Matthew Herbert is one of the most skilled purveyors of the weird and wonderful. This is the man that recruited master chef Heston Blumenthal as a collaborator and turned the life cycle of a farmed pig into a peculiar, yet sophisticated bout of electronica back in 2011. He's been a busy man since. In 2012, he was appointed as the creative director of the revamped BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Then came his debut opera at the Royal Opera House, a score for the BFI and an album in a week live on stage and with an audience at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
The Shakes is Herbert's first outing under the name Herbert since 2006's grand Scale on K7!. As a project, it's anchored by intensely personal issues such as raising young children against a backdrop of an increasingly unstable world.
"Smart" utilises quirks from a Wormwood Scrubs piano as its spine, while Rahel Debebe-Dessalegne - who has also worked with the likes of Hejira and Nitin Sawhney - provides the playful vocal flourishes on top. The accompanying video, which we're also premiering today, has childhood nostalgia scribbled all over it. Anyone that loved flitting through Argos' various sections will find comfort in Herbert's skimming of home electronics in the catalogue.
It arrives on June 1st via Caroline International on CD and vinyl. Matthew Herbert will be on our screens later this evening with contemporaries Photonz, The Maghreban & Damon Frost - find out more information about it here.

It takes time for a series of seperate ideas to evolve into a fully concepteptualized album if it wants to have a place in history for Ali and Basti Schwarz, better known as Tiefschwarz. Since 1998 the duo, as both DJ's and producers, have perfected the art of dominating the moments only experienced on a dance floor, deeply immersed in sound. Their music is unique as it is creative. Among the countless extended players and remixes, the three landmark Tiefschwarz albums: "RAL 9005", "Eat Books" and "Chocolate" all have a common thread weaving them together; a historic vision uniting the musical crossroads of past and future. As with the previous albums, Tiefschwarz pause briefly on the subjective localization of artists in the (music) world to create an album which unfolds like a story told by master story tellers. Igniting the dance floor while at the same time giving the listener the opportunity to look beyond themselves and into the journey that is "Left".

With "Left", Tiefschwarz were able to radicalize the album-specific approach and focus more intently on combining grooves with an introspective perspective. They refrained to bring in an outside co-producer for the album and made sure to forego the cliche variety of guest musicians, concentrating instead on one congenial companion: Khan, who both Ali and Basti have been close friends with since the 90's. Khan, a Frankfurt native of Turkish and Finnish decent, is one of the most prominent and exhilarating German Techno pioneers. Since the early 90's, Khan has been looking to the future with his Bizz O.D. moniker or his demimonde project Captain Comatose in the 2000's when he blew up the club world with his brand of fierce theatrics, trash and outrageous hits. He has published on Harvest, accompanied Gus Gus on tour and held residencies from Mexico to New York to Berlin. His residencies also highlight his choice of musical programming: devilish eroticism, glamour, and a "do it yourself' approach as well as combining three distinctly amusing personalities: the classic crooner, the diva, and the cabaret star. Between Tiefschwarz and Khan, the project emotes an entirely new undertone of glamour weaving beats through a Hollywood of broken dreams.

Taken from Trentemøller’s new full-length album, ‚Into The Great Wide Yonder‘, a stunning achievement in modern production and cinematic songwriting, ‚Shades of Marble‘ has been reworked by the man himself, along rising artists KiNK and Kasper Bjørke.
Trentemøller‘s dramatic, edgy and daring remix of his own string drenched opus is nothing short of breathtaking. Leaning towards dancefloors with an appreciation for epic qualities, this expertly constructed re-think will surely be heard well into the festival season.

The inimitable man from Sofia, KiNK rises to the challenge of remixing ‚Shades Of Marble‘ and does so heroically. The pleasing result is a tough, Chicago meets Berlin jack-jam that leads to tripped out and freaky moments in the break, until his trademark drum machines do the rest!

Finally another bright star of the Danish scene, Kasper Bjørke, has his say with his deeper and more low slung remix that leads the listening into satisfying late night realms. Full of funk and melancholy, this is a welcome treat for fans of Bjørke‘s characteristic productions.

A mood we can very well enjoy to bury in deeply and with Luise's newest release listen to closely. »MENTIS EXCESSUS« is a tenderly crafted tale, a musical journey that paints broad images of false memories and blurry resemblances. Like a Déjà-vu that lasts too long to put aside, it crawls up your neck to give you that eerie feeling of curiosity with which you look at the uncanny world that suddenly surrounds you.

We are very pleased to welcome »WIDE AWAKE« as the most recent addition to Luises's sheltered, little family, a project that has its foundations at the talented hands and hearts of »Niju«, »Ninze« & »Okaxy«. These three banded together for greater good to provide nothing less, but their as well as Laut & Luise's first album.

This is sort of an apology for my absence and a statement, that i will release and make music on a regular basis again. This is a jam with my friend Martin (Piano) and myself (general production and guitar). I hope you enjoy it. More music to be released on different labels. My soundcloud however, will remain my channel to share free music that is more laid-back and listener friendly.

Anders Trentemøller has become one of the most respected names in cutting edge electronic music in the last few years. His rise to notoriety was sparked by his early, techy releases for Poker Flat and Audiomatique and has since gone on to stellar highs with his own personal take on the  genre, spanning, pop, rock, indie and classical. His debut album 'The Last Resort‘ was released in 2006 to much international acclaim, and the producer also began to become an in-demand remixer in the house and techno world. 

As the decade wore on his sound continued to progress, opening up his studio to more live instrumentation, and a looser, rock-meets electronic vibe with his stunning 'Into The Great Wide Yonder‘ LP. From legendary live shows with the 'Live In Concert‘ tour with a full backing band, to remixes for a whole host of talents outside of the electronic world, to producing new bands like Darkness Falls on the label hfn music, the restless creative is always a powerhouse of productivity.
