Peewit is the musical project and moniker of singer songwriter, hairdresser, painter and decorator, photographer, fine artist, philanthropist and cook Paul Whittering.  Things coalesced into something tangible musically the spring of this year with the recording of his first EP ‘Home’ on the Holy Isle, off Arran, Scotland.  

The piano and cello based songs of ‘Home’ are both cinematic and intimate, themes explored range from cataclysmic astronomical events to the loneliness of urban living, all delivered in Whittering’s rich but fragile baritone.  Important influences might include David Sylvian, Boards Of Canada, and Arvo Part.

Paul Whittering taught himself ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ on an old pub piano at his parents house aged five, thereby launching an abiding passion for music making as a way to negotiate and process his thoughts about the world.  His first LP - ‘Oygène’ by Jean Michel Jarre, was bought aged nine at a Gloucestershire village jumble sale for fifty pence.  

Thus Whittering’s childhood obsession of becoming a keyboard player surrounded by racks of complicated synthesisers became something of a reality when he joined Swindon based Indie band ‘Shrink’ in the late eighties.  Whilst touring up and down the country in their knackered Transit van they supported the likes of UK Subs, Tom Robinson, and Jesus Jones, recording and releasing two albums.

During a hiatus of some fifteen years Paul put himself through art school in London, did a Masters in Photography, organised a number of social documentary projects, became a Samaritan, and cut a fair bit of hair.  In a bid to take stock of it all, he cycled to Istanbul and back, and in the process, much to his surprise, discovered that the musical part of him was still intact.  In fact he wrote a song.  Which, lacking recourse to any form of instrumentation,  was done in his head.  

With his Peckham flat let to a bunch of Polish bus drivers, eventually, Paul Whittering washed up on Holy Isle - a Buddhist retreat centre off the west coast of Scotland; where he learnt to cook for people with complex dietary requirements, meditate, and write songs.  

The EP ‘Home’ was conceived with the help of Rose the head gardener and cellist, out of his hut in the woods overlooking an ancient sycamore tree and the Lamlash bay beyond, with the odd sheep or goat wandering past.  The storm systems of the Atlantic, perhaps lending a certain quality to the music.

Since then, and now back on the mainland, whilst sifting through his hard drive, replete as it is with myriad bits and pieces, odds and sods, and musical non sequiturs, Paul is also writing new material in preparation for the album he plans to record and release in 2018.

A  toroid is a doughnut-shaped object with a coil wound around it that is used as an inductor in electronic devices. The shape is described in mathematics as an object or surface generated by revolving a closed plane around an external axis that is parallel to it so it does not intersect; the resulting shape is doughnut-like, and the referred axis is at the very center of the open space.


Space itself is not flat, but curved. The curvature of space is responsible for gravity, and at a black hole space and time are so curved they get knotted up. Everything in the universe - light, subatomic particles, pizzas, yourself - is described in terms of a geometrical structure on the space-time 4-manifold. Manifolds are used to understand the large-scale structure of the Universe in cosmology, and the theory of relativity introduced the idea of matter-energy equivalence, which led to nuclear power, and the atomic bomb. The universe is now considered to be a 12 dimensional nested manifold. 

In addition to its real world correlations, the torus has also been used to illustrate certain concepts of the so-called "subtle energy" worlds. The toroidal form figures heavily into the esoteric study of sacred geometry...a meta-science that reveals how shape and form are primary underlying principles of manifestation.
Since ancient times, "seers" have confirmed that the human aura appears as a series of nested spherical torus formations. Modern seers such as Barbara Ann Brennan (Hands of Light) have confirmed that each “chakra” is shaped like a two-ended trumpet, and this is a visualization of where each spherical torus or energy body has its axis. She describes the torus as the perfect shape for a black hole to white hole vortex, and also comments on the gyroscopic properties of this energy form. Ancient seers also went out-of-body and reported their observations of the structure of the CU, often calling it the “World Tree” after their sighting of the main central axis. We will show that this concept reappears in a remarkably similar fashion across a huge number of different cultures, and a clear connection to the nested spherical torus can easily be established; it is, literally, one and the same formation.


