea un EP ecléctico que busca mostrar nuevas posibilidades dentro de la música electrónica de esta parte del mundo.

La idea de este nuevo disco fue la curiosidad de Bellido por sentir lo que emerge desde la reinterpretación de otros artistas respecto de sus canciones originales y poder experimentar, según indica el músico, “cómo estos sonidos se amalgaman con otros artistas de distintas latitudes de la tierra”.

Es por ello que Chakana Remixes trasciende a la idea de “nuevas versiones”; integra la necesidad del joven músico peruano de volver a experimentar con nuevos sonidos y sensorialidades propuestos por otros artistas. Así, la búsqueda nace a partir de querer vivenciar, tal como propone Bellido “cómo estos sonidos vernaculares los entienden otros productores, que están muy abiertos a muchos estilos”, integrando, por ejemplo, el disco, el global bass, el downtempo y el house. 
 
En la reinterpretación de las canciones originales participaron músicos de diversas partes del mundo, tales como Nina Simmons (Italia), A-Tweed (Italia), Juan Correa (COL), Tribilin sound (PER), El Extravagante y Sistema Beat Andino (Chile), quienes hicieron un trabajo detallado y desafiante, ya que los temas originales del disco Chakana ya representaban una gran complejidad y virtuosismo impuesto por Bellido en un disco original profundo, con un imaginario potente de significados y conexiones ancestrales e investigación sobre sonoridades propias de diversas zonas de Perú.

The bird knew it was time again to flee from the cold and the human noise. It was a long journey to solitude. It gathered its flock to start their trip south. They crossed endless fields and dense forests, above them the crystal blue sky and the warm sun warming their feathers. The world was in silence. But on the horizon dark clouds gathered and formed a storm. Rain was hitting the earth like drums and thunder shook the air. The birds fought their way through the clouds, spending so much of their energy that they almost fell out of the sky from exhaustion. But the moment they broke through the clouds they were free again. Here they could have flown forever till their final destination.
