Theo Gramal (@theogramal) is the musical project of Leipzig based nature’s child Luca, artist and creator of our today‘s podcast # 062. 
We’re happy to share with you his very first live set - a warm coloured mosaic he has designed in his studio in collaboration with friends, containing exclusively his own productions.
When Luca learned to make music and express moods and feeling through it in his early 20s, a whole new world opened up for him, quickly getting addicted to creating those fluffy and energetic vibes we know him for.
With warm and deep baselines, melodious grooves with oriental touches and playful patterns, his sound makes you wander through imaginary worlds of warmth and mystery. 
To follow Theo Gramal’s idea of a bird as an inner spirit animal, a symbol of lightness and freedom, we invite you to get up, feel light like a flying creature, move and forget about gravity, just flow and enjoy the rhythms with us. ❤️

The trip begins slowly and intensify as it goes, through very different landscapes that one passes by...
With his songs and sets, he like to provide emotions, to touch people's sensitivity and make them happy. You can choose how to receive this set. Inhale deeply and immerse yourself once more in the ethereal sounds of @ali_dada, as "nanou" comes to life once again with four reinterpretations of their original EP. The remixes showcase the talents of Lokke, Skarú, Jiony, and Daniel Imhof—whose creative endeavors add new dimensions to ali dada's dreamy and unwinding music.

Their original productions artfully blend elements from diverse and distant genres, fusing experimental ambient vibes with jazzy, psychedelic guitars, and mellow hip-hop beats. Through extended jam sessions, the trio crafts music that evokes a desire to slow down, linger, and immerse oneself in the carefully crafted sonic landscapes. The music is filled with subtle elements, including snippets and field recordings, delivering delightful acoustic surprises that encourage dreaming and transcendence. 
The remixers share their personal experiences with "nanou" and the motivations behind their creative choices. @lokke expressed his admiration for the warm music and chose "zwueschetag" for its beautiful softness. @skaruu, drawn to the relaxing summer vibes, selected "laguna" to experiment with beat patterns and sample chopping. @jiony found comfort in the EP's blend of electronic downtempo and instrumental music, remixing "345" to infuse it with downtempo dance floor drums and nostalgic guitar phrases. @daniel-imhof, while initially hesitant to remix ali dada's unique music, found inspiration during his days in the serene valley of Onsernone, rearranging and adding subtle touches to "eineno."
 
The "Nanou Remixes" EP is a reflection of creativity, showcasing the versatility and ingenuity of both ali dada and the remixers. It stays true to the essence of "nanou" but like revisiting a beloved place with fresh, wonder-filled eyes, it beckons listeners to step aboard again, finding the familiar with a delightful, evocative twist.

Our next podcast is a special live set by the Paris-based musicians Nato & Sahalé.
Individually, they bring us to worlds of ethnic vocals, percussions and wonderfully tantalizing melodies  - each in their own special way. For the 23rd Urban Cosmonaut Radio podcast, they have combined their powers in a timeless live set that takes listeners on a gentle journey through mysterious lands of the oriental past. 

Inspired by their travels and diverse musical influences, this set is the symbiosis of computer scientist Nato and sound craftsman Sahalé. Their productions take their time in building up, releasing in vast spheres of melody, haunting voices and tribal rhythms. We close our eyes, letting them guide us to distant moons in different galaxies, knowing that with Nato & Sahalé, a kind of delicate beauty will engulf us if we trust them enough to follow them on a trip through cosmic portals of endless, profound music.

It’s funny how sometimes, you know that you’re boarding a vehicle to go on a trip without knowing exactly what the destination will be. Our next Urban Cosmonaut Radio Ship pilot  #28, Luis Rosenberg, is known for doing just that - showing himself and his passengers just how many colours of the rainbow exist, and how many ways there are to explore them.

If Luis Rosenberg were an art collector, people from all over the world of all ages and tastes would stand in line to admire his exhibitions. The Austrian born, Berlin-based DJ has a refined taste for music that makes him truly un-prejudiced. He doesn’t discriminate in his choices - as long as it has groove, it will catch his ear. 
Luis tends to select tracks for his eclectic sets that are interchangeably timeless, unique and innovative - a tendency that is reflected in the music of his biggest influences: Bob Dylan, Nicolas Jaar and Acid Pauli. Having started out of passion in 2006 with A Numark „DJ IN A BOX“ set, loads of vinyls from the flea market and a cassette tape recorder to record his first mixtapes, this next mixtape is one that will surprise you, make you smile in recognition and gasp in surprise at the lack of genre boundaries or style restrictions. As a wise man once said: anything goes, as long as it has groove. 
To quote Luis’ favourite sentence in “Never Ending Story”: Fantasia is the world of human fantasy. Every part, every creature is a piece of the dreams and hopes of mankind. Therefore it has no boundary.

