For 30 years, the canon and astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) had been certain that the Earth revolved around the Sun. But that would be a revolution in the late Middle Ages! And the polymath was plagued by doubts, because his mathematical calculations did not agree with astronomical observations. And above all: his findings contradicted the biblical creation story. Copernicus wrestled with himself and his faith.