it has even been suggested that the torus can be used to define the workings of consciousness itself. In other words...consciousness has a geometry! The geometric shape used to describe the self-reflexive nature of consciousness is the torus. The torus allows a vortex of energy to form which bends back along itself and re-enters itself. It 'inside-outs', continuously flowing back into itself. Thus the energy of a torus is continually refreshing itself, continually influencing itself

The toroidal shape used in HRT is similar to a doughnut but rather than having an empty central "hole", the topology of a torus folds in upon itself and all points along its surface converve together into a zero-dimensional point at the center called the Vertex. This makes it the perfect environment within which to populate the automatous partials that make up the essence of any dynamic function such as a person's vibrational essence. Any input placed at the Vertex while the torus is "torsioned" (folded and rotated inward) is spread out and distributed over the entire surface of the toroid.

That energy flow , through the body is what ‘Toroid Music’ pretends to deliver to your ears, energetical music without losing essence of environmental energy surrounding you.

Fully formed and let loose late on in 2013, Geistfight have been establishing themselves within the UK Ska and Punk scene as the "go to guys" for a fast paced, energetic, venue-bouncing skacore/punk showcase.

For fans of contemporaries such as Farse, Capdown, RX Bandits, Adequate Seven, Strung Out, No Comply, Howards Alias etc, the sound of the 90's and early 00's third wave advances again. Whilst including a heavier, riff driven groove with epic breakdowns and marching beats, Geistfight maintain that dance-inducing infectiously happy vibe that ska (and a bit of funk!) provides.

All of this is performed with so much attitude and passion that no gig could ever be flat. This is why Geistfight blend so well with a wide variety of bands like local heroes and friends Darko (techy-hardcore punk) and Tree House Fire (smooth reggae/ska positive vibes)

In 2014, the first full year, Geistfight enjoyed a support slot on several dates of The JB Conspiracy tour and played multiple times with Faintest Idea, Tree House Fire and Darko. The band also shared the stage with The Peacocks, Dirty Revolution, Will Tun and the Wasters, Citizen Fish, The Karma Party, Drones and many other awesome acts. There was even a headlining performance at the Fleet Christmas Festival!

The Geistfight demo featuring "The Fine Line", "Counting Hours" and "Break Out" was recorded on a budget of £13 in friend Jake's garage and mixed by Brad Tyler for a bottle of rum. This has sold out several times, at which point guitarist Tom Adams goes and makes a handful more at home! The launch of the band has been truly DIY and where Geistfight goes from here is built on doing it as organically as possible.

"The Fine Line" and "Counting Hours" have both been used on widely circulated sampler albums, including the upcoming release of "Buried Treasure" by Ska Mutiny Records, previously featuring the likes of Random Hand.

Geistfight have released their first full single "The Fine Line" and a video to compliment this ska-punk banger of a track. With this release representing a true step up, it should be the perfect introduction to the E.P. recorded in October 2015 with Chris Edkins.

2015 has included stages shared with Imperial Leisure, Random Hand and an appearance at Undercover Festival with The Damned and XSLF.

We are all about live performance, so wherever or whenever you see Geistfight you can be assured of one thing: It's gonna be a Skacore/Punk party!

