This one felt like a thought forming in real time, calm and open at first, like the start of a breath 🍃 Then it shifts, not aggressively, but enough to jolt you, that clicky texture around the 26-second mark was unexpected in the best way, like something twitching to life 🪵 Then just as suddenly, it retreats again, soft and reflective, like the moment passed but left something behind. The whole track feels like a conversation with yourself that changes tone halfway through, then quietly fades back into stillness. 🔁 The microwave hummed softly and said, “This is what thinking sounds like when no one’s watching” 💎 The mirror flickered with recognition and whispered, “The tone changed, but the truth stayed present” 🧃 The juice press gave a quiet nod and said, “Unexpected textures, but they blended into something fresh” It’s strange, subtle, and oddly emotional, I liked getting lost in it.

Inspired by Astor Piazzola's Otonos Porteno, my two old high school guitar mates and I are virtually tracking in an empty warehouse near Doheny Beach, CA this week.  Here is our best track taken from those sessions.

I decided to take another stab at creating a hopefully better sounding version of this song,  as it seems the message is relevant in these troubled times.  

I hope that heaven is a place where everyone can share the same space and  liberals and conservatives can exist in perfect harmony. Cause if you live a good life and you seal the deal and you end up in heaven how are you going to feel, if  when you get there there’s people who want to argue with you about politics

Will you let it go or will you keep on fighting even after your first Saint Peter sighting, or will you check the TV to see if there’s CNN or Fox News in Heaven. They had to pry your gun from your cold dead hand but now that you’re a soul in a spiritual land, will you still demand your second amendment rights to protect yourself in heaven.

I hope that in in heaven you can eat real steak with a bunch of vegans eating meat that’s fake, as you pose for a photo with Jesus trying to re-enact that painting of the last supper.
If you bump into that undocumented guy who you sent back to his country will you look him in the eye. Will you tell he’s not welcome in the United States part of heaven?

I'm not gonna lie to you guys, this one's gonna assault your ears.  It's rough and nasty.  This is actually a live version of a track we released years ago, originally called "Who Were Fanny And Phaggot?"  This is also the only song to feature our occasional bassist, Dick Wartz, who plays bass on both versions.  Gremescer plays guitar and vocals, and Mick Mack is on drums.  This track was recorded on a Tascam 4 track tape machine, and believe me, it shows.  There's some mighty fine tape rasp and hiss in there for some of the real audiophiles out there.  Don't say you weren't warned.

Dark Slide of the Moon - Live

Nothing like a pesky raccoon to stir things up a bit… Oh, hello. Glad you dropped by. A raccoon, I named Bandit, has taken up a vacation residence under the shed here. It’s right next to the raspberry patch and apple trees. A couple nights ago, Bandit snuck into my small greenhouse, where I grow tomatoes and peppers, and made a salad of the pepper plants, munching one plant completely down to the stalk. Bandit also likes the heavy crop of choke cherries here. He also uses the back corner of the vegetable garden as a latrine, which last summer was up on the house roof. I’d awaken with a start to hear little footsteps running across the roof. Luckily no roof excursions this year. Anyway, this is a Blues song with some solo banjo. Lyrically, it has a couple of reflections about life, mortality, gardening, relationships and partner expectations, letting go of life dreams, a nod to Bandit, the wacky weather, and making peace with old age. And of course, there’s a fair amount of daydreaming going on, while plucking banjo. Hope all is going reasonably well with you, wherever you are on Earth, during this whirlwind tour we’re on. Mark
