excess return to the fray with the sophomore instalment of their charity VA series - ANY BPM. The record delivers upon the excess mantra & assembles bassy cuts of every flavour, across a glistening tracklist featuring nineteen unique producers from across the globe. The project was undertaken in support of Fareshare, a UK based charity that combats food poverty across the country.

In our time of spiralling inflation, the burgeoning cost of living crisis has made food poverty a daunting reality for so many. excess will donate all profits from the sales of this project to Fareshare, to make what difference we can to those in need during a time of unprecedented difficulty. 

Contributing to this causes are a host of exciting artists, across a wide spectrum of underground bass music genres. Moving from ambient 2-step and bouncy UK funky rhythms to raucous 4x4 grime and turbo jungle, this record navigates every corner of the bass music landscape, without stopping to take a breath. The two longtime friends wrote this EP during COVID lockdown when they ended up living on a farm in South Somerset. The slowdown of life gave them time to explore new sounds and more of a ‘home listening’ vibe as opposed to all out club bangers. The 2 producers have combined their visions into a 6 track EP, taking us on a journey through tempo and style. 

Samurai Breaks is no stranger to the rave scene, the multifaceted producer has been tearing up dance floors and festivals around the country with his unique style of turbo rave. Samurai Breaks’ vast discography includes releases on Off Me Nut Records, Hoover Sound, Trax Haven, The Dreamers and Hardcore Energy. 
Mr. Breaks is also the joint founder of ‘Super Sonic Booty Bangers’ a platform used to push the 160bpm sound he is widely known for. 
It's been a magical 2022 for Samurai Breaks, after winning DJ Mags Best Breakthrough Producer in 2021, he has been playing shows and festivals up and down the country every weekend, including stand out b2bs with Fixate / Mandidextrous / Pete Cannon/ Addison Groove / Itoa and Mixtress as well as notable sets at Boomtown, Glastonbury, Beatherder and Balter. Now the final cherry on a successful year comes in the form of OMW002.

The EPs counterpart, Arcane, has also been making waves in the UK underground scene, most notably with their intricate break science and dramatic atmospheres. Since dropping their first EP on Omerta in 2020, Arcane has gone on to release 2 records with Rua Sound, Defrostatica and a Collab EP with Samurai Breaks on Trax Haven. These tracks have picked up support from top names like Sherelle / Addison Groove / DjRum , Om Unit, Jon 1st and more. His first forays into the DJ world have seen him play at Beatherder festival, Bristol and recently his first international booking playing out in Ireland with Rua Sound alongside Sully / Itoa and Sun People.

Track 1: Dem Kicks - The first track kicks things off in style with a 130bpm fusion of 808 beats, breaks and classic stabs.

Track 2: I Can’t Do It Alone - The second track takes us up to 160bpm, fusing classic jungle elements with more modern and percussive breaks. 

Track 3:  Siren Wob - Track three pushes the tempo higher again to 170. This high energy track fuses aggressive FM synths with deep basses and clean break patterns. 

Track 4: Remember Dat - The other side of the record takes us back down to 130bpm with the beautiful atmospheres and nostalgic sounds of ‘Remember Dat’ 

Track 5: Run Da Scene - Another high energy 160 track with deep jungle aesthetic basslines, tied together with grimey claps and broken beats

Track 6: Sunshine Dreaming - The title track of the EP is a laid back 130bpm journey through bass and breaks, tied together with floaty vocals and epic soundscapes.

PREMIERE: Samurai Breaks & Arcane - Run Da Scene [Omertà Records]

Our latest premiere is an absolute masterclass in jungle rhythms as Arcane pushes boundaries with his latest track 'Curse of the Pharaohs' from the EP of the same name. Due out Dec 16th on the mighty Irish label Rua Sound / Foxy Jangle listen to it hear first.

His second foray into the Rua Sound and Foxy catalogue sees him push the boundaries of bass infused jungle rhythms, offering rolling breaks, alongside intricate melodies and percussive mastery.

This outing is on the Irish label's stellar jungle series, Foxy Jangle, which has previously featured luminaries such as Sully, Tim Reaper, and FFF. On this double-A release, Arcane marks out his space in the jungle landscape: hard precise drum programming backed with swooping basslines, with bright melodic leads throughout.

The Bristol-based producer is on a run right now, following the release of a collaborative EP with Jon 1st this month, and headlining the Rua Sound weekender last October.

The double track release is out December 16th, with the pre-orders for vinyl and digital available via the Rua Sound Bandcamp here. Don't sleep on it!
