James Shaw emerged from London’s burgeoning post dubstep scene as Sigha in 2009, with a series of carefully executed releases offering early insight into the producer’s long lasting preoccupation with intricate sound design & rich tonal finish.

These early eps marked the start of a constantly evolving and explorative production career. At the heart of Shaw’s contemporary work is the notion of process via humanistic development and ritual catharsis through repetition. A binding component of his artistic premise is an arcane spirituality with the restrained maximalism and cavernous depth of his dance floor material, drawing as much from traditional places of worship as it does from the brutalist architecture of Europe’s finest clubbing spaces.

For our 450th transmission, we have the pleasure of having Madrid-based maestro Psyk over for two hours of straight-out finesse, no-frills techno that whips and bangs like a dream. The list of labels on which Manuel Anos, alias Psyk, has released speaks volumes as to the artist’s nonpareil talent - Tresor, Mote Evolver, Figure, Semantica, Modularz, and obviously his own imprint, Non Series… really, does it get better than that? Showcasing his highly sophisticated blends and ever tasty mixing skillset, Psyk’s number 450 mix pulls out the big guns and showers madness correspondingly. *Disclaimer: be ready to get pinned down to your seat as a result of listening to this mix. BIO:
One of the leading names in Paris’ contemporary scene, Zadig is one of the main forces responsible for the return of the City of Light to worldwide prominence as a centre for forward-looking techno. A participant in the ‘90s French rave scene in the hardcore and acid days, Sylvain Peltier found his true inspiration with the arrival of Mills, Surgeon, and Beltram and labels like Tresor, Lost, and Synewave and the techno that his style remains rooted in to this day. After moving to Paris in the mid-2000s, Zadig became quickly involved in the beginnings of what would become the present-day Parisian upswing, making an early release in 2006 as Day is Dying on the Rouen-based Euro Visions label. In 2009 he returned, this time as Zadig and this time to stay, quickly forging a relationship with the important Syncrophone label and distributor in Paris. 

There has not been any looking back since, and as Paris’ techno scene continues to rise from the ashes of the early 2000s to the vibrant, world-recognized heights it now occupies, Zadig has made essential contributions to this ascendancy. Starting in 2011, he launched his Construct Re-Form label, which has gone on to a residency at the legendary Rex Club and continues to debut and support bracing new French talent like Antigone, Voiski, Birth of Frequency, and Zadig himself. His own discography also continues to grow, with releases on the reknown Deeply Rooted House in 2013, the New York-based Chronicle, Children of Tomorrow, and continued support from Syncrophone, as well as compilation appearances on Tresor, Reclaim Your City, and Studio R°. As Zadig’s reputation as a leader in the French scene has spread, he has gone on to play numerous dates around Europe, with appearances in Berghain and a deepening relationship with Tresor, at both Concrete and the Weather festival in Paris, and worldwide in New York and Argentina, alongside scene-leading contemporary talent and legends like Scion, Rødhåd, Peter van Hoesen, DVS1, Inigo Kennedy, Samuli Kemppi, Jonas Kopp, Johannes Volk, Shifted, Lucy, and many more. 2015 saw the debut of his Unforeseen Alliance live collaborative project with label mates Voiski, Antigone, and Birth of Frequency, all of whom have moved on to increasing success as both Zadig and Construct Re-Form have gained recognition. 

With Paris’ resurgent club scene blossoming to worldwide attention not seen since the ‘90s, it is the dedicated efforts of those like Sylvain Peltier who have helped to bring about this revival and continue to lead it to new heights. As Zadig, as a label head, as a DJ, and as a central figure in its continued growth, he is an essential figure in its present and a leading light for its future.

Techno and ambient have a certain inextricable valence that many great artists are constantly mining in their search for new sounds, though maybe few as well as Berlin based DJ/Producer Alex Moya. Under his Refracted alias, the Spaniard is master of his sound: one that veers from atmospheric and pathos heavy to dexterous techno fit for dancefloor ritual. He’s a sculptor, of transcendent waveforms that is, and one whose sonic explorations have been released on storied imprints like PoleGroup, Silent Season, Semantica, Slow Life and his very own outlet Mind Express (fanfare predictably close at heel). Chief among his recent work? Bassiani Podcast 159 is a strong contender. A droning dose of reality-warping techno, 95 minutes of ricocheting sounds from a talent like no other.

In the early 90s, techno hits Japan. Surprised and intrigued, Takaaki Itoh was impressed with this sound. This unique style of beats revealed the gateway to a world of underground music in Japan, something he had never heard before.
Surprise slowly gave way to addiction when Takaaki Itoh heard the sound of such artists like UR, Derrick May, Axis, Hardfloor, Sven Väth, Harthouse, Warp and Rising High. 
Finding out he just couldn't get enough of it, in 1994 Takaaki Itoh began to organise his own techno parties in Norioka Iwate, having success by providing fantastic line ups.

In 1996, he decided that it was time to start making his own tracks, so he went out, purchased the vital instruments and began producing. 
After sending out 3 finished tracks to various labels, Electracom UK made the first contact with him, and followed to release his first track. This moment was something he will never forget, as for the first time in his life he was able to finally release his own record. 
Then several releases followed and he began to appear in DJ charts and magazines all over the world.

Takaaki Itoh's Japanese style of techno is purely unique, underground and nothing that had been heard before in Europe. 
In a couple of years, he became recognized as the most underground and expected japanese Techno DJ.
Takaaki Itoh has now taken the next step and started his own label Wols, whilst keep playing in great venues wolrdwide.
