A few weeks back an email landed in our inbox signposting music from a mysterious artist operating under the guise of Cleyra. We were kindly tipped off by the team at Timedance who usually know a thing or two about cutting edge electronica but even by their standards this one was far out.

However, we say that in the very best way.

Cleyra is an artist who likes to keep themselves private. The music does the talking and offers a brief insight into their psyche but that’s about it.

This mix is a tour de force demonstrating the potential future of dance and electronic music, a hectic maze of sounds which challenge and entice at both the same time.

Cleyra: The 'Shine A Light On' Mix

Mara is a composer and curator based in Eora/Sydney. Working with viola and laptop, she creates performances and sound pieces for film, dance, and gallery spaces. Her 2024 album At Every Corner (Pure Space) transforms everyday sounds into immersive landscapes, reflecting her connection to time, place, and community. She also hosts Absorbed Terrain on Fade Radio, exploring the intersections of sound and environment.
