MEDIA:

- Winner of the Sky News/ IRN student journalism award. I went back to studying to get a Broadcast Journalism Diploma where my radio documentary on the changing face of Brixton and another on forgiveness in the criminal justice system have been received very well.

- I present on the Islam Channel for a lifestyle programme called 'Living The Life.' I also report from interesting events around the UK for 'Your Event'

- I regularly blog ( Rukiyah Scribbles) about issues and events that effect me. ( I throw in the odd poem, meandering thought or scribble too)

CHARITY:

- I have just returned from the Greek Island of Lesbos where refugees are flooding in by the day. I spent the day shift distributing food, clothes and working in the camps and the night shift pulling in refugee boats. I will be returning soon!

- Co-Founder of loveLife Generation a youth-led organisation creating social change in innovative ways. (Future 100 and Future 50 award winner.) The current project is a mentoring programme.

- The Desmond Tutu Foundation UK: Previously the Head of Youth and Inclusion for the peace building charity and now I work with them on a consultancy basis)

SPORT:

- Wheelchair basketball coach at Brixton Ballers

- Love playing basketball whenever I get the chance

- Have completed 3 full marathons and hoping to complete my 4th (and final?) marathon in London in 2016 and raise funds for refugees.

- Have completed 2 triathlons and will be doing the 100k bike ride in the the summer of 2016.
