Mademoiselle Anne Sanglante Ou Notre Nymphomanie Auréolé, the double-barreled name for Masonna , of course, is one of most prolific, adventurous, and respected noise artists, making dozens of releases on his own legendary and astonishing label Coquette, presenting them in very limited editions, sometime totally confidential (one sole copy), and reflecting his predilection for 60’s psychedelic music revisited in its own very peculiar way. He transforms his voice into noise, feeding the microphone back through a process of extreme distortion. His shouts become clipped bursts of overloaded sound, doubled and extended by a delay that displace the sounds into stuttered blasts of static. From noise lines, to minimal, warbling  expanses, to the ambiences and schizoid thinking effects, it’s a journey into a versatile mind who we clearly never heard enough from.
Released by Coquette on cassette in 1995 in just 15 copies with handmade covers, composed of different materials and inserted in transparent envelopes, the album Hate features one of Masonna’s most exciting and extraordinary work.  By deploying stripped down microphone-and-scream foundations, Masonna’s ingenious sonic palette and his unerring sense of rage are cast in thrilling, clear-eyed relief. The use of pedals and effects overwhelms the vocalizations that are practically not heard and creates an irresistible tension, layering a dazzling array of rich sonic colors, hard fragments, and unsettling timbres over the sort of taut psychedelic feedback used in Kosmische Musik and the echo of Tangerine Dream 's masterpiece Zeit ring out in the grooves of the double vinyl reissue. The polarities are pronounced and brilliantly assembled, injecting even the most rough brushwork with an inescapable air of suspense; it’s a real gem, deftly balancing harsh noise and otherworldly effects.

Lucy Liyou’s music carries with it deeply personal poetry, in a literal and metaphorical sense, conveyed using sound collage, noise, field recordings, and abstracted pop tendencies. When Notice first heard Lucy’s music, we were struck by its incredible honesty, vulnerability, and originality. For her first collaboration, A Need/A Want, she is joined by Philadelphia-based guitarist and lyricist Yska. Bizarre shards of Yska's electric guitar permeate Lucy’s deft and supple production techniques as the sounds contained throughout the two pieces produce moments of confusion, bliss, and catharsis. Using text-to-voice and largely unprocessed singing, the duo's lyrics present a refreshing and striking potency: “I’ve only been there once; and only for a little while; she walked like lavender; swaying, leaning…”. Music this honest and also so carefully crafted is a true treasure, and A Need/A Want is a testament to musicians honing their visions in a very unique way.

On the battlefield, distant cries of death and detonations resound. A horse’s neigh and bray. Conjurations of La Pucelle d'Orléans aka Joan of Arc’s military campaigns at Orléans, before meeting their fate of wrongful conviction and burning at the stake.

The debut album by the elusive industrial/power electronics duo Baglover ‘Throw Down the Gauntlet’ evokes themes of chivalry, crude theatres of war, and manuscript illuminations such as the book of hours Très riches heures du Duc de Berry, and celestial phenomenons, not unlike that which befell Nuremberg on 14 April 1561.

Woven into the sonic landscape is the melancholically beautiful and gut wrenching hurdy gurdy, an enigmatic melodic and drone-producing medieval instrument as seen in Dutch painter’s Bosch’ The Garden of Earthly Delight, skillfully performed by Jimi Hellinga (Elektrovolt, Zandvoort & Uilenbal).

‘Throw Down the Gauntlet’ is dark and atmospheric, channeling a wide range of instruments: incantations summoned by casio organs, vintage atmospheric choir pads, and various noise makers.
