The Family Piknik Music label hits release number five with super fresh and exciting French artist TIME. He serves up a fantastic track with remixes from Cioz & Tom Pooks & Joy Kitikonti.

TIME has been heavily supported by Solomun and Agoria and is a pivotal player in the French scene and wider underground. His track here ‘Keys Of Gods’ has been premiered in the official aftermovie for Family Piknik festival and naturally became an official 2018 anthem. A second remix pack will be available late February with the mighty Marc Romboy on board.

The tune itself is a deep, brooding house cut with warm bass. The chords step up through the track while bird calls and cosmic keys bring colour. It is destined for big things this winter and will sweep the floor off its feet. 

After having been championed by the one and only Sven Väth in his latest Cocoon compilation, Family Piknik Music co-founders Tom Pooks & Joy Kitikonti invite us for a progressive-house trip, using one of the main arpeggios as a totally hypnotic tool. The breakdown will make many dance floors lose their minds.

Already signed on Monaberry (Super Flu), Einmusika and Get Physical, Cioz is a young and fresh Italian talent who impresses with this ethnic remix, using analog elements, LFOs and amazing percussions to deliver the perfect remix.

All in all this is another standout release from this ever more vital label.

A rainforest sanctuary. A phenomenon neglected from every atlas.

Colours, shapes, creatures native to the sunburnt bushlands, fill the labyrinth. A truly distinctive display of vibrance. The passageway walls are penetrated by beams of light that set aglow greens and golds, purples and blue hues. Darkness occupies the leafy edge and ominous corners, shrouding the maze in thrill.

The journey takes many forms. The destination unbeknownst to those within the labyrinth, but the destination remains unimportant.

⇸ About 'Labyrinth, Lost In Techno 02' ⇷

Bassic Records’ second instalment of ‘Labyrinth, Lost In Techno’ showcases the definitive and colourful styles of Australian electronic dance music, ever growing in popularity. Influenced heavily by nature and the unique dance events that take place in the great outdoors, the sound takes form as progressive and psychedelic jaunts of techno and house, driven by emotive storytelling.

The 14 track compilation comprises of label stalwarts Doppel, Gabriel Moraes, Ark-E-Tech, Rainbird, TAYA, EEEMUS, John Baptiste, Käse Kochen, Monotreme, Victor Y, and collaborators Nanoplex (UK), Waveback (IT), Mud (IT/DE), Spintribe (RU), Diamandy (SE), Sandokan (IL), Charles Oliver, Biomass, Mecca, Samwise and Yokobus.

Sitting at an average of 125bpm, the compilation reaches a beefy 127 with ‘Spurge’ by Gabriel Moraes and is rounded off with the deep intricate closer, Mud’s ‘Mistakes’ at a neat 113bpm. Exploring an array of unique sub genres, some tracks can be identified as progressive techno, progressive house, psytech, deep techno, others are difficult to categorise into anything.

We call it ‘bush techno’.
