Starlight Thursdays - A weekly mix release hosted by Starlight Reunion and created by local Montana DJs. This playlist is a great example of the sound of the Montana underground and shows just how diverse it is.
We started this project as a way to stay in touch with our scene during the covid19 pandemic and it has grown into what may be the largest collection of local Montana DJ mix recordings. We're proud to say it now includes several all original sets by DJ/Producers, Live sets from local parties, festivals and club nights as well as recordings of live electronic music created with beat machines, synthesizers and step sequencers.

This was my first time DJing at this legendary venue—a place where I’ve danced to countless shows over the years and always dreamed of being on that stage. Getting to open the night for Chase Bjornson and Kapture was an absolute honor and a ton of fun.
This mix dives deep into the style I’ve been curating lately—maybe I should call it the Jungle Boogie vibe. With our long, cold winters in western Montana, I find it essential to bring some sunshine into the dark season. Lately, nothing has been moving me like hand drums, brass horns, and catchy melodies—sounds that transport us thousands of miles from our mountain paradise into the depths of the jungle. Latin, Afro, and tropical rhythms have been my biggest inspirations, and this mix is a reflection of that energy.
Many DJs describe their sets as a journey, and this is no different—but this isn’t just any journey. This is a first-class ride to some of the most remote places on Earth, where music has ancient roots and sound is a living, breathing spirit. To fully absorb what this mix has to offer, you’ll need to step slightly outside your comfort zone. Safety is only an illusion in the jungle.
This is an adventure, and when you return, you won’t be the same. I’ll be your guide. Together, we dance—with courage in our hearts and pride in our people.

What a night to remember! This was my first time playing The Badlander—a place I’ve danced at countless times, always dreaming of being behind the decks. Huge thanks to Pinedrops for inviting me to play the opening night of his new residency.

We found a sweet synergy between our styles and kept the energy high all night long—blending Deep House, Afro grooves, Disco, and the Latin horn-and-percussion-filled tracks I’ve been obsessed with lately.

It was one of those sets that felt like a full circle moment. Much love to everyone who came out and danced with us!

It’s always such a pleasure to perform at this legendary venue. As of late my music selection brings us closer to the equator but maintains a trip around the world with tracks from so many nations and cultures under one roof. I recently discovered a genre called “Reggae House”. With my deep appreciation of all things Jamaican i was instantly hooked and listened to hundreds of tracks overnight. I chose a handful of my favorites and blended them in with my traditional selection as an homage to the originators of sound system culture that inspired what became the electronic dance music scene today. The music was received well as the room quickly grew into a dance party full of funky movement and energetic cheers. I live for these moments.

This is a deep house set that I designed for a 4 - 6 am sunrise set at this year’s Crazy Mountain Carnival. This is not the set I ended up playing at that event (check your USBs, kids!), but I learned so much that morning: how to graciously face challenges while on stage, how to vibe where you are planted, and how to fall back into celebration with community as a form of catharsis. How long have you been DJing? 
Since 2017 I think!

Why did you get into it?
I like to party and listen to good tunes while I do it.

What events have you played?
I started playing at house parties then was invited to play at Monk’s with Chaddabox & Friends. In 2019 a group of close friends and I decided to throw our own mini festival and we named it Grease Camp 2012. We have hosted our Fest 5 times since it began. Grease Camp was invited to play and eventually host a stage at Forest Creatures in 2023(?). Most recently i played at Funkit Coffee in Missoula and it was such a fantastic event!

Where do you live (generally)? 
Missoula, MT.

Where are you from originally?
Flagstaff, AZ.

What inspires you to DJ? 
I really enjoy the ability to create a mood or vibe in a room or campsite full of people. Seeing people dance and smile during my sets is the best feeling.

What genres are in your mix? 
Tech House, Bass House and Minimal Tech

I was testing out some new genres with this one. I think it’s perfect to play at your next house party.

A few words from BK Love
NYE is always a big night for me. The first party I played was on New Years. It became quite the tradition after that. This one in particular was very special. I was so ready to be done with 2020 and welcome the new year. I felt like there was this big build up to it and to be surrounded by a good chunk of the starlight reunion family was so needed to welcome in the new year. 

The next handful of weeks We’ll be releasing more live recorded sets from the lineup of DJs that played at Dada Underground.
