"On the way to the beach, the sultriness melted the buildings in front of our retinas. Distortion of metal, glass and concrete, naturally generated. Once we reached the coast, the impact of the wind required us an extra human effort to walk. The tide had risen excessively the night before, infesting the strip of sand with garbage and a type of dark-colored algae known as Hijiki. We were talking about the influence of the Earth's rotation upon the movement of the tides. We think that the rising and falling of salt water works more as a metaphor than in a vectorial sense linked to the flooding. On one hand, there is the relationship between the movement of the Earth and the waters. On the other, the dynamic dance of the moons, the suns and the other planets. All of this matters. Along the sandy zone, black algae merged with human waste. The viscous appearance of a piece of black plastic had mixed with one of the photosynthetic organisms, forming what looked like the most beautiful mutant creature we've ever seen. After successive heatwaves, these types of beings became more and more common. Plastic plant polymers that attached themselves to dead sea creatures, forming the monsters of our time. The creature remained motionless except when it interacted with the salt water, which tried to drag it into the infinite dark sea. Its tentacles clung to the ground like roots. It looked like the lung of a whale, the heart of a machine, a piece of everything." - Guilherme Ferreira

The online radio station Retreat Radio has acted as a unifying force on the underground scene in Malmö for close to a decade and now offers its first compilation of original music from its vast community.

A community grown exponentially like a virus, with Retreat Radio as the source of infection, comprised of artists in various stages of despair revelling in hazy ambient, angular industrial rhythms and post-dub influences. Now bringing you 24 tracks of frog-induced head music made for a sad generation that wanted to be club kids but had no club to go to.

Many - if not all - of the names behind this mammoth of a compilation are Retreat residents with current or past monthly shows on the programme. Many of whom have walked the stark lit street at the outskirts of town at night to climb a spiral staircase above a carwash to play their shows.

Loosely centered around the interpretation of dub as a genre, the compilation hand-picks a curation of tracks which nonetheless point to a coherent vision: that of dub as a vital cornerstone in the development of new music reflecting on an urban post-capitalist environment.

Born out of three years of displacement after the outbreak of war, Index_0 emerges as a sonic artifact — a fractured reflection of modern existence. It is a diary of dissolution, an intimate yet raw exploration of identity in a world where horror and beauty intertwine.

Carving through deconstructed club, noise, and spectral electronics, the album captures a personal eidos — a state of being filled with tension, love, regret, psychosis, warmth, and fleeting moments of joy. The sound textures, layered and evolving, serve as a means of reflecting on the present, shaping a deeper understanding of oneself and the surrounding world.

Forged on X-ray records, Index_0 is more than just an album; it is a relic of the future. Each copy is an unrepeatable anomaly, a ghostly imprint of lost vinyl cutting techniques, where frozen human shadows are reanimated into pulsing waves of energy. It is a bridge between the material and digital, past and unknown, a physical ritual inscribed onto fractured bones.

This is album as a time capsule, an echo from a collapsing reality, awaiting activation.

Bo Yin began her journey in electronic music as a dancer. Her mixes have aired on international stations in Prague, Marseille, London, and Hong Kong, reflecting her sharp and distinctive taste. Active in Taiwan’s underground scene — from Pure G and Final to various guerrilla parties — she has also played opening and closing sets for artists like Iglooghost, umru, and Mor Elian, and appeared as a special guest at Kindred (London, Japan) and DENKAI.

Her recent compilation Wu Ji 無極 | Various Artists Compilation Vol. 1 was featured in Mixmag Asia and released on Bandcamp.

Known for her precise EQ control and fearless experimentation, Bo Yin blends sounds beyond genre boundaries to build raw, emotional, post-apocalyptic soundscapes.
