We’re celebrating the release of the album today by sharing the song ‘Twibbon Wife’, a track musing on the legacy of The Stone Roses, Ellis-Bextor and armchair occultists.

Kellan's hued feedback, Izzy's sturdy basslines, Jer's paperbag guitar tone and rumble pack zaps, Liam's sheets of sound and Brennen's multidirectional drums are expansive, restlessly inventive and truly psychedelic. Earth Ball - 'A Need To Cool Down'

Green shoots have burst forth from Parsnip! The Australian group have a super-catchy single out today called ‘Turn to Love’, taken from their sophisticated sophomore album ‘Behold’. Drawing comparisons with Dolly Mixture, Sara Goes Pop and Look Blue Go Purple, Parsnip are an animated ensemble, full of life, emotional complexity and humour. On ‘Behold’ they explore both the inner and outer realms of consciousness with quick wits and some seriously quality jangle and jolt.

Parsnip - 'Turn To Love'

‘Your Move’ is the first taster from Nottingham duo RATTLE’s forthcoming third album Encircle (coming Feb 28th 2025, Upset The Rhythm), and sees the duo expand their unique experiments in rhythm, metre and tension. 

‘Your Move’ is mesmeric and boundless, hypnotic in its minimalism of double-drums and the often wordless almost tribal vocals of RATTLE’s Katharine Eira Brown.  

“The images in my head for the first half of ‘Your Move’ were water - reflecting in pools, and flowing” explains Katharine. “Then the second half is like it is stuck in an endless slow-moving cycle. The bit in-between is the flitting in-between, we wanted it to feel like a CD getting stuck. The words Your Move might be about moving in an embodied way or freedom / movement / expression, but they are also an emboldening call to action - it's your turn - what are YOU going to do, what's your next move? "


Your Move

Today we’re sharing another soaring single from Quinie’s new album ‘Forefowk, Mind Me’ (out May 23rd). ‘Col My Love’ is the very first track on the album, and it’s a powerful song to sing, accompanied by some epic pipes too. Quinie explains that the words “warn of the dangers of being close to the shoreline. I thought it would be a good fit with this footage of me and Maisie trying to navigate one of the challenges on one of our walks. Perhaps not quite as scary as being jailed on a cliff top, but nevertheless an adventure.”

Kaputt - 'Carnage Hall'

From the album 'Into The Country', out 25 October, 2019.

'Into The Country' was recorded throughout the year of 2016 in-between touring/working and Cory & Chris moving to Mexico and Australia respectively. Basic tracks were recorded by longtime collaborator Ian Rundell in his studio and then messed with in our practice space at the Monofonus compound in Austin, TX. Chris did most of the heavy lifting. Cory did some of the drum machines, and George was fiddling with some electronic gadgets, with lyrics once again mined from the info wars comment section and various other stressful situations like airports and hospitals. This is the first proper Spray Paint LP since 2016's 'Feel The Clamps' (Goner). Since then collaborations with Protomartyr, Ben Wallers, Ben Mackie, and Dan Melchior have been released.

 

Though Spray Paint have no touring plans in the immediate future, the trio will reconvene in Austin this November to for multiple nights at Hotel Vegas as part of the Monofonus Press weekend taking place at said venue and the M.P. compound, November 22-24 (other participants include The Rebel, Beech Creeps, Tashi Dorji, Sun Araw, Obnox, Claire Rousay, Ralph White, Brandy, Matchess and many others).
