Based in Glasgow, Lewis Lowe - co-founder of Redstone Press Records alongside Pseudopolis - has been carving out his space in the Scottish and wider UK scene over the last five years. 

An independent record label from the Highlands of Scotland, Redstone Press Records was born out of long nights on homegrown sound systems pushing the UK scene, with a unique northern edge that comes from the freedom and isolation felt in that part of the world. The next EP ‘XXXX’ comes courtesy of London based producer and sound designer Henry Greenleaf, and is due to for release on 22nd April. 

Redstone Press hold down a regular residency on Voices Radio, and Lewis has previously guested on Rinse, Noods, Balamii, Clyde Built Radio & Radio Buena Vida. Redstone Press host regular parties at Edinburgh institute, Sneaky Petes -  recently welcoming iona up for an all night long shakedown.  You can catch Lewis B2B Bake all night long on 9th April, and spinning solo at Kelburn Garden Party, Riverside Festival and a few other parties yet to be announced over the summer.  

Speaking on the mix, Lewis says, “I had been overthinking this mix for far too long and had a few too many ideas in mind but when it came to preparing it this fast and loose 1.5hr mix was the result. Featuring some new music from my record label Redstone Press and a load of stuff I’ve been wanting to feature in a mix for a long time, out to Tony Morris and Neuronal Writings for supplying the eerie spoken words. The mix starts slow, gets weird and ends fast. It has its moments of clarity and alternatively moments of chaos but that is quite similar to my DJing style and I wanted this mix to represent that as best as possible.”

Two exquisite producers meet for a sequence of unbridled mixes. UK based Galtier and Parisian Fluid Matter share a common passion for drums and multicultural percussive rhythms. Their energy and their sharp sense of building a club music, but not only, make them guests that we are proud to host! 

Galtier’s mix is an invitation to self-exploration through ambient soundscapes and throbbing bass lines. We do not forget to move as long thanks of incursions into a UK garage side that he knows well and has mastered to excellence. Right next-door Fluid matter joined him with a session that he has decided to dedicate almost exclusively to d&b, sub frequencies and hypnotic sounds. Jubilant moment perfectly executed; we are happy that he did it this way.

Anyone who’s ever heard a set from carin kelly knows how easily the Rinse FM resident glides from rhythm to rhythm. Influenced by both UK and US bass music, her percussive sets are vibrant, simultaneously exploring depth in textures and groove, and catches dancefloors off guard with her ingenious blending of tempos and genres. 

This week the French DJ is at the helm of our mix series and delivers a brimful 60-minutes of bass-heavy goods. “Pluralism of rhythms have always been a major key in my sound, and I obviously wanted to work on it on a podcast serie named "Rhythmic Culture". It was important to put together a bunch of my references and inspirations in term of music—especially of rhythms—going back and forth between deep and warm grooves, fast and slow, complexity and minimalism.”