Hard Kaur’s unprecedented rise to the top of the celebrity tree in Bollywoods tinsel town has been
one of the biggest successes that any solo British Asian entertainer has seen this decade. From
Birmingham to Bombay, she actively launched a colossal scale hip hop attack on Asian and introduced
to the continent a new concept. The reward?...Indian media hailed her as the saviour of the music
scene with her sound being the biggest new musical concept since Bappi Lahiri’s introduction to Disco.
The enfant terrible took her unique blend of British bubble gum hip hop, and brought to the forefront
a sound that would launch her as a national hero in India. Having caused a furore in the run up to the
finals in India’s version of ‘Dancing With The Stars’, Jhalak Dikhlaja, to having recently anchored the
hit ‘IPL Rockstar’ series nationally, Hard Kaur has become an national onscreen darling.
Her success story in India began as she co-wrote a hit single for the Indian gangster underworld flick
‘Johnny Gadar’ alongside the Indian equivalent of triple Grammy award winners Shankar, Ehsaan &
Loy. The record was the most downloaded musical single that year and propelled her into the
limelight. With continued hits including India’s top selling singles from her debut album ‘Supawoman’,
‘Glassy’, Look 4 Me’ and’ Bombay Deewana’, she went on to become one of the most sought after
performers for music in Bollywood blockbusters. Today her discography over the last 2 years includes
over 20 smash hit records as part of movies including ‘Singh Is King’ to ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, ‘Chance
Pe Dance’ to ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ with a number slated for release this year.
Today, Hard Kaur has become one of India’s leading musicians and celebrity with fans across the
nation. The face of Hip Hop in India, Hard Kaur has introduced the musical genre and taken it to
greater heights by giving it a pop sensibility. The genre has quickly been absorbed by India and given
its own unique twist and been used in the biggest Bollywood blockbusters. Culturally also, hip hop is
something that is now known about by Rickshawallas through to housewives, young children through
to business executives. Her ‘real’ voice and no holds barred opinions have garnered her public support
and access to the masses in India.
However this success has not come without real struggle. Born Taran Kaur Dhillon this tri-lingual
songstress’ musical journey began in her birth place of India but, it was her arrival in Birmingham with
not much except what her mother could carry in 1991 that became the door to another world where
her dreams could actually become a reality. Having lost her father in the horrendous Indian riots of
’84, she moved to the UK with her mother and younger brother. Having no English language skills in
her vocabulary, she immersed herself in a different type of universal language that she instantly
connected with, music and went on to meet her first love…Hip Hop.
“I fell in love with Hip-Hop music because it was so real. You could say and be how ever you want and
I’d finally found my voice. I also learnt a lot of English through it.” she explains.
Her career has always been independently funded and her struggle to the top has been fuelled by her
passion for the art. “I was bullied by the Indian kids when I was in school and college because I was a
‘freshie’ and bullied by the other kids because I spoke English with a funny accent”. “When I overcame
that, the reality of being a female in a male dominated industry was becoming clear. I would walk into
studios to be dealt sexist comments and was often offered a chance at the ‘Big Time’ if I were to
befriend certain individuals”. In retaliation, Hard Kaur changed her appearance and shaved her head.
“It shocked so many people but I feel that more people started either to take me more seriously or just
think I was nuts!”
Those weren’t her only troubled times though. Her mother struggled with launching a business to
support her two children but was the victim of a violently abusive partner at whose hands she’d
suffered for years. “It was heartbreaking when I was very young because there was nothing I could
do”. At the age of 15 though, she decided to change the course. My friends had made me into a
stronger person and I was encouraged by them to perform and rap at mc battles and it completely
gave me confidence in speaking out about what I thought. I came home one evening to find my mother
caught in another attack and with injuries. Her cheek had been battered with a tava, an Indian flat pan
which we make chapattis on. I don’t know where I plucked up the courage from but I launched at him
and distracted him and he ran to the police station”. They never saw him again.
Hard Kaur’s mother now has a thriving beauty business that she set up initially from a tiny room in her
home. The salon was the first of its kind on the infamous Soho Road, Birmingham and Hard Kaur
dedicated her debut album ‘Supawoman’ to her real live Super Woman, her mother.
“She has definitely got super powers. She story is extraordinary and a reflection of tales of our people
moving to the UK and becoming successful. After the death of my father in the 1984 riots, she has gone
through so much struggle bringing up my little brother and me as a single parent”.
For the next leg in her journey, Hard Kaur is working on her second, as yet unnamed album due for
release early next year. In the interim she is set to release her new single ‘Desi Dance’ featuring
Eminems band D12. She also made her acting debut alongside an all star cast featuring Akshay
Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia for the movie Patiala House. The film
released early this year and Hard Kaur had two leading records on the soundtrack. She also gave the
biggest hit of the year “Char Baaj Gaye” which is till topping the charts all over.
With the Midas touch in full effect, there is nothing that this British performer can’t touch that doesn’t
turn to gold.

Serdar Senemoglu aka WISEBEAT residing in Istanbul, is a Turkish DJ & music producer and one of the top DJs exports to the international nightlife scene.
 
Originally a textile engineer with an MBA in international business, Wisebeat started his professional career in fashion and retail working with top local and international designer brands.
