London Krautpunk 5-Piece Share Feverish New Single ‘Acid Bath’

Having recently completed a series of extensive tours across The UK, France, Germany, Belgium, and The Netherlands, London punks Beige Banquet share their first full band studio recording, “Acid Bath”. As the lead single from the upcoming EP of the same name, it highlights the tight-knit fervour that the band built through unrelenting live appearances.

 Initially the solo bedroom project of Tom Brierley, Beige Banquet leapt out of pandemic lockdowns with a fully formed and highly beloved debut album, Beta. Having since evolved into a fierce 5-piece known for unforgettably hot-blooded live shows, including sets at Left Of The Dial, DIY Alive, and Binic Festival, the group are now sharing their first collaborative studio effort. 

Recorded in Brierley’s bedroom studio, the track expands upon the sounds featured on earlier albums and EPs. Trading in unquestioning drum machines for propellant live drums, and adding agile layers of guitars and percussion over a saturated bassline, Beige Banquet display a tense and determined edge.

Speaking on the track’s themes, Brierley explains “Lyrically it's an ode to an undefined temporary solution for bitter desperation, almost to the point of nihilism”. 

The track, fittingly, also sees a more frenzied vocal approach than before as Brierley matches the messaging with a frantic performance that hurtles out lyrics in an increasingly distressed manner over the course of the song. In every way, Beige Banquet are now larger, louder, and more intense.

'Nationalsville' is the first single taken from The Toads' debut album 'In The Wilderness' out June 9th!

Toads have no teeth so have to swallow their prey alive and in one gulp, they can’t hop or ribbit like frogs and they have been known to fall from the sky like rain when “weather gets weird!”

The Toads however are an extra-ace band from Melbourne who Upset The Rhythm are working with on their debut album ‘In The Wilderness’. Navigating the dross of modern life, whilst keeping one foot in a dream is the key to their nervy post-punk scuffle. Featuring members of The Shifters, The Living Eyes and Parsnip you’d be forgiven for guessing what The Toads sound like, but their mordant step and minor-key enchantment makes for an intriguing parry.

Today we’re releasing the group’s rapid first single ‘Nationalsville’, a rollicking toe-tapper of jaunty riffage, sprightly bass bounce and drums that get the blood pumping. Brooklyn based Rips have quickly built a reputation amongst NYC showgoers, winning them over with their virtuous melodies and sheer ferocity amidst an endless flurry of shows. Their songs may channel late '70s New York City bands like Television and The Feelies, but Rips propels these references into something new. Their self-titled debut, produced by Austin Brown of Parquet Courts, is eleven tracks of buzzing guitar riffs driven by a charged rhythm section, all set under lyrics that are actually worth a damn.

Rips (the record) takes cues from the moonlighting era of rock, while delivering a set of songs distinctly fit for the modern age. Once described as a “hyperreal rock n’ roll group”, the phrase “borne forward ceaselessly into the future" is more what they’re going for here.

So break an old habit. Let your hair down (or up). Rips will take you there.