Somewhere, way up there in a galaxy far, far away, there was a boy floating around in space.
This boy’s head was filled with sounds so trippy, so unique and so melancholic - that when an idea came, it was unlike anything you’d ever heard before. The boy’s ears were filled with endless amounts of recycled stardust - so that whenever he put on his headphones to make music, everything he created sounded like heaven. And the boy’s mind was constantly buzzing with impulses - so that whenever he expressed himself, they came pouring out of him in the form of sublime music. To us, he is known as Ninze.
Ninze is multi-faceted, yet utterly recognisable in his style. Having first taken the music scene by storm with unique productions and famously slo-ow DJ sets alongside his 2nd half Okaxy, he has since evolved as a solo artist as well as a member of the production- and live performance trio Wide Awake. 
No matter what he does, you can always hear it: that distinct sound that makes your knees feel like jelly and your thoughts like cloudy shadows. It’s a vibe that transports you to a place in your mind, something in between diving into trippy underwater melancholia and shooting up into deep cosmic space.
It’s only fitting then that our next podcast is a live set recorded specially for the Urban Cosmic Universe. If you listen closely, you’ll notice the little shooting stars, pulling you deeper and deeper into a world you can lose yourself in with ease.

We are delighted to present the live premiere of Russian producers Geju, who composed a 100-minute live set that will send you free-falling through the Cosmic universe.

George Topuridze and Denis Kurchenko are a creative duo based in Moscow. When they aren’t hosting the Levelvda events in their hometown, the pair can be found pushing their creative forces as art directors of several projects such as Pinch, Ugolek, Severyane and Sempre.

Their music has mesmerised us from the start: 4/4 beats and free floating melodies, monotony vs. polyphony, synthesized textures and ethnic motifs all beautifully intertwined with vocals. We are taken on an emotional journey through delight and darkness, through space and time of what must be a dream or ritual. It seduces you, enchants you, and sets you free - in a whirl of smoke and spices.

Our next urban cosmic-cast was mixed by an artist who needs no introduction. 

Mimi Love has played herself into the hearts of countless people all over the globe with her signature sound and unforgettable gigs. Her sets are diverse and distinct, and have been known to move people’s hearts and feet in equal measure wherever she plays.
Although she can often be found discovering unknown territories, Berlin is the place where she loves to take off and land. As a member of the infamous Bachstelzen crew and resident DJ at Katerblau, she is deeply rooted in the German capital, where she has been playing many different roles in “this theatre called underground” for the past 10 years.

Her heartwarming style encompasses both slow and fast vibes, spanning a mixture of electronica-ethno, soft rock - downtempo hiphop all the way to what she calls pop-techno. This podcast is peek into her colourful collection, a mix that showcases the different kinds of music she has collected over the past months. P.r.Λ.Λ.H & Steffen Kirchhoff (feat. Luna) - Urban Birds

This EP is inspired by the cultural heritage which the Argentines and Chileans seek to perpetuate. Ulises has developed cultural and emotional bonds towards the natives, whose struggles he feels and shares. Struggles for their own traditions, their own lands and their own existence. Thanks to the resistance of cultures like the Mapuche we can now enjoy traditional melodies and instruments, such as kultrungs, charangos and quenas, that Ulises skilfully merges with an electronic timber palette to achieve the deep organic sound that we can appreciate in this EP. 
Uña pays homage to the acclaimed quena player Uña Ramos, from the mountainous Jujuy province. Pewünguen derives from a chant in Mapudungun, the Mapuche language, that celebrates the rebirth of nature in spring. Here, the artist adopts the same chant metaphorically, to wish the rebirth of the Mapuches. 
Musician by formation, Ulises plays guitar, keyboard, and drums. Such multi-instrumental skills provide him with a broad range of sounds to blend and wedge into the electronic beat. Talking about the aesthetic he craves, Ulises stated “I want to have the possibility to choose any timber from any source I feel the music needs. No limits!” …and limitless is his desire to explore the vastness of sounds, to experiment new combinations. 
Besides the original tracks, the EP comprises four gems by Carrot Green, Steffen Kirchoff, Arutani, Coss & Iorie, who remixed Ulises’ productions.

For this episode, we are delighted to present you an original mix created for us by that extraordinary producer known as El Búho. His ability to blend natural tones and traditional South American motifs with electronic beat grew along the past 9 years and is now renowned. The resulting music creates magical soundscapes, it feels like having a night walk in a forest, the air is filled with the buzz of the creatures swarming around, fireflies sparkle in the dark. Although El Búho’s acoustics are painted in vivid colours, this mix is inspired by Winter. It all begun on a cloudy day in one of those “hobbit-esque” villages in Northern England. You can imagine him sitting by the window, watching the clouds being pushed on by the wind, while the fire burns slow in the stove. There, the artist found inspiration and recorded many of the impressions that we can now listen to on this beautiful mix. The rain tapping on the ground, jackdaws cawing, crunchy leaves being caressed by the wind… Those organic sounds, so familiar and yet so ethereal, they free your mind and might let you fly to imaginary locations. They're able to evoke bygone memories or make us dream of new places to explore. From there, the mix develops along the Winter and welcomes the upcoming Spring. So now open your heart, feel this delicate sound touching it and unleash your imagination to let your mind travel to your own peaceful place.

Perfectly in tune with the summer season upon us, Islandman presents a refreshing sound from the shores of the Black Sea with this splendid sunny mix. Originally from Turkey, this brilliant producer started out at a young age and made his way in music by playing a traditional long-necked lute known as a saz. It’s thanks to this early relationship with music that Islandman developed the technique and feeling needed to handle farfetched rhythms, sounds and chants inspired by the flowering cultures of the Mediterranean Basin and beyond to blend them with mastery in his tracks and mixes. This eclecticism and understanding of music has helped him put together a wide range of melodies and musical styles which extend from enchanting edits of traditional Bulgarian sounds to smooth balearic disco. His mix is exciting and mesmerising, catching the mind in a gentle twine of melodies and rhythms. His perfect balance of percussions and electronic beats shakes and ripples throughout the track, and lifts you with ecstatic vibes. The mix goes on in a beautifully arranged journey set by the pace of your own inner dance, as if the concept of time ceases to exist and it’s just you and the music. Our latest compilation features some of our old and new friends which joined the mission to trespass geographical and cultural borders, and to create a multifaceted community united in the common love for music. Our ‘Sonorities’ travel slow, but they travel far. Organic and joyful sounds reminding of Latin America and of their native people are flanked on the one side by instruments and motives coming from the East, on the other side there are urban trippy rhythms. Ecstatic dancing beats travel alongside ethereal and mesmerizing melodies. Such diversity is not only meant to present the variety of sounds which these great artists can exhibit, but also to represent the diversities among human beings which are here united in one heterogeneous and harmonious complex, as it’s the world we envision - a whole symbiotical organism...

Lui Mafuta - Laja

The calendar year is getting to an end and many tend to look back at the joys and successes, but also at the false steps. No better time than this to present a cosmonautic experience offered to us by the one and only Pacaya. His beautiful creations as painter, illustrator, and graphic designer have been delighting us for long time, and now we have the rare opportunity to appreciate his aesthetic also through sound. This beloved friend of ours embodies the concept of the multisensorial artist displaying here an exquisite selection of world music. The sound is the fourth dimension of his visual art. Pacaya explained that each of his artistic creations can be experienced in a deeper way when accompanied by the sound which nourished his mind, and which drove his hand during the making. The sound, somehow, makes the colours more vivid and complement the creation with further details. The inclusion of the sound wide opens the door which the visual art unlocks. That’s the doors to the intimate and emotional world of the artist, a world which Pacaya has been shaping with the physical and metaphysical experiences that he has collected through space and time. Crossing that doorstep gives the chance to make a digression from our respective “here and now” to transcend towards an inner dimension where we can relive our joys and forget our troubles, if we like, or to face the latter with calm and serenity. In that dimension we have the chance to enjoy our time, but also to learn from our false steps in a constructive and peaceful manner. The secret to do this is simple: just relax and feel.

UCR Extra Tape by Pacaya

The sun shines again in the Berlin sky and warms up our hearts, colors become vivid and the rhythms more vibrant. It is the right time to welcome Lui Mafuta (https://soundcloud.com/luimafuta) to our podcast series and to spread his seductive and enveloping sound into the warm breeze. 
Lui’s passion for music began in his adolescence when he started playing jazz drums alongside his father. He was greatly influenced by hip hop beats which formed the bedrock of his sound and early productions. 
However, the discovery of the so called ‘downtempo’ brought a remarkable change in his career as producer and introduced Lui to electronic music. The ease of the rhythms and the openness of the people crowding the scene helped him find a new form of expression, and shaped him to the brilliant producer that we know. Lui finds his inspiration in the energy of the crowd, and it´s his mission to return that energy in form of fresh sound. 
Lui finds enjoyment and motivation in the freedom that music production itself entails. The set he prepared for UCR was recorded live and consists exclusively of his own productions which are masterfully blended for us. We invite everyone - music lovers and attentive listeners, to experience that freedom too.

Today we are happy to welcome our Mexican amigo and amazing artist @jiony to our podcast series! If you didn’t have the chance to listen to him last October in Berlin, you now have the unique occasion to listen to the live set which he designed for his performances in the German capital. 
Jiony’s style is unmistakable, it consists of an elegant blend of vocal samples, jazzy and bluesy elements, which he masterfully combines with a bouncy and dubby bassline. The skilful producer doesn’t miss the chance to include also traditional motifs from his motherland, giving an exotic taste to his great sound. Jiony developed his skills over almost two decades, as he started producing music back in the late ‘90s on Fruity Loops, now known as FL Studio. Few years later he learned DJing on the CD players which his friend had at home. Playing music was fun, but limiting. Jiony wanted to play his own music in his own way, so he started the magical journey into live production in 2013, and that journey is still far from seeing its end. 
When asked about the message he wanted to deliver to his listeners, Jiony replied ‘Chill, shake, and enjoy’, as it is written on the packaging of a Mexican juice. No matter how weird this may sound, but these instructions truly fit the beautiful set which he prepared for us. Chilled but shaky...and definitely enJIONYable!

There are places on this beautiful planet where immensity is the only dimension, places where the clouds come so close that they seem accompanying your wandering. Places so infinitely empty that fulfil the spirit. The African plains and deserts are undoubtedly among those, and today we undertake an adventurous journey across their rhythms and flavours. These were the inspiring forces guiding Pedro Canale in the selection of the sounds for this beautiful mix. Pedro is the self-defined ‘joyful monkey’ which in 2005 started the music project Chancha Via Circuito(https://soundcloud.com/chanchaviacircuito). Back in the day in Buenos Aires, he was one of the pioneers who started combining the folk Latin-American rhythms of cumbia with electronic sounds. As his horizons expanded, different sonorities entered his sound palette and led him to become the ecletic musician and producer which we have the pleasure to listen to today. 
Besides featuring instruments and motives of the African continent, the mix he preapared for UCR captures the spirit of that land. Sparkling and vibrant sounds conceal dark tones, as lights and shadows on the dunes move together in a sinuous dance. Talking about the set Pedro said: `There was nothing for miles around; it was a wilderness`, and in that desert we roam. May its infinite emptyness fulfil our spirits.

For every end, there is always a new beginning and new constructive forces inspiring the writing of new chapters in that magical book titled Urban Cosmonaut Radio. Every page is a new plot populated with mystical creatures that come and go as time passes, and each of them leaves a little bit of itself. Sounds, feelings, and words which make up this wonderful adventure. Cosmic journeys and heroic challenges to keep spreading our message of love, unity, and endless hope.
Today’s story is set in the most creative and trendy rooftop of Moscow, and the ‘story-tailor’ is our dearest Sergey Pushkin, aka @betelgeize. Although Sergey has been DJing for more than a decade, and producing since 2015, this is the first set he compiled exclusively with his own productions. It was recorded at the Leveldva bar during an eclectic art performance involving two painters from the Nehudozhnik project, which resulted into a co-creative dialogue between music and graphical arts. We are honoured to present such unique and original material to our beloved listeners. Open your mind and explore the worlds which Sergey is going to disclose.
